Yeah, I don't always get notifications either, so I occasionally pop onto the home page to see the threads I'm missing out on. Goodreads can be a tad inconsistent at times.
So a quick update, and my apologies for being so out of pocket lately. My daughter arrived into the world three weeks early as a technical preemie (meaning 3 weeks is considered term, but her growth was behind by a few weeks already, so they declared her a preemie). She's been a bit of a handful, but she's finally getting into a schedule, so I'm getting a bit more sleep. I'm hoping I can be back around here in a few weeks time and reading again. I also have book 2 to launch (delayed now because of my little one)...fingers crossed, anyway. I just don't want you guys to think I've forgotten about you. I really miss goodreads and this group!
Anything having to do with babies- I totally understand and it's no biggie. Relax and enjoy your little one!
Oh, yeah - thanks for letting us know, Kristen! Enjoy every moment you can (which can sometimes be challenging when you're sleep deprived, so take lots of photos and film to remind yourself later!!!)
Congratulations, Kristen, on a whole, healthy, living child you get "fatten up" the old fashioned way--on lovin from the kitchen (and books for the mind)Don't forget to take care of yourself! The #1 most-important gift you can ever give your child is YOU--whole, healthy, ready/able/willing to be there. No child ever "really" wants more (or not until society tells them to and their parents are silent about any opposing views).

Also don't feel badly for being offline and out of touch; I have not had the valid excuse of delivering a new life into the world and yet I have also managed to NOT be around (LOL)

Totally agree with Sarah there - take care of yourself!!! Rest even if the laundry piles up a bit. The house doesn't have to be spotless. Really. And sterile clean is very overrated and bad for kids' immune systems.
And sterile clean is very overrated and bad for kids' immune systems.Agreed!
Prime example... my mom did that apparently.
Literally disinfected the house daily.
First time I left the house, I ended up with Pneumonia.
A few germs are required... definitely.
:)
Here here to moms who leave a bit of grime on the floor.I've even read that kids need to run around on grass and dirt barefoot, because there are healthy bacteria we get that way. Works for me. My kids' feet are almost permanently stained the colour of the red soil of Kenya!
Lol. c: I still go out barefoot in the spring and summer (summer it's usually too hot but for some reason, my boyfriend's isn't).My feet end up teh same color as the sandy muk at teh beach and they don't go back to my skin color until about mid Spet or so. c:
LOL! Between her various bruises and normal dirt - I couldn't actually tell you what my youngest's natural skin colour is! :DShe's quite literally a little accident just waiting to happen!
But I must agree... I prefer being barefoot.
@ Rachel - beach walks are the best!! :)
