Alsjem | 18 comments Yay! All done and working perfectly!

message 52: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Mine doesn't appear any different (of course, I don't need the Parental Controls feature!)
If it hadn't downloaded a little message on the home page I'd not have known.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments I did mine this morning. Haven't noticed anything different yet...

message 54: by Elle (new)

Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments I don't know if it is indeed in my mind but for some reason I think it's a tiny bit clearer.

I keep meaning to go find myself a comic book but I haven't had the time yet

message 55: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Eee, I wish my mind were a tiny bit clearer Elle!

message 56: by Elle (new)

Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments HA! Actually me too.

This cold is like a 'fog' in my mind and I'm struggling to concentrate.

message 57: by Philip (sarah) (new)

Philip (sarah) Willis | 4630 comments Mine updated overnight! I can't say I notice any change as yet.

message 58: by Pat () (new)

Pat () | -245 comments Mine is still waiting #:-(

message 59: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments The only change I've noticed is that the % number is smaller.

message 60: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments same here ignite

message 61: by Elle (new)

Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments i thought i was just imagining that last night cause i was so tired /:

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments I really have convinced myself that the print is a teeny bit clearer.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I still don't have the update. :(

message 64: by Tim (new)

Tim | 8539 comments Without two KKs side by side, I can't honestly say I see a difference. But there are some books that seem to be using different fonts, whereas I'm not sure that happened before.

Got no use for 'parental controls' ;)

message 65: by Elle (new)

Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments i'm use them for friends who want to try it out :P

and it's an update letting you customise fonts now I think Tim!

I still need to try the comics

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments I updated mine and then looked at identical pages on OH's, and we thought we saw it looked a bit darker/clearer, but the difference was very slight and we were looking for it.

message 67: by Tim (new)

Tim | 8539 comments Louise-Lesley (Elle) wrote: "i'm use them for friends who want to try it out :P"

Hmm. If it stops them from buying stuff, I suppose. I'm still recovering from lending it to a friend's mum and discovering she'd bought a bunch of Donna Leon novels!

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments YOU LENT YOUR KINDLE??????

message 69: by Tim (new)

Tim | 8539 comments Sure. With Kindle for iPad (which I probably use 75% of the time anyhow), it wasn't as if I was going to miss it much. I was just a bit perturbed when these Donna Leon books kept appearing on the home screen (after I'd admonished her not to buy anything!)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments YOU LENT YOUR KINDLE???????

message 71: by Elle (new)

Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments the amount of people who pick over my kindle and accidentally buy books, i'm thankful for it!

although now it's much easier to refund, thank goodness

message 72: by Philip (sarah) (new)

Philip (sarah) Willis | 4630 comments When I read One Breath Away the font and spacing were different,I put it down to the book but it may have been the update!

message 73: by Elle (new)

Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments not sure if it's my kindle or what but omg, so much quicker putting stuff into collections now!!

message 74: by Tim (new)

Tim | 8539 comments Must admit I don't really use collections, cos they're not supported by the iPad app (grrr...)

message 75: by Sonic (new)

Sonic Alpha (sonicalpha) | 67 comments Ignite wrote: "The only change I've noticed is that the % number is smaller."

I noticed that immediately, as it's something I use for updating my GR progress.

Love the new parental controls, as it means I can lock out access to the Kindle store.

message 76: by Katy (new)

Katy | 2662 comments Just noticed this thread! Thought 'I wonder if I've had the update..'. Went to settings, saw it still said 3.3, pressed menu and had an "Update your Kindle" option, so it's currently updating (:

message 77: by Pat () (new)

Pat () | -245 comments Still waiting

message 78: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments It's not that exciting Pat - don't hold your breath!

message 79: by Pat () (new)

Pat () | -245 comments Tee hee, no indeed

Vanessa (aka Dumbo) (vanessaakadumbo) | 8459 comments I'm on 3.3 but haven't got an option to update on my settings. My kindle keeps rebooting all the time it's blooming annoying and I don't know how to stop it.

