Dawn (delta108) | 63 comments Yea! Yes, I am still here, or in the mountains for "The Gathering". Can you imagine having all those problems during your family reunion?

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 3151 comments That Gathering was hard for me to read. It just seems to go on and on!

Dawn (delta108) | 63 comments Definitely a lot of characters to remember and try to keep straight.

Terri Vaught (terriann14) | 59 comments The Gathering has some very funny parts though. I will be joining in the reread. I am also still listening to DOA , but will start reading The Fiery Cross. Love these books!!

SandyC (sandyc88) | 187 comments I am having a hard time getting motivated to re-read this one since now we have to wait another year for the next book. Still looking forward to reading everyone's comments and insights.

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 3151 comments Well we won't be totally done with rereads until February 2013, which is the year she's trying to put it out, right?

SandyC (sandyc88) | 187 comments Right...I keep forgetting the goal is 2 months per book...but, she's saying Fall of 2013! :-(
I may just start my re-read over in January. Then it will be a re-re-read. LOL

Dawn (delta108) | 63 comments I have not read this book in years, so I am enjoying it again. I'm just happy my family reunions don't have as much drama, but as we all know everyone in the end is connected. Though the gathering may be a tad long for some, they all eventually go home and move on with the story.

Now you could read or listen to an abridged version of this (gasp!), then you can move through the gathering quickly.

Diane | 1360 comments I actually didn't mind the gathering because it described everyday life in ways I'd have never thought of. ( like using wet leaves to wipe a baby's butt when changing the diaper) I love DG so I enjoy these books immensely.

I agree .. The gathering had some really fun parts. I loved when Brianna made up the prayer and when Roger told Joscata off.

But there are still 2 more books after FC.

Terri Vaught (terriann14) | 59 comments I loved the part where the family has the theif taker hidden and they talk about bbqing him.

Patty | 190 comments I love FC now that I have listen to it maybe 3 or 4 times. I have been very bad I started the re-read along with everyone, but just today I finished Echo. I could not help myself and I am so sad I must wait a year for the next book, I may need to go and reread all the MOBY excerpts now! I have about 7 books from the library I just need to read those and walk away from the Jamie and Claire books for a little bit!!

Terri Vaught (terriann14) | 59 comments Even when I am reading other books I still have one of these in progress also or I will just randomly pick one up and read in it for a while. I miss them!!!

Lori (lorimcd) I had forgotten that the Gathering takes up a significant portion of the book... or so it seems. I'm enjoying it, I just keep thinking about all that still has to happen at the Gathering before they can go home. The way home is one of my favorite parts - especially the "chittie", Adso of Milk.

I actually had to go back and re-read the last part of "Drums" again, because I had to read the scene where Jamie gives Claire her gold wedding ring from Frank back again. As I started into "Fiery Cross", I wanted to segue right from one into the other.

So, I'm taking my time with this re-read!

Jean Gobel (JeanG) Just half way thru DOA, but moving right along...can't put the book down or go to bed....so addicted! But will be with FC and enjoy it along with you. This is my fourth time thru the series, and I did like the gathering the previous reads, especially Roger!

Tina | 162 comments How about Jamie's "confession" to the Priest (can't remember his name) at the gathering. Just shows you that Jamie is always thinking of Claire!!!

I also loved when Roger told Jocasta off...way to go Roger!!!

Donna - Rosies.ReadingNook (dantaramian) Tina .. Loved when Roger told Jocasta off

Laura P | 114 comments I'm about 60% through Drums of Autumn. I just haven't had much reading time the past few months and I've fallen behind.... but I'm still hanging in there.

message 21: by Jean (new) - rated it 5 stars

Jean Gobel (JeanG) I know we have started FC, but I just finished DOA last night, 4th reading, and I am more upset than on previous reads. I'm disappointed with the extent of Jamie's anger. Yes, I know because she is his daughter, still his refusal to listen at all, seems out of character as we know him, and to stay that way for six months! Did anyone else feel as upset as I do?

message 22: by Lori (new) - rated it 4 stars

Lori (lorimcd) Jean, I had a few issues with Jamie's behavior in DOC, so you're not alone. But on my last re-read (with this group), I was able to get past some of those emotions I had and see that Jamie is, indeed, human.

Jamie & Bree seem to be a lot alike in temperament as well as looks; so IMO, both Bree & Jamie tend to over-react with one another. And on this last re-read of DOC, that was my takeaway.

Hurry into FC! I was on a cruise last week, so I didn't get online nor did I have a lot of time to read. But when I did, I was re-reading FC... it helped to have a break from the books. I felt a fresh enthusiasm and read through "fresh eyes" again. I'm only 38% through, but I'm enjoying this book more than before. For some reason in past reads/re-reads, FC felt like a lot of history and not much story. But on this re-read, I've no idea why I felt that way!

Lynda | 67 comments It seems that on the first read I am flying through the books to get to the Jamie-Claire relationship parts first. I do take in the rest, but on more leisurely re-reads I am stunned every time with the depth of characterizations, the "truths" of life so perceptively written, the beautiful descriptions, and the history.
There is so much in these books, that they always deliver on re-reads!
