& I bet you are glad you aren't reading some of them.

I couldn't guess any of the others either Patti.

"Although he has a job with regular hours, I never know when to expect him home, yet he seems to think I ought to be able to produce a perfectly cooked meal the moment he enters the house."
That was from a book dated from a bout 1939, called Everybody's Best Friend which delivers sage advice for everyone. Page 52 is in the chapter headed 'For Better, For Worse' under 'All Men Have Their Faults'
The following advice to the query above was "Do not have a meal ready except at such times as you might reasonably expect him. Do not unduly hurry to prepare one when he arrives home at an unreasonable hour; in fact regulate your speed according to the disparity between the time he ought to appear and the time ha actually does"
Oh dear, future queries include "Is having a refrigerator a luxury?" "On an important social occasion should one aim at being strictly correct in speech or should the ordinary, everyday mode of expression be followed?" and "I have heard that if a person escapes from a mental home and is not recaptured within 14 days he cannot be taken back into the mental home, IS this correct?"
There is a lot to be learnt from this weighty tome.
An interesting slice of history there, Joo!
