Also, there's a camp-fire ghost story in Dark Mountain that creeped me out.
Just like scary books and stuff but my biggest fear, is fear its self

His use of one long take moving in (or away) from the subject was groundbreaking. Look at how well it was used in LOTR when they were fleeing over the bridge from the Balrog.
I can't remember specific movies but I do remember scenes. One where the camera moved towards the house, to the window, in the window, through the room, down the stairs and to the main scene. all done in one shot. When done correctly, it really does add to the visual story so much better than a series of broken up shots.
The big thing about suspense is keeping it going, the more it builds the bigger the shock. If the scene stops for any reason, even for a second, all that suspense is lost or at least lessened.
M.Night is a creative director as well. I have always admired how every film has been so different from the others and they have been mostly successful as well.
I REALLY liked the one with the 'woman' in the pool hunted by the hellhound. Pure fantasy with great characters and an involved story. A mythology even. With some work it would probably make a good novel and I usually can't stand novels made from films.
