Bookluvr luvr I hated the movie. first of all they did mention Katrina! secondly the actors were pretty bad and the movie didn't say why Roran moved for a job! and another thing is they didn't mention solembom! did you know that christopher pa.. oh however you spell his last name.. got so mad at the movie that he fired all the actors and threw a huge tamtrom

Heather It was a shame the movie wasn't truer to the book. My guess is that maybe it made on a low budget because it could have been truly fantastic. Maybe someday there will be another chance at a movie and they'll get it right next time. In the meantime, the books are great.

Pablo Soria The worst thing is that they actually can make good movies about that serie of books but they do that bullshit

Samantha The Escapist Mockingjay4421ncis wrote: "Well, then are you guys saying I shouldn't see the movie? Because I was going to but I figured it wouldn't be good though..."

If you feel like watching an hour or two of modern day fantasy schlock by all means go for it. As a fan of the series you may find some value in seeing the movie just for the sake of it, whether you like it or not it still might be fun. It's not a good movie, but then neither are all the fan-made trailers and half the fan art and fanfics people squee about on a regular basis.

If you are at all able to enjoy movies without actually thinking they're good what do you have to lose?

☻♥♦David♣♠☺ The book was amazing, all of them (the author and the books) but the movie was just plain bad

Akash bhardwaj movie did just not suck..
it was completely screwed up...

Brittany Gough The movie was plain awful! It had so much important information missing and the characters were wrong, I only watched it once and will never watch it again. I had high hopes for the movie but I was completely horrified how it turned out

Assen Stoianov THE FILM SUCKS... It's horrible! The dragon ages as any living thing not like oh one second it's a youngling and then fully grown! WTF?!?! Plus Eragon gave her her name! In the film she just figured it on her own!!!

Which was funny because at first it seemed like they weren't going to go the angle of her having any knowledge of her kind from before, but later she confirms some dragony thing Brom says and there is no basis for her knowing that because it wasn`t established that she`s connected to the ancients.

Rain Seithr The book was written with a good storyline and it was a great action; adventure; with a hint of romance - On the other hand was the movie; it was made with very little of the book i think and could of been better but it was still a good movie and i liked who they cast for the characters.

Charlie movie sucked.
book was great
thats all there is to it

Kristina I honestly think that the books are MUCH better than the movie. The producers mucked it up so that there can't be a second movie!!!!!!
And then they mushed up all the places and the time in which they should have met Eragon. None of the tings matched up, like they did a lot of travelling (in the book) but in the movie, they like, showed non of that.
I think that the Producers could have done a much better job.

Jeffrey Hamlin The book series was awesome, but the movie is horrible - IF you have read the book.
Otherwise you will find it enjoyable as a moderate budget fantasy film, not great but enjoyable.

Olivia Parsons Yup, they butchered it.

Cat I loved the book. The movie was just plain horrible.

How to train your dragon was a movie adaption of a book series for kids. Get your facts right, kiddo.

Back to topic:
At least the movie had some nice effects. The characters in the book are idiots most of the time. Even Brom had his moments. The one person with the most sense is Murtagh.
In the movie you get Eragon portrayed as the arrogant stupid wimp he actually is. That's okay. Since the story was cliche'd fantasy anyway, you can't really be surprised that the movie is too.

message 67: by [deleted user] (new)

I think that the whole story line of the movie was just a disgrace to the books, and that every single event was just made up by the movie business because the book just "didn't fit the movie". Come on guys!!!! The books were amazing and the only thing I really liked about the movie were the actor for Brom, Mur'tahg and Eragon. Arya was a total flop in the movie LETS SEE SOME FIGHT THERE GIRRRRLLLLL!!!!!! YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE ISLANZADI'S DAUGHTER FOR PETE'S FREAKING SAKE!!!!!!

Angelus: Lupus tenebris Angeli they really messed it up that's the sensored version

Shannon .....there was a movie?

message 70: by Steven (new) - added it

Steven Hoogstraten I DO

Akash bhardwaj the movie sucks..
it cannot be compared with the book
it was like a fake story
sapphira grows into a full dragon in 2 minutes!!!
it was disaster...

message 72: by Zoé (new) - rated it 5 stars

Zoé Yes, absolutely. I want them to redo the movie, with more details like the book. Eragon deserves better than this!

