Hmm, movie was good though? I didn't go see it...maybe I'll have to check it out :)

message 102: by Beatrice (new)

Beatrice (beatricemasalunga) The movie is better. :) with Alex Pettyfer in it? even better :)))) (for me..lol)

It was slow for me, there are boring parts.. and..I don't trust Sarah.

message 105: by [deleted user] (new)

I tried reading Daughter of Smoke and Bone, but it was too slow-paced for me. What did everyone else think about this book?

Oh..okay! It was slow for me at parts but once I worked through them it got better (for me at least!)

message 107: by Beatrice (new)

Beatrice (beatricemasalunga) I'm still giving it a chance..on the second book though.. I hope it's better.

I have that book. I love reading parodies, even sometimes they are a bit silly.

message 110: by Gisbelle (new)

Gisbelle | 25787 comments I read Deep Desires by Charlotte Stein in November and it was too much for me. I don't usually mind erotica, but this one is way over the top.

message 111: by Heather (new)

Heather | 107 comments Insanity (Asylum, #1) by Lauren Hammond

It reminded me too much of movies I've seen. Girl, Interrupted, etc....

message 112: by Jalyn (new)

Jalyn (jalynnie) Mockingjay (The Hunger Games, #3) by Suzanne Collins & Forever (The Wolves of Mercy Falls, #3) by Maggie Stiefvater I loved the first two books in both of these series, but the third one was a terrible let down for me.
Swoon (Swoon, #1) by Nina Malkin I was really pumped to read this book, but it was kind of disturbing.
Under the Never Sky (Under the Never Sky, #1) by Veronica Rossi I didn't like this any where near as much as everyone else seems to. Actually, the more time goes by, the more I dislike it. To me, there's better stuff out there.
As I Wake by Elizabeth Scott Confusing and weird.
Betrayal (Immortal #2) by Gillian Shields I really enjoyed the first one. This one went in the complete wrong direction to me. I'm not even bothering reading any more books in this series.
The Garden by Elsie V. Aidinoff NO. SERIOUSLY, JUST NO. I can't believe someone thought it was ok to write this. Hands down the most disturbing and awful book I have ever read. Seriously, just no.

message 113: by Gisbelle (new)

Gisbelle | 25787 comments @ Jalyn: I agree with you on Mockingjay (The Hunger Games, #3) by Suzanne Collins & Under the Never Sky (Under the Never Sky, #1) by Veronica Rossi (the others on the list I have read yet)

Yep.. I'm able to finish that one..

This one too Princess of the Damned by Dahlia Lu , its pretty interesting but the transition is so confusing

message 116: by Gisbelle (new)

Gisbelle | 25787 comments I hate confusing books. Come to think of it, who doesn't right? :D

message 117: by Katie (new)

Katie (katiehodgkinson) Gisbelle wrote: "I hate confusing books. Come to think of it, who doesn't right? :D"

I would say you're right but when a confusing book makes sense at the end it sometimes makes it an interesting read to think back and be like 'OH YEEEAAAAH!' if you get what I mean!

message 118: by Gisbelle (new)

Gisbelle | 25787 comments I see what you mean, Katie :D I am just not a very patient :P

message 119: by Alice (new)

Alice (alice20) The Mark of Athena

I used to like Rick Riordan. Now I'm not so sure.

message 120: by Alice (new)

Alice (alice20) Crossed and Reached by Allie Condie

Oh my god, I am so peeved about how she wrote the last two books of the Matched trilogy!!:( Matched was one of the best dystopian romances I have ever read, but then Condie ruined it! Crossed was almost devoid of romance, and Reached was so slow and boring that I skimmed half the book just to see how it ended.

Megan (thebooknerdcopywriter) | 74 comments Gisbelle wrote: "recently...Daughter of Smoke & Bone (Daughter of Smoke & Bone, #1) by Laini Taylor I think it is too confusing for my taste!"

