Sorry for the confusion; they're very similar-sounding themes back-to-back!
Re November theme--It turns out that my highest rated to read is the second book in a duology. I have both on my to-read, but the second book is rated 5.00, the only book on my to-read shelf with a perfect score. I have nothing against reading out of order, but these are alternate universe novels. So it's probably better to get the background in the first book before I read the second. I have just downloaded them both from Smashwords. I'm not sure I have the time to read the first book before November. I may have to be a Theme Rebel because I want to read the first book before the second.
October's almost over but I've got a tiny little book to fit in:
. At 138 pages, hoping I'll be done before the end of the month! :)
I will be reading the third highest rated book on my list because the highest is the eighth in a series in which I am reading the second and I can't get the other from the library.
I'm currently reading Painter of Silenceby Georgina Harding. It deals with a deaf artist in Romania during the 1950's largely from the perspective of a nurse who knew him when they were both children. I'm finding it very compelling and am already halfway through.@Tammy--I see that I'm not going to be the only November theme rebel.
My November book will be
it has a 5 star rating, but it only has 2 ratings. It sounds like an interesting read though so I am looking forward to it!
The highest rated book I can get my hands on is Complete Poems, 1904-1962, but I'm not sure if that will work. I will try though!
I'm reading Illuminations: A Novel of Hildegard von Bingen, a historical fiction about a really amazing medeival abbess. I probably won't be able to finish it today. This means that I'll be in revolt against November's theme, I suppose.
I did end up finishing
this past weekend. My life is somewhat crazy hectic right now so I'm excited that I'm still able to participate! :)
I just finished The Midwife: A Memoir of Birth, Joy, and Hard Times which was a "newest on to-read" book for me. A very interesting (and graphic) story of a midwife in the 1950's East End of London.