Sebastian Brand I agree, someone like Gary Ross should direct a remake of Eragon with a proper cast and script, because he did a good job with the hunger games in my opinion.
Though tge chances of anyone doing Eragon again in the near future are slim -.-

Jason I couldn't agree more. I felt after reading the books that created such a vivid imagination in my head, that the movies were messed up. Its not that the technology is bad but the fact that the whole story line is messed up and some events dont even make sense!!! And after waiting so long for the author to finish the books you think you could expect a decent movie. No wonder they never bothered to finish the movies. The directors missed out big time right there, they could have made a bunch of money off the movies. If it was anything like the HOBITT they could have made multiple parts. I think tha they just rushed the entire movie like the author did with the books. I felt good in the beginning but they lost me near the end.

Lexie Let's put it this way. My family told me to be quiet after I was complaining for 30 min. I still wasn't done yet.

It was horrible

Maddi I quite enjoyed the movie, although it could have been better.

You're talking about the wrong movie. The Eragon adaptation was named Eragon. How to Train Your Dragon was an adaptation of a kid's series called How To Train Your Dragon...just saying. If it was supposed to be a joke, then sorry for partially killing it.

Sebastian Brand Well, they'd be better off saying that how to tame your dragon was the movie adaptation of Eragon... At least that was a decent movie, the acting in Eragon was absolute balls.

Samantha The Escapist Lol Claudia, Leah was definitely joking. I guess I was wrong when I told her it would be funnier if it were more subtle.

Alicia Matthews walked out of the movie when i saw it in theaters, it was so bad i got my money back and was glad when i found out they weren't making eldest into a movie

Cassandra I actually saw the movie before I read the book due to my being around 8 when the movie came out. I liked it when I saw it, and was confused about why my sister, who had read it, was talking about how terrible it was. I read the book a few years afterward, and was really confused for a couple pages. My foggy memory of the movie combined with the terribleness of the movie lead me to believe that Eragon was the dragon--that was somewhat of a major part of the plot.

Laura Wattie Let's be perfectly honest here. The book is not exactly well written (star wars/LOTR heavy influenced) but still the movie could have easily made it better. But the movie is bad, terribly bad its like the fantasy movies of the 80s just before LOTR and Harry Potter shaped the fantasy genre on the film screen and made it a viable genre. Lets just leave this film as mindless entertainment.

Neville Ridley-smith One of the worst things was the Dwarven kingdom - in the book it's described as this amazing place. In the movie it's just some ho-hum place where it's not even clear there are even any dwarves!

Draven The movie was awful. I hope they'd do a remake and have a better adaptation of the book!

Melanie Stockton i know i do because the book is more interesting than the movie itself

message 86: by Dylan (new)

Dylan Heyman Really, they did two things right.

The actor who portrayed Brom looked how I pictures the character.

Saphira's voice was excellent.

Oter than that, the only thing they did right was butcher the story so badly that they can't possibly make a sequel. Therefore, they can't screw up any more of the series. Yay!

Jasmine Matthews i didn't like the way the movie was made compared to the books i am happy enough to read the books again

Olivia The movie was terrible, it was seriously rushed and the story line was rushed. For example he left carville in the book to avenge harrows death and kill the raazac. In the movie he leaves to run away. The way they bring in mertagh was wrong too. And the way he killed Durza. The last point I will make was in the book dragon leaves to elessmera with Arya in the movie Arya leaves by herself. It was messed up.

Shani I do. really dissapointed!

message 90: by Ella (new) - rated it 5 stars

Ella YES!!!!! the movie was horrible and skipped a lot of key components(to me) from the book. :(

Olivia I agree it puts the books to shame

message 92: by Ella (new) - rated it 5 stars

Ella it does!!!! my friend wouldn't read the book becausethe movie sucked. sobs, why, WHY!!!!!!

Olivia In the movie they hardly ever told us Arya was an elf. She didn't even look like one

message 94: by Ella (new) - rated it 5 stars

Ella yeah I shunned the movie after only like 12 minutes!!!!

Olivia I was watching it its my younger sister Who is 9 telling her it was like only the best books. She was never scared. She goes that was boring you end terrible books. Because you couldn't see the fighting. And she Said the way he killed Durza was boring. That's terrible not to at least interest a 9 had old girl.

message 96: by Ella (new) - rated it 5 stars

Ella wow and I can't believe that chris paolini let them make that movie!!!!!

Alexis Haha! The better title for this thread would be "Who didn't think that the Eragon movie sucked?" That could be interesting. . .

Olivia That would be interesting

message 99: by [deleted user] (new)

ME! IT SUCKED! Like, Murtagh is like in it for 5 seconds, Arya isn't even the same SPECIES??? And what happened to the whole journey Eragon was on, I mean, they just cut that whole storyline out right there...it was sooo stupid!

Melanie Stockton Also at the end of the book, eragon goes with arya but in the movie he goes back after saying bye to her
