Jerry-Book here. Hope to reconnect with groups and friends. Two of my old groups moved to Leafmarks: Chronological Reading of American History and Going to the Library.
Hi all. This is Kat on Shelfari. Not sure what I come up as on this, as all I have done is imported (took four tries over two weeks) and started the long haul of finding any books that are missing. Glad to find this thread, found the link over on Shelfari, but still debating over Goodreads or else Leafmarks. The latter gave me much less trouble in pretty much everything.
Hi I'm Olympia I'm also from shelfaire, but I've here at Goodreads for awhile. So sad to see it go.
Kat, they just moved 89 out of my 740 books to GR and said the transfer was complete. Was support much help with this?
Good Morning All! Finally found several Shelfarians - Terrific! I first joined Shelfari in May of 2009 and am really sorry to see it go away.Anyway, I have been a member of Goodreads for sometime now, so let's move on!

I'm Laurie G on shelfari, (was ). My avatar is beach scene as always.I think it is the same one,but can't remember. I miss shelfari! Still getting used to GR.I had only used for books in past,never had groups. So getting familiar with it all. I am so glad we have this shelfari group on GR.!!!!! Just noticing that it is showing up as Laurie here on GR. hmmmm

Okay ... click on your avatar at the top of the screen to get a menu. Click on ACCOUNT SETTINGS
You'll see a variety of boxes - First Name / Middle Name / Last Name
Display Name
User Name
I think it's the DISPLAY NAME that you want to show as Laurie G to match what you had on Shelfari.
I'm a bit at a disadvantage because I set mine up so long ago and I use Book Concierge as my First Name -AND- my Display Name.
I never filled in the middle or last name fields. My settings show my user name as TessaBookConcierge.

Update- my display name is already Laurie G. GR is quirky!

Try changing your First Name field.
Hi I am Laurie W - same as on ShelfariMy avatar is a picture of me instead of various thing. It was usually Pooh Bear :)

The editors on Goodreads are called Librarians and you can apply to become one. Here is the link to the Goodreads Librarians Group

I don't think I ever introduced myself over here. I'm Lara and I went by "llevinso" over on Shelfari (same avatar). I ran the Who Doesn't Love a Classic group there and am TRYING to do the same here. I'm still not used to Goodreads though. Very different...

I haven't read any classics lately either! I feel like a faker ;)
I like to read my classics in the fall and winter,just to hunker down with them. I am having a difficult time just reading my light summer,beachy stuff.

I wish I could find out what groups my GR Friends belong to. Has anyone found out how to do this?

Click on the member's profile ... scroll to the bottom and you'll find a list of that person's groups. Be sure to click on the More of (Member's) groups link so that you get ALL the groups.

Shelfari opened me up and I got so close to the shelfari community it isn't the same
Hey everyone! I just found this shelfari refugee group and I'm so happy to see so many people from shelfari on here! I'm still so depressed shelfari is gone :( I don't like how Goodreads functions at all and I lost all of my shelfari friends except for 2 of whom I was able to get into contact with before. Anyways, my shelfari name if I can remember correctly was with AmberRavenwood. Might have been something else. I can't quite remember TT

I was on there for quite a while too. Around when did you join? And I always had the same photo on there, but it wasn't of me. It was a black and white closeup of a girl with short dark hair if that rings a bell haha. And yeah Jerry, Shelfari was great. Glad to see so many others miss it. Shelfari I felt was the one community I truly belonged to. I made so many good friends on there.

I'm going to stick my head in and say hi! I was one of the last remaining librarians approving stuff over at Shelfari. I still do miss it. After a few slow years of not reading because of full time work and uni - I have decided for more self care - which is more reading! I am also down to my last subject which helps :)Its good to see some familiar names.
