nick and Jordan rode in Gatsby car with tom driving and Gatsby and daisy rod in toms car."you take nick and Jordan. we'll follow you in the coupe."the reason is because daisy and Gatsby wanted to be alone and tom was being a dick so Gatsby compromised by letting him take his car.
Gatsby and Daisy go in Tom's coupe', and Nick, Jordan, and Tom go in Gatsby's car. "You take Nick and Jordan. We'll follow you in the coupe'." At first Tom and Daisy where going to in Gatsby's car together, how ever Daisy refused. The reason I belief that this arragements where made was because of Tom's actions. "Daisy looked at Tom frowning." pg 121. I think that Daisy suggested to go with Gatsby was for two reasons. One being that she is having an affair with him, and also because of the way Tom was acting. Towards the end Tom was still upset about it. "Did you see that?" demanded Tom." pg 121
Tom, Nick, and Jordan went in Gatsby's car while Daisy and Gatsby went in Tom's coupé. Tom suggests "well, you take my coupé and let me drive your car to town." i think the reason being that these car arrangements were made was because Daisy refused to go with Tom "he opened the door, but she moved out from the circle of his arm" " she walked close to Gatsby, touching his coat with her hand." Also i think daisy may have been mad at Tom for the way he was acting earlier. "Daisy looked at tom frowning."
Before the trip to the city, Tom starts to suspect that something is going on between his wife and Mr.Gatsby . He proceeds to insist that they make the trip together, splitting the group into the arrangement of Tom, Nick, and Jordan in Gatsby's car, and Gatsby and Daisy in the other.
Tom suspects something is going on with daisy and gatsby. "she had told him she loved him, and Tom Buchanan saw." (pg 119) he wanted to take daisy in gatsbys car " come on daisy, I'll take you in this circus wagon" (pg 121) but daisy wanted to go with gatsby of course " you take nick and Jordan. We'll follow you in the coupe." (pg 121)
The arrangements of the passengers in the cars were Tom, Jordan, and Nick rode on Gatsby's car. But Gatsby didn't go in his car Gatsby left with Daisy in Tom's Coupe. Daisy didn't want to be in the same car with Tom so maybe that was one of the reasons the car arrangements were like that. "Come on Daisy", said Tom, pressing her with his hand toward Gatsby's car, I'll take you in circus wagon." (pg 122)But Tom eventually starts to suspect something is going on with Gatsby and Daisy. "Did you see that? Demanded Tom"(pg 121)
