Review:
I never get enough of Kitty. This books was a bonus as it was almost two books in one. The first storyline evolves after Kitty speculates about strangeness surrounding Speedy Marts around the country. Her show creates a libel suit from the CEO. The second story unfolds when Kitty is asked to evaluate some newly returned soldiers who just happen to be werewolves. The young men were changed to be an elite squad in Afghanistan. This storyline broke my heart as I saw it as a commentary of how we treat our young men and women when they return from war. These young men are basically thrust back into society after seeing and doing horrific things all in the name of peacekeeping. Maybe Carrie wasn't going there when she wrote this, but it certainly came across that way to me. I am pleased with the way Kitty stepped up as alpha and led her pack through this.
And then there is Cormac. Sigh...I had always held out hope for a Cormac/Kitty pairing. I love Ben and don't want anything to happen to him, but Cormac was my first choice for Kitty. Cormac has become a stronger and more interesting character since his imprisonment. I'm sure more of his new found abilities will be exposed in the next book.
Excellent!

Patiently (not really) waiting for our next shelf!!

Bloodfever starts where Darkfever left off, with Mac stuck in the middle of a Fae war with V’lane on one shoulder and Barrons on the other, both “men” trying to use her abilities for their own purpose. Mac now knows who her sister’s murderer is and is still on the path to vengeance. Mac still defaults to her rainbow Mac annoying tendencies, but those episodes of hers lessen and lessen as the book continues. She’s not letting the manipulators in her life, there seem to be so many, control her. Much. There are still secrets within secrets and plots within plots. But I think it’s better the second time around because now I know the answers to all of Mac’s questions, well, mostly. I just adore this series. It was my first UF series and I could read them over and over again.

I'll decide what I will read once I'm done with my current book!

Patiently (not really) waiting for our next shelf!!"
Breann you REALLY need to read the Kitty series. How many times has someone told you that? Seriously, it is great. The last bookKitty's House of Horrorswas so good that I read it in one night. Who needs sleep?

What an amazing book this was! The story took me on a roller coaster of emotions. I was literally on the edge of my seat wanting to know what happened next as I kept turning the pages. I'm glad that in the end, Kelsey ended up the brother who I wanted her to end up with from the beginning. I can't wait for Tiger's Dream, the fifth and final book in the series to be released!

Hmmm.... I would say Mercy or Gin!

Review: What more can I say except another great installment in Suzanne Brockmann’s Troubleshooters Series. I love her writing style, and each of her stories is entertaining and original. Each book contains some old familiar characters along with some new ones. I think this formula works, because it makes the stories comfortable, but at the same time unique and interesting. This one was a little different from the first six in the series, but just as good. Instead of involving the U.S. Navy SEAL team as the previous books do, this one involves Tom Paoletti’s new private company called Troubleshooters, Inc. A few of the old characters were still there, along with quite a few new ones. It included the same familiar action/ adventure (maybe even more so than with previous books) along with a little romance thrown in on the side. The only thing I felt was missing was the WWII flashback story that usually runs parallel to the main storyline in all Brockmann’s previous Troubleshooter books. Those are usually some of my favorite parts in her books, and was not included here. I hope she chooses to include these flashbacks in all future series books, of which I will definitely be reading the next soon!

Dark-Hunters are humans turned “soldiers” for the god Artemis. Their job is to protect humans form Daimon’s who steal human souls by drinking their blood. They are led by the ever-elusive Acheron. Alexion, Acheron’s enforcer, was sent to Earth to straighten out some DH conspiracy theories. This group of DH’s believes that Acheron is a Daimon himself and is plotting to kill all of the Dark-Hunters. Why do they think this? I’m not quite sure. I mean, Acheron has been training these guys for thousands and thousands of years. That’s one long thought out plan if he was going to turn on them. But anyway, I digress... While Alexion is investigating these DH’s he foresees that a Dark-Huntress is in danger of dying and he decides to intervene and save her.
Let’s start with what I DID like... Things are starting to make a little more sense now. I was actually (somewhat) in the know. There were some questions answered about Acheron, more about what he is and why he’s still serving Artemis. You can always count on Ms. Kenyon to deliver funny, snarky humor and some steamy sex scenes.
This is where my likes ended. I am tiring of the same plot lines with the H/h. Tons of insta-love in this series, in almost every book. I liked Danger and Alexion but I didn’t feel much chemistry between them. Their relationship wasn’t believable. When they did say I love you, it was a little weird because I didn’t see it coming. I wasn’t feelin’ it and all of a sudden there were some I love you’s flying around. And then there’s Acheron. I don’t understand the point of having world building at all when there is a character that can kill or resurrect anybody he wants. Whenever someone dies I’m all... yeah, whatever, they’ll come back somehow... and guess what, they do.
I’m going to continue the series to see if it gets back to what it was in the first couple of books. I think I would have enjoyed this more if I didn’t feel like I had read it already.

