Nick, I think you have excellent grounds for a civil suit bc of pain and suffering. If the jury has bibliophiles on it, you'll be set for life.

I think Nick qualifies for both.
I just checked on my order. I placed the order yesterday and they still have not told me that it's been shipped. For an Amazon seller, this is slow. I'm getting worried. I'm suspicious. Who would work at a book store? A book lover. Who would want to snatch this gem? A book lover working in a book store. You can't trust anybody!

I took a look at the book and joined this group because I've seen Gouey's work in person. I met the man behind Ultramarine Press, Chris Stephens, years ago at his used bookstore, Riverrun Rare Books in Hastings-On-Hudson. My interest came from his connection with Samuel R. Delany. I bought my Dragon Press SRD books from him. He also did limited signed small runs of Delany's autobiography in full and quarter leather. Dennis Gouey hand binds the text block from the original edition. A signed limitation page is added to the material. It was a long time ago (pre-Ebay days), but I remember being very impressed with the books, though I decided to go for the regular edition of Delany's book because it was a lot cheaper.
That seller still have not confirmed they've shipped the book. Is it missing? Are they scouring the place for it? The suspense is killing me! I don't really bite my nails, but if I do, my fingers would be stumps by now.

Does making your own handcrafted books count? I use cardboard, make artsy covers and bind it with string and twig.
Whoo-hoo!!! I've just been notified that W&M have shipped!!! I'm almost 2/3 into Skippy Dies. I need to write 3 reviews, then it's to W&M! And I'm all alone this weekend so I can focus. Yay!!! Only a geek girl would be happy she's dateless on a weekend.

Dang, I've been bit. I started my search for this book tonight. I checked the Savers and Good Will. Does anyone know what the original print run was on it? I'm wondering how unrealistic my search is. There's a good library book sale this weekend I'm going to try.

Other than that copy, I've only ever seen it on a bookshop shelf one other time. But you know that there must be copies sitting on dusty shelves somewhere, fully unrecognized as the highly sought after volume which it is. Keep the eyes peeled.
The hardcover did receive a second print run; both must have been fairly small. Dalkey ran the paperback years later, but I've no clue how many they printed.

There won't be another Dalkey edition of the book because of the ebook rights having been sold by McElroy's agent to Dzanc. It's their baba now.
Maybe that's why the Dalkey edition prices shot up.

That's what I understood to be their whole raisin d'etre, to keep thing in print.
Well my understanding is that by the time a reprint could have been considered the agent had acted in a way which made that impossible and to judge from your correspondence, I would say that a new print edition is unlikely be published by Dzanc either except,perhaps, through print-on-demand .

No luck on finding Women and Men at the library book sale today. I did find a hardcover copy of House of Leaves to replace my falling apart paperback, though.
Ooh, nice find. I love my copy of HoL. I wish I can find a better looking hardback of Gödel, Escher, Bach: An Eternal Golden Braid. I have the old edition. I'll have to see whether the 20th anniversary edition comes in hardback.

I'm going into hiding. BTW, did you see me post that I snagged A Smuggler's Bible, hardback 1966 first edition for 77 cents? The next price up is 30 dollars all the way to 150 dollars for a hardback.
I scoured the web for a HB of Women and Men for a reasonable price. Couldn't find one. I did treat myself to a like new HB of Actress in the House for 4 cents. I'm gathering up a collection of McElroy hardbacks.
And I was hoping to find a HB and post the link here, not to hoard all the McElroy HBs for myself. One Women and Men HB is enough for me.

Ha, that's great. Was it way bigger than you were expecting? I couldn't believe how big mine was when I got it. Your edition looks like it is in such pristine condition. Congrats man, that's quite a thing to own right there.
It's massive, but roughly the same size as my first ed. of Against The Day so not too big of a shock.

But it's a library copy, so it should have good binding. I have two other McElroy hardbacks coming in, too. I love having a collection mission.

Dzanc policy, I believe, is to include a free ebook copy when ordering print books directly from them.
Both books are slated for June 11, 2013 publication.
Loved the pics! Thanks for "opening" it with us. One of the uglier packaging jobs I've seen, but at least it was sturdy.One of my ugliest book packaging experiences was a book being shipped to me in a Stove Top Stuffing box. Fortunately,the book wasn't all that special just a cheap paperback.

I wish they were still wrapping things in beautiful decorative paper, like when the Impressionists were influenced by the Japanese hand made paper that was used to wrap packages.
