When Gatsby spoke to Jordan in his library in Ch. 3, he devised a plan involving Nick. What was it? Why did he not ask Nick directly?

Josh Smith | 18 comments the plan that Gatsby discusses with Jordan is to have Nick invite Daisy over for tea and have Gatsby come over during this small tea party so they may meet again. this is finally revealed to Nick in the end of chapter 4 (pg. 78 & 79) Jordan asks Nick that "Gatsby wants to know if you'll invite Daisy over to your house some afternoon and then let him come over." Jordan also says "He also thought you might offended." and because Gatsby didn't want Nick to be offended he didn't ask Nick directly.

Lyon Rivera | 16 comments The plan discussed in the library between Gatsby and Jordan was about using nick to set up a meeting with Daisy. Gatsby didn't ask nick directly because he didn't know him well enough so he asked Jordan. "I beg your pardon, but Mr. Gatsby would like to speak to you alone."

Valeria Ferrer | 9 comments The plan that Gatsby discussed with Jordan was to have Nick invite Daisy over for tea so that Gatsby and Daisy could meet again. They finally tell Nick about the plan in Chapter 4. "Gatsby wants to know if you'll invite Daisy over to your house some afternoon and then let him come over" Gatsby didn't ask directly because he doesn't really know Gatsby and didn't want him to get offended.

Jesus | 21 comments When Gatsby spoke to Jordan it was so he could ask a favor of her. This favor so that Jordan would ask Nick to invite Daisy over, so she could look at his house. "He wants to know if you'll invite Daisy to your house some afternoon an then let him come over." Nick asks Jordan why didnt Gatsby ask him directly. Jordan tells him he was affraid that he would be offended pg78. The reason that gatsby involved nick was because he was his nieghbor "he wants her to see his house and yours is right next door."

Andrea | 18 comments He asks a favor of Jordan to arrange a meeting with daisy and him with nicks help. When gatsby arranges jordan and nick to have tea Jordan asks nick," if youll invite daisy over to your house some afternoon and then let him come over" (pg 78) gatsby thought he had waited to long and might have offended nick.

the plan was for Jordan baker to arrange a meeting with daisy and Gatsby with nicks help."He wants to know if you'll invite Daisy to your house some afternoon an then let him come over." pg 78
the reason that Gatsby does not ask nick directly is because " he's afraid he's waited so long. He thought you might be offended. you see he's a regular tough underneath it all."pg 78