We need to have a category of series we are irritated with , but continue to read just to see what happens! I vote for the Anita Blake series. It has gotten on my nerves for years, but I keep reading them. I am several books behind just because I got so fed up with her.

Isn't that funny? Even though we're not totally into the series we still continue with the hope that is just might get better.

I loved this book! The storyline revolves around Mercy and Adam. As much as I enjoy the pack, Samuel and everyone in Mercy's life, it was so nice to focus on Mercy and Adam. The evolution of Mercy's being was excellent. The Native American history was fascinating and intriguing. The basic battle of good versus evil was intense. This is a book that will go on my shelf and will be savored again at my leisure.

I'm changing my book for vampires to Bound by Blood. It fits with other challenges. MM romances have some of the most atrocious covers... drives me crazy. I've learned not to judge a book by its cover and learned it well.

I don't know the process of choosing a book cover, but...You have to wonder about those books with unappealing covers, and who was the person who thought "you know, that is a great cover and will attract lots of readers...let's choose that one." LOL!

lmao We all know not to judge a book by its cover but it's really hard not to. Especially when they are just horrible. But the MM genre takes the cake in bad cover art.

Review:
Peter, a bartender at a local club, sees a man on the dance floor and is immediately drawn to him. They share a dance but the man disappears before Peter is able to speak with him. Peter continues to see him at the club and comes to learn that this mystery guy is a vampire. Vampires are known in society but Peter has an unhealthy fear of them. He once walked into The Den, the local vampire club, and stumbled upon a horrific scene that he hasn’t been able to get passed. After much persuading, the vampire, Lucien, gets Peter to agree to see him. Peter realizes that not only is Lucien a vampire, but the Master vampire of the city and the owner of The Den.
Being with a master vampire comes with its own responsibilities. It automatically puts Peter into a position of power that he’s not sure he’s ready for. Peter is forced to see things that he doesn’t understand. Lucien is very patient in letting Peter come to terms with the violent vampire world but eventually has had enough of his fear and lack of trust. This forces Peter to choose. And choose he does. Once he decided that he was going to be Lucien’s partner he took his position by the reins. He became a strong, caring and decisive leader for their coven. It was as though he was meant to be a partner to Lucien in leading their coven.
While I loved both the MC’s passion and chemistry with each other there was a lot of fighting and bickering. I am a fan of some good banter, but this didn’t feel like banter, just bickering. All the back and forth between them was tiring. I did appreciate that there weren’t any secrets between them. They were very honest with each other, which of course led to the constant battles.
Holy hotness there was a lot of sex in this book. It was like one constant orgy. Everyone just had sex with and fed from everyone! There was blood and cum all over the damn place it seemed. The sex was hot but I prefer for the couple to only be with each other, as opposed to a rotating door of lovers.
Loved the world building, loved the characters and although I don’t see a change in the sexual dynamic of their household, I think I can handle some hot ménage man lovin’ if I have to. So twist my arm and, yes, I will be reading more of this series.

I'm still trying to put into words what to write in this review a hour later after finishing this book. I really liked how this series ended. The story kept me interested throughout. For the characters, there were that I liked and some that I just loathed which is to be expected with every book you read.

Sam is a former HUD investigator who was attacked 6 years ago and is now a vampire. She is trying vey hard to keep her life going as a mom, a wife and a private eye. Her life begins to unravel when she is hired to find the person that attempted to murder a high profile attorney who is not all he seems. I sympathized with Sam in striving to keep things normal for her children, but wanted to smack her heartless husband. I hope that her choices in this book will bring her happiness in future installments. Im not sure that I would read another one. This was a rainy afternoon read that allowed me to have a perfectly mindless escape.

Oh you should!! I believe the next book is the end of the series and that makes me sad. I was afraid this one was going to end it all until I remembered one is coming out after the first of the year.

I love this series and I have met the author she is so sweet. I can relate with Glory and her friends. I am still in love with Blade. I can't wait to start reading the next book. I have to wait until I go back to Galveston to get the others. Gerry Bartlett has a little booth in a antique store and she sells her books there.

I am so sad that this is the last book in the O'Connor family saga, but A Love Surrendered was a wonderful conclusion. I loved seeing snippets into each of the different couples married lives, which is one of the many things I loved about this series. I am glad I still have the prequel to read, as I am not quite ready to say goodbye to this family.

This is a personal shelf, not a GR shelf. So, as long as the book is 200+ pgs, part of a series and book 2 or higher in that series it's acceptable.

I'll be reading Armed & Dangerous for the same reason Amy! And because I just can't get enough Ty & Zane.

Review: There’s no deep story or intricate plot here…This book is just pure high adrenaline fun. If you’re afraid of the dark, then this book may not be for you; but if not, then buckle up and hang on for a wild ride. This book starts off with a bang and keeps on going….Lots of monsters, lots of guns, and lots of fun! I will definitely be reading the next book in this series soon!

Thanks for the review, Lisa. I had not heard of this series and may need to make it my "new to me" choice. I look forward to reading it.
