Of course the movie is going to suck if the book is so absolutely horrid! The only reason it could suck worse than the book is because someone might waste another couple of hours of their life watching a movie when they already knew how crappy the book was.

The movie was awful!! I can never watch it again! They changed so much! As a big Eragon fan I was very upset. They should make Eragon as a movie again now that they have more technology. They should still make a movie on Eldest, Brisingr and Inheritence though.
The movie sucked, but at least it was coherant…which of course made it 100 times better than the book.
I do agree with you that the Eragon movie could be some decent fantasy fodder for a proper movie made with a competant director."This would only work if they got a competant writer to re-write the books. Then the director might have something to work with.
I hate the movie, love the book but aren't they supposed to have a second movie they left an opening for it.

Really!? My brother's been hacking into my Goodreads account again...well, taking my Kndle, I mean.

The movie was like comparing Twilight to Harry Potter; that's how terrible it was.

How about we just let peter Jackson do the movie adaptions of all epic novels.
Was so bad I've already forgotten the movie's details. Oh, wait--there wasn't much detail afterall, now was it?
The Book was awesome but the movie sucked! I can't believe the horrid changes they put into it! Thankfully there won't be a 2nd movie!
I didn't like how they messed up the plot line so badly. It was horrible as most movies based off books are.
The movie absolutely killed the book. I was so excited since I loved the books and the movie.... sigh everything was all wrong. Everything isn't as you imagine it, special effects suck, and there is a lot of missing things. :'(
okay lets review, so far as I can there are five problems with the movie1. character acting and description, ( arya is an elf)
2. the way eragon and saphira communicate ( am i the only one that noticed that?)
3. order of events(broms death ext)
4. small details, murtagh wanted to go to the varden, the star sapphire breaking, ext)
5. big details ( meeting of joed, The raazac being dead, and meeting oromis's mind.)
sooooo... does anyone else want to add to this, I know I already said this, but I still can't get over it.
The movie was not very good! I probably would have gone to see the other ones in the theaters though if they had been made

I can't even picture what the characters of the book really look like anymore thanks to the movie, because they couldn't even get that right!
one of the worst movies, it sucked big time
I am so glad that someone else think this was!! My daughter and I were beyond disappointed to watch the movie after reading the spectacular book.
The movie is really pathetic compared to the book.Wasted three hours of my life watching that movie.
The Eragon movie was absolute crap compared to the books! An okay movie, if you have NO knowledge of the books, but I totally think it should have been up there with the works of LOTR, in terms of ''accuracy'' and length, but nope.. Missed out every important feature and at times the screening was way too dark to even see anything. An utter disgrace to the Inheritance Cycle books, I think.
Andrew wrote: "The movie didn't have any details and all the characters wre wrong!"Here, here. I was shocked when I saw the movie with my friend. It was a joke, like, ha the books are so good we will just make a little kid type movie and take out all the complicated elements. But beautiful stuff should not be messed with. I wonder how the author felt. I almost wrote him a sympathy letter--his work deserves better!

I agree with those who say the books are hard reading. They are all massive, I listened to the 3rd on tape just for a change.
And I agree that this movie could have been done the right way, honoring the book as a worthy story, not turning it into a little kid's romp.
It reminds me of The Dark is Rising movie. I loved the books. Saw the movie. It is one of those coming of age jokes with all the mystic beauty of the book removed.
I mean, the books were epic, the movie lame.
Same with the Eragon movie. They could have made it riveting or at least breathtaking.

Are you saying How to Train your Dragon is based on Eragon!!!!??
I don't believe it. I thought that was just a little kid viking/dragon movie. Like the summer flicks that only kids enjoy, unless they are beautiful like some of the old Disney tales.

I don't blame him. His work is serious reading, not a small child's story.

Oh, good, it wasn't related to Eragon then. Whew. Glad to hear that.

Ha, I actually laughed hard when I read this.
Once again I agree with everyone who says the movie dishonors the book or just turns it into, shall we say, A cartoon of the original masterpiece.
Worst book to movie ever made.
The movie didnt even.... it just.... ewwwwwwww. it wasnt even good. i mean the special effects were... ok?just horrid.
The movie was absolutely dreadful. The worst thing for me was that Eragon and Arya seemed to be heading for a romance while in the early books, she thought of him as a child. I read all the books but I didn't think they were the best ever written or anything. The books seemed like half of the Inheritance Cycle world was stolen from Tolkien, even down to having the elves speak a liquid sounding Romance type language while the dwarfs spoke a harsh Germanic sounding tongue. It was quite good considering the age of the author though.

I think that was a completely different movie called "How to Train Your Dragon" , which is based on a book series that goes by the same title. I have not read the books, but I hear that it is an inaccurate interpretation.
The movie of Eragon is called Eragon. Like most film adaptations, the plot is twisted and missing detail. It REALLY sucks compared to the books, and I do not understand how people understand what is going on in he movie without first reading the books.
The question is more..who DID like it? For those who actually read the books then. People who only saw the movie have nothing to compare it to but they screwed up massively. Major plot holes and they messed it up so bad that they couldn't make a second movie (and there are 4 bloody books I mean seriously!!!) I love the books. I keep reading them and they are still amazing every time but the movie is just...one big dissapointment. I expected so much more.
