Gisbelle | 25787 comments lol... I hate starting a series and have to give up because of its being boring!

message 52: by Sapir (new)

Sapir | 138 comments I actually liked Shiver.
I know that a lot of people dislike this book, and it annoyed me at times, but generally I enjoyed it very much.

The problem for me was I don't have the right kind of sense of humor for Croak. For that you have to laugh at the morbid and see the funny in making fun of how people died. Also I don't remember Death being a character. I did start to skim halfway through though.

message 54: by Gisbelle (new)

Gisbelle | 25787 comments So Croak, as you guys were talking about, is similar to Inbetween (Kissed by Death, #1) by Tara A. Fuller (actually a pretty decent book)

message 55: by Gisbelle (new)

Gisbelle | 25787 comments Oh, Sarajayne, it is a beautiful book (more than just a book with pretty cover) :D I loved it!

Jojobean | 553 comments Slice of Cherry by Dia Reeves

with the summary of the book, I was expecting some horror serial killer fun. I was not prepared for the stupidness of this book

I also agree with Mara, that Envy by Greg Olsen was disappointing. Then ending defeated the whole purpose of the book being called a murder mystery.

The characters i didn't expect to die....(view spoiler) but i still give it 4 stars because of the epilogue. Lol

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments I was very disappointed in MockingJay as well! I expected more from that book!

message 62: by Mehsi (last edited Oct 30, 2012 09:40AM) (new)

Mehsi I have had that a few times. One of the recent ones would be The Maze Runner (Maze Runner, #1) by James Dashner . I heard so much good things about it. Finally found it at my library, and went to read it. The start was good, it made me want to know more, but somewhere in the middle the book just got a boring and I stopped reading it.

message 63: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments Really? I liked that book! I can't wait to read Scorch Trials!

message 64: by Gisbelle (last edited Oct 30, 2012 05:05PM) (new)

Gisbelle | 25787 comments Maze Runner is a so-so series. Not as good as I expected either ... I still need to read The Kill Order (Maze Runner, #0.5) by James Dashner , but I finish the rest of the series already

message 65: by Ally (new)

Ally (arhart) For me, it was definitely Perks of Being a Wallflower. Didn't live up to the hype, in my opinion (though I read it and formed my opinion about it before a great deal of the hype, to be honest).

As for The Maze Runner, I kept starting it and then putting it down so many times that I must have read the opening chapters ten times before getting through the whole book. I ended up actually really enjoying the series, but the start was so painfully slow.

message 67: by Gisbelle (new)

Gisbelle | 25787 comments Not sure about how it would affect you, Kay! But I didn't like the book at all.

PS. can you stop capitalize every word? It's hard to read :) Thanks.

message 68: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments Yes, Kay, are you deliberately capitalizing every word? Like Gisbelle said, it's very hard to read. We're not trying to be mean, just letting you know how we fell! :D

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments It's okay Kay! Don't feel bad! It's just a habit! Thanks for fixing it! :D

message 71: by Ally (new)

Ally (arhart) @gisbelle - I need to read The Kill Order too! Though the fact that I haven't gone out of my way to read it yet probably says more about my thoughts on the series than anything else...

Entertaining for a while, but overall not worth jumping through hoops for.

I want to read it soon, but let's wait and see. I'm afraid it is not that great either :)

message 74: by Libbie (new)

Libbie My top three:

Ascend (Trylle, #3) by Amanda Hocking , Faefever (Fever, #3) by Karen Marie Moning (and the two after it) and Lover Unleashed (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #9) by J.R. Ward

So you really don't like these right? :) Ascend looks interesting. I like the cover :D

I liked the book. Well, most of it. I didn't like much after Liam and Amber became a couple. Amber because too slutty!

Libbie Gisbelle wrote: "So you really don't like these right? :) Ascend looks interesting. I like the cover :D "

Yep, I really don't.

The first two books of the Trylle trilogy (Switched and Torn) were pretty good. The third one I nearly threw across the room and literally stopped reading at 51%.

I hate giving up on books half way :( I have quit reading several books this year because they were too boring or confusing :)

Libbie Gisbelle wrote: "I hate giving up on books half way :( I have quit reading several books this year because they were too boring or confusing :) "

It takes a lot for me to put a book on the DNF shelf, mostly because I can usually push through to find out how it ends, at least.

The ones that do end up there usually do so because I realize I don't care about any of the characters/bored, they're so poorly written I can't gloss over the errors for another second, utterly piss me off.

message 81: by Gisbelle (new)

Gisbelle | 25787 comments Yes, Libbie. I feel the same way :)

4 Stars because of the epilogue? I thought that ruined the book in my opinion. Not that it was great to start with.

Yes, in my opinion though.. I like Peeta. I just don't like some characters died, the one that i didn't expect.

message 87: by Beatrice (new)

Beatrice (beatricemasalunga) I Am Number Four (Lorien Legacies, #1) by Pittacus Lore ,I guess alien stuffs are not for me.

Jojobean | 553 comments Shiver (The Wolves of Mercy Falls, #1) by Maggie Stiefvater

This was another book I was psyched to read but was very disappointing. I was sooo bored reading this book. It was like nothing happened. Even the action wasn't that exciting. I was very glad when it ended and I felt it was too long. Plus the blue font color gave me a headache. This book makes me not want to read the other books in the trilogy

Fair enough :) yeah, too many people died I thought, not needed.

message 90: by Katie (new)

Katie | 68 comments I was disappointed in the books Nightshade Delirium and Mockingjay. They all seemed to have good enough plots but the main thing that disappointed me was that they all had really whiny girls as narrators. It was hard to keep reading the books. I also was not rooting for the love interest in these 3 book either so that had something to do with it.

message 91: by Gisbelle (new)

That's what I've heard as well from those who read
The Help. It takes a really long time to get through.

(Much easier to just watch the 2 hour movie! Hah that might be the first time I've ever said that...)

message 96: by Brandi (new)

Brandi Siefken I was disappointed in Mockingjay... It was just really confusing and not at all as good as the first two books

Trisha | 30284 comments Yeah, I didn't like I Am Number Four (Lorien Legacies, #1) by Pittacus Lore either!

and I gave it to my daughter to read and she refused to finish it. She said there was just waaaay too much swearing in it (something I hadn't noticed)....

message 100: by Beatrice (new)

Beatrice (beatricemasalunga) I hadn't noticed it too. I guess the book was okay. Nothing special about it though. But i like the film.
