Awwww. Thank you. ^_^

I'm going to read Angelfall (Penryn & the End of Days, #1) by Susan Ee for Demons. I've stayed away from it because everyone and their mother seems to like it (and I don't usually follow the majority with super popular YAs) but it's time for me to bite the bullet.

Michelle (michelle_mc) | 2158 comments Karen was lovely, she wouldn't talk about upcoming plot's or anything, she's declining from mentioning how many books it will take to finish the story as she said she can't always fit everything she wants to into one book.

I learned she is writing Cassie #6 and hopes to be finished by the end of the year. Dory #4 is next up to be written with a tentative release of end 2013/early 2014. Shadowland(?) should be finished and released pretty soon.

When I asked if there will be more Stinky, she replied
"you aint seen nothing yet!"

We tried to get her to tell us if there would be a crossover of sorts. She was pretty quiet but did say "there will be fallout from THAT plot thread in FK".
So take from that what you will ;)

She hoped for the series to be similar to Kelly Armstrong's Woman of the Otherworld in the sense of having 3 main female POV's (Claire being the 3rd). Publisher said no.

A little bit of hush hush news that made us squeal a little is that there has been a scrennplay written and it's being banded about just now...

We did lots of chatting about her dogs, holidays, halloween, movies, hawkeyes arms... ;)
If I think of anything else I will tell you.

Desperado (lethallovely) | 1360 comments Ha! Thanks for letting us know what went down in the KC chat, Michelle! Great news, though "awwww" about no Claire spinoff. I liked her in On the Prowl. =( But it looks like there might be a Dory AND Cassie book in 2013. *swoons*

You know, I didn't even know that was (view spoiler) at first in FK? People kept saying "OMG SHE AND DORY MET" and like WTF? WHEN?!!? I went back and reread the witchy scene last night and AHA! Real sneaky, KC. I guess because I know C has strawberry blonde hair that I missed it because they referred to her hair as "curly blonde". And because I'm stupid enough to think that when they met, C would actually have said "HEY I'M C!"

message 314: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (michelle_mc) | 2158 comments Oh... Forgot the really important bit! FK centred on Dory & Nieces but the next one is Dory & Louis-Cesare - heavier on the romance!!

Review Rebel Heart (Dust Lands, #2) by Moira Young

This book was not highly anticipated by me but I did get excited to see it up on Edelweis. The reason is that I listened to the first one, I think given the way dialogue is written in this book (no quotations and a changing of how English is spoken) for me I decided that audio would have been better. I should have waited. I found myself skimming due to how the dialogue is written. There is some nice angst over Saba and Jack. While Lugh and Saba are fighting, it is nice to have him there. There are some sad scenes and disturbing scenes. This book started strong for me but ended weak. At its core is the question of Saba and Jack ending up together and as series of misunderstandings between them and other characters. I hate misunderstandings as a method of creating tension. I hated it when I was a kid watching re-runs of Three's Company and I hate it now.

I do think that most fans of Blood Red Road (Dust Lands, #1) by Moira Young will enjoy this book and there are some crazy interesting scenes in this book. It just didn't top Blood Red Road for me.

MIchelle that is what I am listening to right now - -I like the narrator so far. I am about 40% in. It is nothing mind blowing (which is hard these days in UF), but it is keeping my interest and I like the characters.

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Ames, it is the oddest one ever. I don't think it is a traditional (view spoiler) At its heart, Rebel Heart becomes more of a romance than an adventure dystopia. Which was kind of a dissapointment. I don't think it is for you Ames. I don't regret skimming at all.

I'm new to the whole audio book thing, I hadn't tried a female narrator before so I thought I'd give it a try. I'm looking forward to your review :)

Steph (angel4492) | 32706 comments I listened to Blood Red Road as well, Regina. I'm bummed to hear #2 veered more toward the romance. I refrained from reading the spoilers, but have moved the book down on my TBR list.

Steph (angel4492) | 32706 comments Before I Wake (Soul Screamers, #6) by Rachel Vincent
Shelf: Demons
Series: Soul Screamers #6
Read: 25 Oct 2012
Rating: 4★
Review:
My review is full of spoilers for those who haven't read the previous 5 books, so I won't copy/paste here. But, you can read it here , if you'd like.

I will say this ... I ❤ Tod! He has a bigger part in BiW and I couldn't have been happier about it. Adjustment seems to be a major thread throughout the book - everyone is adjusting to something. Feelings are hurt, love is in the air, and a new dude joins the gang. The gang gathers together to battle against Avari, a hellion of greed, and another familiar foe.

The book ends on a minor cliffhanger. While there are times reading these books that I have to remind myself they are all teens, I have enjoyed each installment. It'll be sad to see it end with With All My Soul, due in Mar 2013. I'll be interested to see how Rachel wraps it up.

Heather ~ Marceline | 1017 comments I finished Body of Sin (Otherkin, #4) by Eve Silver on 10/25 and give it 3.5 *'s. This was a tough one for me. I loved the scenes with Lokan's and Bryn's brothers handling things Topworld, but felt a lot of the scenes Underworld with Lokan and Bryn trying to make their way through the 12 gates were extremely drawn out. Some of this could be the length of time I waited to read the final book after reading the first three. Or it could be how little I felt like we really knew Lokan before this book. The three other books were all about his murder, so we knew of him, but he hadn't starred in any of the books before this. The ending also seemed a bit abrupt to me, but I ws still pleased with the book overall. I enjoyed this series and would definitely recommend it to others to read, but this just wouldn't be in my all time favorite series.

Review
Skinwalker (Jane Yellowrock, #1) by Faith Hunter

I have been thinking about this reading series for years. Thank goodness I finally started it, I really enjoyed this book! It is not the best urban fantasy I ever read or the most original (very hard to do), but it was good. I liked the characters, I liked the mystery and the world. I listened to the narration and it was done well. I bought #2 and #3 and I am looking forward to reading more about Jane and Beast.

Amanda A | 812 comments Death and the Girl Next Door (Darklight, #1) by Darynda Jones
Shelf: Demons
Finished 10/22
4★

I love the Charley Davidson series so I was very happy to see Darynda Jones venturing into YA as well. Death and the Girl Next Door is an entertaining take on angels. The plot was full of action, mystery and humor. The characters are likable and well-developed. The banter between Lorelei and her best friends, Glitch and Brooklyn, had me cracking up many times. There is a romance, but it felt a little rushed. Hopefully, it will be more fully developed in the next book. And despite how the cover looks, there is no love triangle...yay! There is one twist that I was not expecting and I can't wait to find out how it plays out in the next book.

I listened to this book and the narrator was Lorelei King, who is one of my favorite narrators. She also narrates the Charley Davidson books and the Stephanie Plum books by Janet Evanovich. I love to listen to any book she narrates because she portrays the characters wonderfully.
