I thought i would be the only person to not like the BDB series. For me its the way the author explained race in her books i gave up on her after that.

LOTU is a great series. I love the way Showalter incorporates the different mythologies into the stories and the characters are also very engaging. Enjoy!

BDSM newbie (charlievamp) Thanks guys, hoping my little man will godown on time tonight as I have a nice bottle of wine and the first book to soak up for a few hours.

I loved the Midnight Breed Series by Lara Adrian. I was just about to ask if anyone else has read them until I read all the posts lol. I also like the GhosstWalker Series by Christine Feehan and the Highlander Series by Karen Marie Moning. There seems to be a lot of Lords of the Underworld and Immortals after Dark Series...I think I'll start the Lords of the Underworld.

After finishing the Pride Series of course. I'm about to finish the first book (The Mane Event).

I think if you like Midnight Breed you will really like Lords of the Underworld. They are set up in the same way. Each book about a different character w/ a common story thread going through it. LOTU are unique characters though & I really liked the concept (despite my love of vamps & weres it' nice to read something really different).

message 57: by Alisa (new)

Alisa I'm currently reading the Vampires in America series by DB Reynolds. On Duncan's book. Can't make up my mind if I'm going to start Dark Hunters or Immortas After Dark next.

Well if you check out Immortals After Dark, be sure to post about it so I know if it is worth it. I actually started the Midnight Series on book 5 or 6 because I didn't realize it was a whole series. I had to go back and read the whole series in order. I loved it becuase of there was a story to it other then the romance stuff. The same could be said about the GhostWalker series. I like the romance and stuff (duh) but what really hooks me into the book is the action.

Cindi (ourtrumpcard) | 381 comments So, Lorraine, do you really not cheat and re-arrange your TBR pile? Mine's HUGE but very fluid .... I should probably just drop off the first hundred because I've forgotten why I wanted to read them, I bet! Do ya'll all buy the books on your TBR pile or is it more a wistful thinking list? Just curious ....

message 61: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (studioeastrat) | 511 comments My TBR list is more so that I don't forget about books that I heard or read about that I may like. I don't necessarily read off of it all the time. I am a bit of a completest so I usually only read one series at a time and I have to finish that series before I pick up something else.

Exactly!

Awilk -never sleeps- (awilk) | 98 comments I have so many series that I am reading. Problem is that I keep hearing about other books that I just have to read as well. I am going to have to look at the series I still enjoy and see what I haven't gotten around to and try and catch up. Some of the series that I started some time ago no longer interest me. Such as BDB by Ward, Kenyon's nighthunters etc and Feehans Dark series.

message 64: by Kazen (new)

Kazen I've been getting into a bunch of series lately - BDB, Demonica, Guild Hunters... good stuff! What kills me is that often book three or four isn't available for ebook borrowing! It's not the libraries' fault - the publishers don't make that volume available. So I have a bunch of series stalled out at the moment, grah.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 95 comments Basically every series I've ever started!! I have a real problem finishing series. It's just by the time all the books come out I'm reading something else, or the next one will come soon and I want to read them all at once!

It's just a cruel cycle! I've actually started getting caught up on a few, and finished one! So proud of myself.

message 72: by Remy (new)

Remy Richard (remyrichard) | 19 comments I just got caught up on the Immortals After Dark series too. I was kind of a latecomer to the whole series so when I found it, I went into a downward spiral. I honestly don't even remember buying the last three or four off of Kindle. A few days later I was going through my emails and had a ton of receipt emails from Amazon. I hear the first step to beating an addiction is admitting you have a problem.

I have a friend who keeps suggesting books for me to read and I currently have soooo many series on my TBR list. Finishing up Tangle of Need by Nalini Singh right now, need to read Rapture by Ward then moving on to a new series. I was debating on Guild Hunters series or Lords of the Underworld. Any suggestions?

Hi Kristen! I too just finished ToN. Loved it! Have you started Ms. Singh's "Guild Hunters" series? It's wonderful; scrumptious angels, cool female leads, etc. can't remember the first book but its something like Angel's Consort?

message 81: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (laurenjberman) I've read Lords of the Underworld and enjoyed it very much (some books are better than others). Love the Psy-Chengeling but haven't started Guild Hunters yet - maybe this year.

message 82: by Danielle The Book Huntress , Loves 'Em Lethal (new)

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 9851 comments Mod
Hi Kristen. It depends on what you want to read. The Guild Hunters series is quite, quite dark. It's more of an urban fantasy with romance series, while LOTU is paranormal romance focused. LOTU is kind of dark, but not as dark and Guild Hunters. They are both good series. I think LOTU is a quicker read than Guild Hunters. Either way you can't lose.