Oh, I am so sad to hear that. I listened to the audiobook (I would recommend that because the voices make all the difference). I absolutely loved this book. My disappointing one was Mr. Darcy, Vampyre. Hardly any vampire references and Elizabeth and Darcy are...not Elizabeth and Darcy. They're not the madly in love way they were in Pride and Prejudice. besides, the editing errors stuck out too much to be a great book. Unfortunate.

message 122: by Gisbelle (new)

Gisbelle | 25787 comments It was ok to read though :) Just I was a bit confusing because of the writing style. I found it was very creative and original by the way. Maybe it was because I am not a big fan of fantasy books :D

I loved it and like you said it was very creative and original. I loved the setting of Prague and how the author put a twist on the typical angel romance story. Plus, no love triangles!!!! (as of yet... still to read the second book)

message 125: by Holly (new)

Holly Letson (bookaholicholly) | 28 comments The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, Vol. 1 by Denise Mina - Confusing. Plot all over the place. Was a real struggle to even finish it.
Dragon Age Those Who Speak by David Gaider - Long weird names, no real set plot, thrown right into the story with no explanation of what is going on. I couldn't finish it.

message 126: by [deleted user] (new)

Aw, it sucks to hear that about Mockingjay (The Hunger Games, #3) by Suzanne Collins

I'm still in the middle of the second one and already itching to buy the third one. I have heard some of the same things from people who were disappointed by the conclusion of the series.

message 127: by Trisha, lives on coffee (new)

Trisha | 30284 comments Blind Spot by Laura Ellen

such a pretty cover. I think this would be an okay book, but I was disappointed because...if you read the synopsis, it makes it sound like it's a murder mystery with a really interesting MC (she has a sight impairment that I've never heard of)

Only the last few chapters were really what the synopsis eluded to. Otherwise, it's just A LOT of high school drama and characters I've never liked.

I was going to read this one a few months ago. Then I read the reviews, and had a second thought. The cover is so beautiful. Too bad the book sucks.

message 131: by Yoly (new)

Yoly | 642 comments "Dexter in the Dark" is the third book of the series and is soooooooo bad. The others books are ok, but I think the TV' series is better and that's weird :S

I actually likes Mockinjay. I give 5 stars to " The hunger games" and "Mockinjay" and 4 stars to the "En llamas" ( I don't remember the translation).

message 132: by April (new)

April Renee (aprilina) | 86 comments I was disappointed by the Mortal Instrument series. I've only read the first two, City of Bones and City of Ashes, but I just wasn't impressed. I was irritated by all the characters with the exception of maybe two. Also, I'm sick of YA love triangles. The books were just so predictable and while I think most books are predictable there is a line where it becomes TOO predictable. I'll probably finish the series just to see if it gets any better but at this point I don't know.

message 133: by Yoly (new)

Yoly | 642 comments Beatrice wrote: "The movie is better. :) with Alex Pettyfer in it? even better :)))) (for me..lol)"

Yep Alex is the best part, but I never finish the movie (I was so tired that day) ..so I want to read the book and then see the movie again

Gisbelle | 25787 comments Sorry if some of you are fans of Love Unscripted (Love, #1) by Tina Reber , but I just finished and thought it was so annoying and cheesy. I am not going to read book 2 for sure.

message 138: by Inger (new)

Inger | 241 comments i just read it recently and although i really liked i couldn't give it more than 4 stars because of the little lack of serious plot :)

message 139: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 31156 comments Gis, I haven't read Love Unscripted yet, but I find it so funny that someone will give it a 1 and others will rave over it (or any book)! I wonder why there's such a discrepancy.

message 140: by Sage (last edited Jan 23, 2013 12:20PM) (new)

Sage (herbsnospices) I was really unhappy about this one because usually Susane Colasanti writes amazing, cute stories but this book was something I had to sell. I read it, it was okay, but it wasn't something that I's want to read again. Take Me There by Susane Colasanti

I cringed the whole time reading the book. It has received such high rating, so I guess only a few may agree with me :) I found the way they talked about Ryan's fans (Ryan is the main male character and is an actor) very annoying and mean.

Well, it was for me. But lots of people did love the book. I think it was just personal for me. I hope you like it!!

And I absolutely LOVED The Lovely Bones so that is probably a personal one too. It's a tough topic for people to really say they "enjoy" the boo k, if you know what I mean??

I hope you like them both! :D

I really liked the Shiver series, but I hated the ending. I don't actually remember the ending now, though, haha.

One book I really couldn't get into was the Blue Blood series by Melissa de la Cruz. I loved her The Ashleys series, but this one.... No.
