the last paragraph means that nick was leaving and asked Gatsby if he was going to leave and Gatsby said no not until daisy went to bed. nick did not want to stay because it would ruin the moment of Gatsby making sure daisy was alright and could bruise his ego if he stayed if he so had to be a knight in shining armor to say.
I think the last paragraph just means that Gatsby is becoming foolish he is standing outside Daisy's house, watching, waiting until daisy goes to bed Nick feels although he is disturbing the "sacredness of the vigil." I thinks Nick feels as though Gatsby is wasting his time just watching over Daisy's house and as if he is watching something that doesn't exist. "So I walked away leaving him standing there in the moonlight-watching over nothing."
Well he describes the scene. He finds it a waiste of time for gatsby to be waiting for daisy to go to bed so he decides to leave and not ruin " the sacredness of the vigil." (pg 145)
what i think the last paragraph in chapter 7 is explaining is that Nick was already ready to go home. So he had asked Gatsby if he was going to leave with him. Gatsby had said no that he was going to wait till daisy goes to bed."I want to wait here till Daisy goes to bed. Good Night old sport" (pg. 145) "He put his hands in his coat pockets and turned back eagerly to his scrutiny of the vigil. So i walked away an left him standing there in the moonlight-watching over nothing." (pg. 145)
I think that Nick feels that its pointless for Gatsby to stay and watch over Daisy, and thinks that he should go home to get some sleep."You'd better come home and get some sleep." pg 145. How ever Gatsby still feels the need to stay up and make sure everything is alright. Gatsby wants Nick to go home as well as if though his presence bothers him. "My presence marred the scaredness of vigil." pg 145. Nick does end up going home leaving Gatsby to waste his to waste his time for nothing. "So I walked away and left him standing there in the moonlight-watching over nothing." pg145
In the last paragraph of chapter 7 , Gatsby is standing outside of Tom and Daisy's house , waiting around to see of anything will happen when Nick goes to check on him before getting a cab home . When the book states " so I walked away and left him standing there in the moonlight- watching over nothing " I think it means that although Gatsby is waiting for Tom and Daisy to get in a fight , nothing is going to happen so Gatsby is really waiting for nothing , not only that night but with Daisy in general because her and Tom have a happy marriage and are not going to separate .
I think the last paragraph in chapter 7 is saying that Nick was ready to leave because he felt that Gatsby staying around to watch over Daisy was pointless "so I walked away and left him standing there in the moon-light watching over nothing".(pg. 145) It seems like he's waiting for something that wasn't going to happen.
