Amy (redheadmommy06) | 67 comments There is a ton of books on the demon shelf that look really good. But Amazon wont load and it's driving me crazy. There are a bunch of books on sale in the Kindle store for 2.99 and if any of these demon books are on sale that may help sway my decision on which one to pick :) Quite a few if not most of the sale books I checked earlier were supernatural books, I'm guessing because it is October and Halloween time (Marked, House of Night was only 2.99) Now come on Amazon and LOAD!!

Jeann (Happy Indulgence) (happyindulgence) | 1151 comments Jessica, Rachel Caine is one of my favourite authors as well! I've been following her weather warden series which is awesome. I'm meeting her at a convention next month and I'm really excited!

A Discovery of Witches (All Souls Trilogy, #1) by Deborah Harkness is ok, but get ready for an adult Twilight. I just read the 2nd one and it was way too frustrating for me.

Great review Amy, I've heard good things about Marked but read that later on the series gets really lame. Probably dragged on for too long.

Amy (redheadmommy06) | 67 comments Yay!! For my Demons book I am reading Succubus Blues I'm %36 done, and loving it so far. I picked this since we were just talking about the Vampire Diaries and I've never read anything else by Richelle Mead so I am giving her other work a chance, She's not disappointing me so far :)

Jeann (Happy Indulgence) (happyindulgence) | 1151 comments omg i LOVE that series Amy! That's exactly how I started the whole urban fantasy trend.

I love both VA and the Georgina Kincaid series, but loathed the Dark Swan series. Too much S&M fairy bondage for my liking and the weird rape.

How is Amy and Ceri going with your free space reads?

Amy (redheadmommy06) | 67 comments Re: Free Space.... Can someone recommend me something for my free space? I had a terrible time trying to pick on my own and gave up. This last Sunday I ended up in the ER with a pinched hernia, so I'm resting for the next couple of days and catching up on reading :) I didn't even know I could get a hernia, I thought those were only for middle aged over weight men :/

This book is really good, I'm glad Georgina is not a teenager, it feels like the last 6 books I've read the main characters have all been teens. And I think I'll skip the Dark Swan series....weird rape is usually not to entertaining to read about but I am enjoying the sex and sex talk in this one :)

message 263: by Susan (susayq ~) (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 247 comments Amy, since you're enjoying the Georgina books, why not read book 2 for your free space. It's on our group bookshelf so it would work.

I'm sorry about the hernia. Wish there was something I could do for you. But at least you'll have some uninterrupted reading time ;)

message 264: by Amy (new)

Amy (redheadmommy06) | 67 comments Thanks Susan, I didn't know book two would qualify, but I will do that :) I'm doing better today, just sore. I have awesome Family and friends that have been a huge help so I'm feeling pretty lucky.

message 265: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Amy, sorry to hear you've got a hernia. Is that even possible? Of course it is cause you've got one. Get better soon!

Jeann (Happy Indulgence) (happyindulgence) | 1151 comments Oh Amy, that sounds like you've had a bad run! Hope you recover from it quickly. Book 2 of the GK series sounds great. It only gets better, and I really like Seth and Georgina herself.

The sex isn't over the top even though she's a Succubus, and i just love the humour in that one. The demon underworld is hilarious.

message 267: by Amy (new)

Amy (redheadmommy06) | 67 comments Thank you guys...almost done with Succubus Blues (Georgina Kincaid, #1) by Richelle Mead and I loved it! For sure going to go straight into book two. I will be posting my review tomorrow. It's "wear a crazy hat" day tomorrow at my 6 year old daughter's school for drug free week, so we stayed up late hot gluing all kinds of beads, buttons, random broken pieces of jewelry, sun flower seeds..you name it, on to a pink baseball cap she has. It turned out really cute but took longer then I expected so I better go finish my book and get to bed, lol

Finished my demons book and really enjoyed it :)

Magic Burns (Kate Daniels, #2) by Ilona Andrews

Shelf for Oct 21:Demons
Book Chosen:Magic Burns ~ Ilona Andrews
Date Read:Oct 24,2012
Rating:4♥♥♥♥
Review:Once again Kate Daniels has gotten herself into a whole new kind of trouble. Not only does she have to deal with the usuall monsters with her job but now she has to deal with a coven of witches and a sea god who is hell bend on taking over Kate's little slice of paradise in Atlanta.

