Silence (Hush, Hush, #3) by Becca Fitzpatrick

Shelf for Nov 11:2012
Book Chosen:Silence~Becca Fitzpatrick
Date Read:Nov 11,2012
Rating:4♥♥♥♥
Review: I will start off this review saying that it has taken me a good 3 years to finally decide to pick up Becca Fitzpatrick's Hush Hush series to read.I've read many glowing reviews about how much everyone loves this series but for me I have to say it's not exactually love it's more like, I like the series, that being said I did enjoy this enstallment in the series , there was lots of action, double crossing and somewhat of a romantic element thrown in.

Nora our main character is returned home from being kidnapped and spends the entirety of the book trying to figure out what happened to her,of course there is danger at every turn and plenty of skeevy characters to keep you guessing as to who did what.
Patch our other major player in this story is the darkly handsome character that always keeps you guessing as to what his motives are through out the story but turns out to be sweet and sensitive to what Nora's going through.

I will definately be moving right along to the final book in the series because at this point I have to know what will happen with Patch and Nora's relationship , will they get their happy ever after? I guess I'll just have to keep reading and find out.

Ceri (allforbooks) | 46 comments Hi Kat

My sister in law loved the book, she really liked the shiver books but they were not that great for me. I am exactly the same about the hush, hush series as you. i read the first one a few years ago but have never continued, but the reviews have been bringing me back to this series. So i will be reading them soon. I have noticed that you have been reading the kate daniels series, that is one of my absolute fav. Kate and Curran are just awesome. You will have to try the edge series, they are just as good, just no curran :(

i will try to do my review justice, i am not as good as you guys but i am an avid review reader,

THE RAVEN BOYS

This is a story about a 16 year girl named Blue who lives a very ecentric life with her family of phycic. Blue has been told by her family her whole life that she will kill her true love with a kiss. The two rules blue lives by, are to Never kiss a boy and to stay away from Raven boys, who attend an exclusive and rich bordering school in her town.

On St. Marks even Blue for the first time sees a spirit, when she asks him his name he says Gansey. This is the beginning of her friendship with four very different raven boys.

This story is very even paced, it is not a slow book, it magages to engage you the whole way. I was surprised by the amount of magic and mystery in this book. All four boys have such unique stories and personalities and its great that alot of the story is told from their perspecticve.

The Raven boys were on a quest and Blue has become the piece they were missing, although it does not end with a cliff hanger, it leaves you ready to pick up the next book. This was a surprising and enjoyable story.

I absolutely loved the epilogue to this! I'm guessing the author had only planned to write the first six books in this series cause of the the way the epilogue read. Thankfully, she wrote more ;) I am anxious to get to Chillingsworth's book :)

Sandra | 25908 comments Chillingsworth's book is a good one Susan. Francesca is certainly feisty!

That's good to know. I've felt like there wasn't much difference between the heroes in the last couple of books. For that matter, the heroines have been very similar too. I've loved Chillingsworth all along, so I want good things for him :)

new shelf is up shifters

this is a winning shelf for team 10 but they still need 2 stamps plus this new shelf stamp to win, I've been checking them out and it's down to just 1 review for each stamp that they need so it is very possible that the game could be over this week if they get all there reviews in and stamps requested.

message 368: by [deleted user] (new)

so for this weeks shelf i'm going to read Dark Embers (Dragon's Heat #1) by Tessa Adams

Jeann (Happy Indulgence) (happyindulgence) | 1151 comments Oh wow, winning shelf already! I'll read Kitty and the Silver Bullet (Kitty Norville, #4) by Carrie Vaughn

Review

"The man in black fled across the desert and the Gunslinger followed..." I love love love this series. Stephen King is my fav author of all time and this series embodies everything I love about his writing. It follows Roland of Giliead on his quest to reach the Dark Tower. I read and finished this series years ago so this was a re-read for me. If you've ever read the series I highly recommend re-reading at least this first book. It ties so much together and so much more makes since. I caught so many things that brought the whole books together that I didn't remember by the time I finished book 7. Roland and Jake's relationship has so many levels to it and "Go then there are other worlds then these" will stick with me all me life :) I also can't look at the song "hey Jude" the same after these books. The world created its a mix of fantasy tied with real life history and time travel. There is symbolism in EVERYING. I will continue re-reading these books and highly recommended them to anyone who enjoys a good dark fantasy that is still tied into the modern world.

Jeann (Happy Indulgence) (happyindulgence) | 1151 comments Chasing Magic (Downside Ghosts, #5) by Stacia Kane
Shelf: 2012
Rating: 5 stars
Date Read: 19/11/12
Goodreads Review: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

Chasing Magic did not live up to the last two books in the series for me. Usually we’ve been guided with a Church case and/or a murderous case in Downside. While this book started off with a murderous case, there seemed to be a lot of elements coming into play here. The case was not central to the plot, and a lot of other things were happening in Chess’s life and it just took me a while longer to get into it.

Sorry lazy review just copied and pasted some of it:

The Mayfair Moon (The Darkwoods Trilogy, #1) by J.A. Redmerski

This was a great read, and a great start to a new series ( for me). I havent read a shifter book in awhile, but Adria grabs you right from the start. Adria moves to a new town after her sister and her are attacked. Due to the fact the child servies think her parents made all the bruises, they are sent to live with her uncle.

Soon Adria is followed by Issac and his friends and also the vargas brothers. She soon realizes that she is in the middle of battle that she knows nothing about.

In a town populated by a turf war of massive werewolf beasts Adria has suddenly become the most important player.

Adria and Issac will make you pick up the second book as soon as you are done.
