The book's WAY better than the movie but I must say, compared to other book-adapted movies, this was a decent one :)

The book, however, in my opinion was amazing, one of my favorites for sure. :)

I do agree that the movie didn't follow the books as much as I usually like films too but I still liked it.
The book was so much more amazing though simply because of the fact that in a book you're able to have that much more detail and the reader has the chance to picture it how they want. I pretty much always think the books better than the movie though so yeah.
So basically both were amazing and I would recommend both to anyone because everyone has to experience the awesomeness that is P.S. I Love You!

The reason I said both was because, they both have good qualities and aspects to them. And a movie with Gerard Butler, how could it not be a good movie ;)

same here. the book is too long and all those emotions does not make the impact that they did in the movie. But I finished it. It's nice but definitely liked the movie more.

same here :D
I found the book to be nice but when I compare that to the movie, it's weak. The movie was heart wrenching while the book was not able to make that impact.

The movie was a given since I love Gerard Butler --however, it is nothing like the book at all.

Overall, I think the movie and book as individual pieces of work are brilliant, but when compared, the book is better. If you watch the movie without thinking of the book (easier said than done!), it is pretty good! :)

I have seen the movie a million times and have LOVED it. Can anyone tell me how the movie stacks up? I am going to re..."
NO! The book is better and gives more background detail.

I am one of the those people loved the book, and it is one of my favorite books. I read a few years after I became a widow. I could relate to everything. Would love to see a sequel.
I would not have had a problem with the book from the American perspective, but they could have stuck more to the plot of of the book. Okay everything didn't have to be in the book, but keep the WHITE DRESS part, and the part where Gerry goes to the travel agency.

I agree the film doesn't follow the book too well but I don't mind that to be honest, as most of the time the films are only adaptations anyway.

Krishna,
I have felt the same way about P.S. I LOVE YOU. I read it about a year or so after it came out about 15 or so years ago. I think why it resonated with me, was because I had been a widow for a few years, and I could understand what Holly was going through. The book made you like and feel along with the family.
It took me years to get the UNABRIDGED recording of the book, because the publisher only ABRIDGED it,and that is the way you could download it from Audible.com. Publishers do not get that the reader wants the whole book, not just part of it.
As for the movie, lets just say it wasn't my cup of tea. The book is so much better. I wish that Ms. Ahern would write a sequel so that, we who love the book can find out how Holly is going after so many years.

If you really love reading and read this book then you will not want to see the movie. I felt the movie was not up to the mark as the book.