message 81: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Since I updated when I turn on my kindle occasionally a big black bar appears on the screen (differs in size each time) But going to the home page seems to clear it but it worries me I don't want my kindle to break again :o(

message 82: by Ray (new)

Ray Daley | 20 comments Mines hacked/jaibroken, purely because it's now out of warrenty and I wanted cooler screensavers. The update can look like it's taking quite long and does appear to stall about 2/3's of the way through. My advice is when you start it go and do something else for about 10 minutes or so, by the time you come back it should be sitting waiting for you on the booklist screen all happy and updated.

I think they may have fiddled to improve the battery life as mine just did a record 37 days between charges. Or possibly the jailbreak process helped that.

If you decide to jailbreak I highly recommend trawling Deviant Art, whatever tv/movies/books you like, chances are someone has a done some cool art to do with it.

message 83: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments I had my last kindle jail broken but I haven't done it again yet. I liked having my photos on it as screen savers

message 84: by Matthew (new)

Matthew McFarland (matthewwmcfarland) | 46 comments Jailbreaking is the way to go, I have so many great photos now instead of the stock screensavers. There are plenty of resources out there, e.g. http://www.reddit.com/r/kindlescreens...
And no, it won't void your warranty!

Jay-me (Janet) | 3784 comments Mine hasn't updated, it was left plugged in all night as I decided to leave it after charging this time, in case it wanted to do some more indexing (which it seems to decide it needs quite often)

Re the screensavers - mine are the original ones, can't be bothered to change them - if the kindle is on I'm reading, if it is off the cover is closed and I don't see the screensavers, so it seems to be a lot of messing about for something I ain't gonna be looking at anyway.

I had a similar experience yesterday Jud while reading Sirrenvaag! I told Phil if Kindle broke I would have to go straight to Tesco to buy another as I couldn't wait to order through Amazon.
Since the update I've noticed the % reading acting strangely, sometimes increasing after 6 pages and other times after only 3 ( before it increased more uniformly)has happened with last 2 books.

message 87: by Elle (new)

Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments I fear my Kindle is dying. It won't hold a charge :(

message 88: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Aaaargh! I couldn't cope!

message 89: by Philip (sarah) (new)

Philip (sarah) Willis | 4630 comments Oh Elle, what a time you are having at the moment. I will light a 'good luck' candle for you tonight!

I thought of you in TKMaxx last night, saw some gorgeous journals including Moleskines and then boxes of postcards(50 in each) one displaying penguin book covers and the other ladybird covers.

message 90: by Elle (new)

Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments Oooo! Lucky you! I must make it a mission to go into TKMaxx more.

I have the penguin ones! i adore them!

message 91: by Aura (new)

Aura (aurastark) | 7 comments Glad I checked the forum - updating my jailbroken kindle now, and looking forward to the results. Just hope none of my books get lost though Calibre refill and Archived folder make it a lot easier to recover the contents...

message 92: by Andrew (new)

Andrew Thornway (andrewthornway) | 1 comments No update for mine yet. Pah!

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Hana, if you need any help just shout out. We have ever so many clever geeks in here.

Well. Geeks, anyway. :)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Andrew wrote: "No update for mine yet. Pah!"

Nor mine. Pffft.

message 95: by Janey (new)

Janey | 46 comments I'm glad I've just spotted this thread as I didn't know there was a new update for the KK. I'll have to see if it downloads tonight.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Dave's downloaded a couple days ago but last I checked, mine hadn't.

I'll try to remember to check this evening.

message 97: by Pat () (new)

Pat () | -245 comments One updated, one not

message 98: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Strange, isn't it?

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Both of ours have updated now.

message 100: by Elle (new)

Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments Highlights is definitely fixed now. I spent most of my morning reading a University book and highlighting LOADS. Didn't freeze once
