I liked the fast pace and quick dialogue of this novel's excerpt. The writer is consistent in keeping with the necessity of French being spoken, yet we are thankfully not bogged down by the actual language being written then explained, which can be frustrating. We are brought in at the perfect moment - right in the middle of the kidnapping, and the details are explained well. This appears to be the start of a fine read.