This series is still very new to me but i'm enjoying it a lot, the characters are hard ass and the action is so fast paced that It jumps from one battle to the other with hardly any notice. I really like the push pull relationship between Kate and Curran and can't wait to see where their relationship with lead. I will definately be continuing on with this series just for the awesomeness that the series give me.

Shelf: Demons
Book: Succubus Blues

Review:

I really enjoyed this book. Georgina is a great main character with her wit and struggles with guilt, plus she's immortal. The theme at the end of the book was the whole "Is it better to have loved and lost, then never have loved at all" question. Georgina is a Succubus and "feeds" of of the life force she sucks out of guys through psychical sexual contact. I loved that she can shape shift her clothes and makeup, how conveinet would that be? This is book one in the series and we are introduced to her friends (vampires, greater demons, angels) and slowly through out the book given Georgina's haunted back round and how she came about trading her soul, and what she got in return. There is quite the love struggles in this book and a mystery to solve (someone is going around killing immortals) The book was more about character development and plot then the history and world of demons, but it was kinda nice not to have to figure out another set of "supe rules" this time. It was a fast paced, captive read, I can honestly say no part of this book was boring and would recommend it. I am continuing this series so straight into book two I go :)

Jeann (Happy Indulgence) (happyindulgence) | 1151 comments Great review Amy and Kat! I have Ilona Andrews on my to-read list but gotta wait til I catch up with some series first.

Amy, I'm glad you loved Succubus Blues!

I freaking loved this book! Chess seems to spiral deeper into drug use and depression but then she has an emotional epiphany later in the book. I just love the complexity and the heavy feelings in this book. 5 Stars!

Book: Succubus on Top(Georgina Kincad #2)

Review:

I love this series! This is book two in the series and Georgina is back and between her job, her very long time friend Bastien (a succubi) being in town and needing her help on a succubi related job, her and Seth's relationship , the demon world, and of course a new mystery to solve, she is a busy busy woman. Which made for a very full interesting book. At no point was I bored.
Now that I'm done with book two I can say that some of the plot points are very predictable. I have figured out both "bad guys" from both books early on, but it hasn't bothered me it actually excites me when Georgina figures it out too and maybe the Author planned it this way for all readers, who knows. Also the job she is helping her friend on doesn't quite go the way he planned and I guessed the reason for that early on too and was right.
This book goes deeper into the logistics of the demon world then in book one and covered some unanswered questions I had. While Georgina is supposed to be a lesser demon and "evil" she still has so much good in her and struggles because of that. I felt like I struggled with her during those times and I just want her to be happy, but she's always so hard on herself.
The humor is to die for, I laughed out loud more times then I can count while reading. There is a part in the book where she wakes up and her cat Aubrey is laying across her neck sleeping, and she describes it as "dangerously close to cutting off her air supply" and maybe it's because I have three cats and they do that to me all the time, but I laughed and laughed so hard I had tears.
Last but not least...the sex. Sigh, it was wonderful. I would give three of my left toes to be able to shape shift clothes the way she does, especially the lingerie. I don't know if it's because she needs sex to live or what, but the sex scenes are amazing, and there are undertones left and right. Then there is her relationship with Seth a mortal..which means they CAN'T have sex because she doesn't want to be responsible for sucking some of the life out of him. Their lack of sex, or ANYTHING beyond a light kiss is painful. Really painful, lol I really just want them to do it already :)
Overall I really enjoyed this book and got lost in it to the fullest extent. I couldn't set it down till I was done. If you've read book one don't stop there, it just keeps getting better.

