Sheryl, Half the Sky was truly an eye opener and perspective changer for me. A day doesn't go by that I don't think about things that I learned in its pages. How do you advise someone like myself- with a newly found awareness and call to urgency- to organize and process all the information about injustices to humanity across the globe? Where does one start? I want to do something productive with my awareness, though I have limited resources and the logistics of leaving to go volunteer in another country are slightly overwhelming. Any suggestions?

   Hi Sheryl,
Hi Sheryl,One more question if you have time. I know you have a strong finance background. When talking about poverty alleviation, we see governments and foundations give billions into resolving these issues. Do you think it is viable AND ethical for business to provide a market based solution? If so, where do you see opportunity for the Social-Capital markets to help? Beyond micro-finance if you don't mind...
 Sheryl,
Sheryl,I loved the book you created with your husband. It created the fire underneath my ass that I needed to get my family going in the right direction thank you for that. Your contribution to the world is changing lives everyday.
I am a mother of three young boys and want to insure they understand and value a womans contriution to the world. We currenlty loan to women via Kiva, make birth safe for women in the Congo via Global Giving, and sponsor a young girl via Plan International.
I am at stay at home mom and currently ill with constraints on some of my activities. Is there a way for my family to volunteer and it not be hard manual labor? I would love to spend summer vacations making a difference in the lives of women across the world. Also any advice for a mom of three boys? Jess is 15, Oliver 3, and Elliot 1.
Thanks and your family is such an inspiration!

First, thank you so much for the work that you do. Your book inspired me to drastically change direction on my women's travel website www.worldette.com as I was building it. Now, thank..."
Dear Marie: we were trained as journalists never to take sides, and that became very helpful when we were writing Half the Sky. Frankly, the stories speak for themselves, so there is no need to "take a side." But my view is that you do need to give both sides so that others can come to the same discovery that you have. Good luck!
