Sorry about the weird audio, we had some really bad line noise that had to be edited out.

My ears are bleeding a little now. I had my speakers cranked up to hear the podcast and when it ended the theme music was crazy loud by comparison. Really glad I wasn't using headphones. Lol.

Really great podcast apart from the audio.

Thank you.

Kris (kvolk) Fun interview though I will now hear Drizzt voice in my head with a Boston accent going forward. Really appreciate how open Bob Salvatore was in answering questions. He is a passionate guy and that really came out in the interview...Love the story about wearing his tie on his head! Sounds like Dragon Con is just becoming more fun every year...

Derek | 28 comments I'm glad I'm not the only one that is having a hard time hearing Salvatore :P Otherwise an enjoyable interview. Yea for New Englanders!

message 12: by Tamahome (new)

Tamahome | 7231 comments That's an example of someone whose books you want to like. I have the first Demon Wars on Graphicaudio somewhere. Mostly I liked the demon waking up in the first chapter, but didn't finish.

I understand completely. I really want to like his books based solely on how nice and real a guy he is. (He had me at: "You want to take out the Wookie? You hire the Italian.")

I agree, Salvatore won me over with his stories, attitude and humor - I feel compelled to try his books now, which I had no real interest in before. Definitely my favorite of the DragonCon author interviews.

P. Aaron Potter (paaronpotter) | 585 comments Finally got a chance to sit down with this. Yay! I was tickled to hear him recommend the same primary revision practice I always advocate to my writing students: read it out loud. And a Michael Shaara shoutout as well!

message 16: by Patrick (new)

Patrick (fluffrick) | 6 comments I concur with some of the views here - I've not really thought about reading R.A. Salvatore's books before but this podcast changed my mind.

What an affable chap - and what a fine "Sword & Laser" ep, too.

message 17: by Meredith (new)

Meredith Hi. I can't believe I have only recently started listening to the Sword & Laser. For years, I thought it was about video games. D'oh. Anyway, where can I find the names of the books that are due to come out? Y'all mentioned one coming out with Time in the title and I want to check it out. Thanks!

Meredith Thanks Rob! Except the book I want to see has dropped off the calendar. Is there a way to see what WAS on the calendar when that podcast was recorded? I guess I'll just listen to the podcast again to hear it.

None that I know of. Sorry. Didn't realize it was gone already.

message 21: by Meredith (new)

Meredith Yeah. I remembered that the calendar section of the podcast is very early, so I just replayed it. I got the name.

Mark Kaye | 123 comments Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed this podcast. The interview was awesome. R.A. Salvatore said some moving stuff, I think it had to be your best interview to date. Awesome!!!!!!!!!! 10/10

message 24: by Darren (new)

Darren Humphries (darrenhf) | 96 comments Though I'm never going to find time to read any of his books I thought that he was a terrific interviewee. Just what you want.

message 25: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah, amazing interview! Thanks Sword and Laser! I would love to have been there. I'm curious how big the crowd was and what the mood was like in the room when he started talking about hate on the interwebs and his brother. I for one had to sit down.

message 26: by Ralffie (new)

Ralffie | 26 comments There were 3 sections of seating. I would estimate each had 10 rows of 10 seats, maybe more?

Anyway--300 people, ballpark.

It was a great interview, and moving, and funny. The audience was right there with him.

message 27: by Alan (new)

Alan | 534 comments I just heard this podcast, so obviously came to it ridiculously late but I just needed to say how great it was, regardless of sound issues.

Salvatore was open and honest and funny and interesting - absolutely everything you could want from an author interview. And, Tom and Veronica asked him good questions, kept the conversation flowing but got out of the way whenever he was on a roll.

I've never read his books before (there are just so many authors out there) but now am going to have search a few out just because of this interview. ...I just sat stunned with my mouth open when it got to the part where he talked about wallowing in terrible reviews of his work to avoid processing his brother's death.