Amy (redheadmommy06) | 67 comments For favorite series I am going to read Iced (Dani O'Malley, #1) by Karen Marie Moning but it doesn't come out for two more days, so in the meantime I am going to finish my series catch-up :)

message 276: by Amy (new)

Amy (redheadmommy06) | 67 comments Ok wait, team captain I need you because I am confused. All the other Fever books by Karen Marie Moning are on the favorite series shelf, but ICED is not, it is just because it is not out yet, do you think it will count? If not I will probably read Insurgent (Divergent, #2) by Veronica Roth But I really want to read ICED and fit it in somewhere so let me know what you think

Jeann (Happy Indulgence) (happyindulgence) | 1151 comments If it's not on the shelf it won't count. Favorite series is a Goodreads shelf, not a personal shelf. So as long as your book is on the Goodreads shelf then it will count. Hope that helps!

Love that you enjoyed book 2, great review!

Amy (redheadmommy06) | 67 comments I just got a message from my friend Breann team captain from team 8. Her and I have been obsessing over the Fever series together for years, anyways she said two people have shelved ICED under Favorite Series so she said it should count :) It's supposed to be a continuation of the Fever series, starting where Shadow Fever left off, only from a different character's pov

Foretold (The Demon Trappers, #4) by Jana Oliver

This is the final book in this series and Riley Blackthorne has been through everything. The loss of both parents, a target of hell and heaven and vatican demon hunters. She is definately a kick ass girl who should finally get the guy. Denver beck was her dads apprentice, and has looked out for, bossed around, yelled at and finally kissed Riley. This was their book to get it all sorted it out. Face Denvers past and finally become a couple. It is a good ending to a series and i wish there was more only because i would have liked more of Denver and Riley as a couple. yes, they finally sort their stuff out, but half way through the book and i would have liked to enjoy it a bit more. An great series.

Shelf:Demons
Rating: 4 stars
Date Finished: 10/30/12

This is what I hoped for with the first book in this series!

There was an amazing love story with great action. We got to watch Leo and Anne fall in love. Then we got to watch it all come crumbling down because Anne found out Leo's secret, that he had traded his soul to the Devil for the ability to see the future in business dealings. Leo realized not just the wrongness of giving the Devil his soul, but that he would do anything to be with Anne and save her. Thankfully, the love they built was strong enough for her to help him defeat the demons sent to harm him and help him get his soul back.

At the end when the other Hellraisers came to confront Leo and Whit (the hero from the first book) and Edmund (view spoiler)

With the way this book was so drastically different from the first, I'm now looking forward to the next one in the series.

Jeann (Happy Indulgence) (happyindulgence) | 1151 comments Firestorm (Weather Warden, #5) by Rachel Caine

Shelf: Demons
Rating: ★★★★★
Date Finished: 31/10/12

Woah, what a massively fast paced book! There was so much excitement in this one with all the impending doom upon the whole human race and it's Jo's job as a warden to protect it. It was good to see Jo kick butt here and I just wanted her and David to be happy.

If you like awesome kickass weather powers, Djinn (genies) taking over the world, and just all out action overall definitely pick up this series. It's really exciting and fast paced! Not to mention, this had the biggest cliffhanger ever.

Magic Slays (Kate Daniels, #5) by Ilona Andrews

Shelf for Oct 28:Favorite Series
Book Chosen:Magic Slays~Ilona Andrews
Date Read:Oct 31,2012
Rating:4♥♥♥♥
Review:Magic Slays is yet another great book in the world of Kate Daniels, it had tons of action and we got to visit with all the characters that we have come to love over the last four books of the series.

Although this one was not my favorite book in the series It still earned 4 out of 5 stars just for the action and character interactions alone, although I'm not completely sure was I didn't love this one as much as the others, I think it might have been that the plot was just a little to flat for me in this one but it in no way takes away form my love of this series and I will be defiantely continuing on with this series when book 6 is released in 2013.

I have to admit, I like Rose. I liked her snarky rebellious self in the first book. But I like her even more in this one where she's growing up, realizing her responsibilities, and putting others wants/needs/safety in front of hers. Her actions and reactions at the end of the book broke my heart. And I really, really, really hope she and Dimitri end up together :)