Cherrie (self-describedkindleaddict) | 114 comments I wasn't sure where to post this question but here goes:

I'm finally going to enter the PNR genre for the first time (I'm so nervous!). I want to start with Karen Marie Moning's Fever series (it is considered PNR right?).

My question is: are her book series' connected to one another? Do I need to read the Highlander series, or a different series before the Fever series?

message 88: by Alisa (new)

Alisa No Fever & Highlander are not related. The Fever Series is completed I believe w/a new branch off series. I haven't read Fever yet but I've heard the books end in cliffhangers so you may want to hv the next one ready.

message 89: by Alisa (new)

Alisa IMO....The Night Huntress series by Jeannine Frost is a good start for your first pnr. It's has humor & likeable characters & doesn't hv any controversial things in it.

Lauren (laurenjberman) Sorry to disagree, Alisa but the Fever and Highlander series are connected.

The Mackeltars and some other characters from the Highlanders series appear in the Fever series. I don't want to give any spoilers away but I would read the Highlanders first, especially the last 4 books beginning with Kiss of the Highlander (Highlander, #4) by Karen Marie Moning

KMM's Fever is my absolute favorite! The series is slower in a physical relationship than what you might expect and I think that would be great for your first time in the paranormal world because it lacks NOTHING, in my personal biased opinion. Some paranormals are quick and dry with no chemistry or 'physical contact' and some go right into the action of body slapping, like in the first chapter or page three, ect. The chemistry is smoking hot in Fever and although the hero and heroine (Barrons and Mac) don't get together for quite some time the complex storyline and their constantly growing chemistry is more than enough to keep you reading. The storyline alone is 5 stars quality (I think it's 5+++). As soon as I finished one book I would buy the next book so I bought five books in I believe it was, five or six days. Fever has fae, demons, vampires, and I can't think what else at the moment.

Goge (BARRONS) le Moning Maniac, | 288 comments I didn't know I had so many books to read:/

I need to finish:
Asylum's Tales
Love At Stake -> (I read up to Conner's book)
Vikings II by Sandra Hill
Sunny's Monére series (actually, I'm up-to-date. The last published book was in 2011. What happened? Anyone know?)
Immortals After Dark (I'd be starting book two)
Gena Showalter's Alien Huntress series
Lisa Kleypas's Wallflowers and The Hathaways and Gamblers
Two Dukes of Wyndham series
Midnight by Cynthia Eden
The Others by Christine Warren
Christine Feehan Dark series (I'm up to book 22)
FBI / US Attorney series by Julie James
Agent Ex by Gina Robinson
ect

I need to start:
Sandra Hill's vampire series (Kiss of Pride)
I've added KGI and Argeneau thanks to this discussion.
Someone mentioned Iron Fey, I need to start the series too since I have one of the books.
The LOTU Angels from Gena Showalter
Elemental Mysteries
The Education of Sebastian (there's only two though so not technically a series.)
The Rules of Scoundrels
Bridgertons by Julia Quinn
ect

message 96: by Cherrie (new)

Cherrie (self-describedkindleaddict) | 114 comments OK thanks for the input guys. I'm going to start with the Highlander series and go on to the Fever series since they are connected. I'm still nervous, I've never read a PN book before and I'm honestly thinking I won't like them, I really hope I do though. * fingers crossed*

message 97: by Alisa (new)

I really liked the highlander series but did not care for the fever series. The heroine got on my nerves but I know TONS of people that loved them. To me the highlander series was more historical romance with a little bit of paranormal. The fever series, IMO, is more urban fantasy because it's the same main characters through out the series not a different couple each book.

@ IMHO~C if you don't care for either of those series I would highly recommend the Immortals After Dark Series by Kresley Cole. This series is fun, exciting, sexy, and full of action. She does a great job of immersing you in the world and NONE of the books or story lines are ever boring. Which I felt the fever series was at points.

Are you reading KMM's Highlander series for your choice of paranormal? Because that's not how I would catalog them. They were more 'time-travel, highlander, historical' since nothing paranormal happens really. Aside from them calling themselves 'immortal highlanders' and the time traveling.
