The Mark of a Giant 7 People Who Changed the World by Ted Stewart

I just finished this book, which goes beyond the ordinary biography/history of great people and makes the case that their achievements changed the world for the better. I really enjoyed it!

Biographies include Abraham; Pericles; the Apostle Paul; Isaac Newton; Marie Curie; Martin Luther King, Jr.; and Mother Theresa.

Is anyone else reading interesting books?

Paul Rimmasch | 2 comments My I recommend my new book... It is an LDS adventure which takes the reader to some fun and obscure Church history sites around SLC.

Jennie | 20 comments I just finished reading The Storm Descends by Gerald N. Lund. I liked it a lot and will review it for Meridian Magazine. It takes place mostly in Germany during that period between the first and second World Wars.

Roger Stark Roger Stark While I recognize that Goodreads is typically a tool to find books we read for pleasure, occasionally life dictates we read to educate ourselves. "The Waterfall Concept" does a great job of making sense of addiction for those of the LDS faith. As one ARP missionary stated: "I have a book shelf of recovery books at home, this one is my favorite."

Miguel (miguelaragon) I am reading "Accomplishing the Impossible" by Russell M Nelson. I am impressed how easy it is to read, yet the message is very powerful.

Hi, everyone.

My friend, author A.L. Sowards has begun a group called "The Green Jell-O Book Club" that pertains to LDS Fiction (at this link: https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/...)

There are a number of lively discussions going on there, and it's a great place to interact with a number of authors of LDS Fiction who have joined the group.

(Also posted in the "New Moderator" thread.)

Thanks, Cindy! I've not read anything by Sanderson, but I've had enough people recommend his books that I will change that soon!

I recently was contacted through Ancestry.com about a relative of mine that I didn't know much about. His name is Col. Ephraim Bowen, and he led a raid in Pawtuxent, Rhode Island, that was before the Tea Party in Boston but was similar in its nature.

The person who contacted me is Janet Hudon Hartman, and the book is "Colonel Ephraim Bowen: A Pawtuxent Hero." I ordered a copy, and it's a pretty good book! I love hearing about my ancestors, but it's a special sense of pride to know he was a hero of the American Revolution.
