Yay video game junkies! *displays badge proudly* I like this task :DAnyway, if anyone is looking for an amazing book that'd work for B (surviving a plane crash), Beauty Queens is absolutely wonderful.
Bea wrote: "It looks to me like The Liberated Bride would work for option 4. Correct?"Yes, it works!
Dee wrote: "soo many choices!! lol!!"Lol Dee! I had more options per game when I started making the task. These video game universes are too vast lol.

Thanks Ms Anderson! I've added Beauty Queens in the approved post above. :)
Great task!I just wanted to check that a NHL hockey player as a main character would work for option 3.

If there is a hockey game as part of the plot, then yes - that would work.
Kathy G. wrote: "Would this work for option 2- DisasterThe Eleventh Plague
Thanks"
Yes Kathy, based on the description that would work!

There is. Thanks:)
I just finished Singing the Dogstar Blues for another task, but it would work for option 1, as it heavily features an alien. It would also work for YA options or 15.3 Option 1.
I am using it for 10.5 Time Warp.

Donna Jo, yes it would! It sounds very interesting... :) I'll add it up in the first post as well...
Christine US wrote: "For #3 does it have to be a car, or would a truck work?"Christine, it needs to be a car. Sorry!
Robin wrote: "Would MaryJanice Davidson's Alaskan Royal family books be ok for option 6?"Yes - that would work!
Thanks Chaitra!!! ☺ By the way, I meant to tell ya, NICE TASK!!!!! Both of my boys play some of these games so I am a little teeny tiny bit acquainted with them lol
I like this task! :) I can read my husband's Halo novels! Just kidding. I may have played Halo, but the novels? Not happening. Lots of great options though!
Cindy wrote: "Would
work for option 1 Space?"Packing for Mars is really funny - I don't know if you do audiobooks but the narrator just made it all the better
Aleksandra wrote: "just to confirm , would The Second Empress: A Novel of Napoleon's Court work for option 6?"Yes, that would work!
CassieV wrote: "Would Year of Wonders: A Novel of the Plague work for number 2 (Bioshock)?"Yes! Black death would count as a disaster. :)
Does it matter how big the lighthouse is on the cover for Option 2? To the Lighthouse -- look between the two OO's in Woolf --

Mid fall, on 16th October, my dear husband - the video game junkie - turns 30! It's been a tradition for me ever since we've been together, to buy him video games for his birthday and then complain year-round when he plays them to the exclusion of all else. :D So, in honor of the husband's big three-oh, my task is to read through some of his favorite video games.
For this task, pick two books from two different options. You may read the novelizations of any of the mentioned games, provided you choose them from different options.
Required: Please state the options you choose. If the option involves a cover, please post the cover. If the choices are not obvious from the GoodReads description, please state the connection.
1. Halo 3 & Mass Effect 3: Read a non-fiction book about space -or- a fiction book which features aliens -or- read any book in a series (identified as such on Goodreads) with at least three published books at the start of the fall challenge (the published books must exclude short stories/novellas published in anthologies).
2. Bioshock: Read a book with a protagonist who survives a natural or man-made disaster (a vehicle crash, earthquake, tsunami, forest fire, plane crash, hurricane, nuclear explosion, flood, etc.) -or- a book with the genre "Horror" on the main page -or- a book with a plane or a lighthouse on the cover.
3. Forza 4: Read a book with a car on the cover -or- a book with a main character that has something to do with cars (driver/mechanic/maker/salesman) -or- a book where a competition is a main plot point (it need not be a sporting contest. Quizzes/beauty contests will work).
4. Prince of Persia: Read a book set in one of the Middle Eastern countries (here's a list) -or- a book that features a demon from Islamic legends (djinn, afrit, marid etc.) -or- a book with the genre "Adventure" on the main page.
5. Portal: Read a book with the genre "Mystery" or "Humor" on the main page -or- a book with a door or a dessert on the cover -or- a book with an escape or a rescue as a main plot point (Escape/rescue should be from a physical place of imprisonment. Escape from a wedding for example wouldn't be acceptable unless the bride/groom was kept imprisoned beforehand).
6. Dishonored: Read a book set or published in the 19th century (1800-1899) -or- a book with a royal character -or- a book with the genre "Steampunk" on the main page.
Hope you enjoy this task as much as I did creating it! Happy reading!
