I knew it wouldn't be very long for Fire. Just got an email saying I could download it :)

What chapter are you on in Graceling Leigh?

I'm on Ch. 23.

Camilla (cyqua) I read Graceling a while ago and have been waiting for a chance to get to Fire (and Bitterblue) - so if you guys end up doing a buddy read for it, I would love to join in :)

I listend through 34(?) last night, so I will be finishing it up tonight. I agree with what someone said earlier in the thread that the second half is a bit slower. I think it's because they are basically just traveling and there is not much going on.

I'll put the rest in spoilers until you've gotten this far...(view spoiler) Looking forward to finishing :)

I just finished. I can tell you I teared up a couple of times. This second part was slow. I agree about the ring. I am happy about the ending.

Ok, finished. I liked how it ended too. However, I am a bit disappointed that there won't be another book on Po and Katsa. The way it ended left room for more to their story. I know we see Bitterblue later, so hopefully they'll be in that one a bit too.

I would like to see more of Po and Katsa, too. I like Bitterblue. I am wondering what will happen in her book? What did you think about Lex beng at Po's castle? I was totally shocked! I cried when we found out about Po's blindness.

I like Bitterblue too :)

I was surprised too about him being at the castle. I hadn't been expecting that.

I felt sorry for Po. I figured something was going to be wrong with him, but I thought it would be something different...maybe he hurt his leg or something. I like how it resolved, though.

It's not just Fire. I can't get any books to load. Itunes just did an update a couple of days ago...I'll have to figure out what they did.

So upon reading some of the other reviews for Graceling, there are quite a few people who seemed a bit put off by the strong feminist characteristics of the book. I saw a few comments on the anti-marriage, anti-baby thing and also on Katsa's character in relation to her feelings towards fancy dresses, long hair, etc.

However I think that's part of the reason I liked her :) I would not have even given it a thought if it had not been pointed out in the reviews. My feeling is just because you're a girl does not mean you have to like dresses. What do you think about that?

Just because you wear pants and have short hair that doesn't make you less of a girl. I think long hair and dresses are a traditional starndard that doesn't apply in today's society. I also think because of the way she was raise and the person she preceive herself to be molded her opinion on marriage and her hair.

I agree. In the world they lived in, or back in the days of queens and kings, women didn't wear pants, and I think the more feminine the better. However, I think you're right about the way she grew up molding the way she perceived herself. She had seen herself as a monster most of her life...I'm sure she didn't want to bring that on someone else. Although, if anyone could change her mind I'm sure it would be Po :)

I think if she continued the story with Katsa and Po, we would she a change in her opinion on marriage. You could she some change at the end of this book and I could see the growth in her character.
