The ice cream parlor was like something i had never seen before we would just order our ice cream and pay for it and sit down and the ice creams would float towards. All around us ice creams and milkshakes were floating towards the person who ordered it. I was so astonished i was staring at the food that was floating around us everyone else didn't care. Then all of a sudden I saw Severus frown, he looked upset and I turned my gaze towards what he was glaring at. It was a boy about our age he was about my height and he had jet black hair that was sticking at the back and he had glasses on. He walked in the ice cream parlor with two other boys and they started walking towards us. He said "Hello Snivellus aren't you going to introduce us to your friend" I looked confused and then he held out his hand and said" Hello my name is james and the two behind me are Sirius and Remus and you are" I looked and Severus he was rolling his eyes then I said "Hello my name is Lily Evans" Then Severus said "As always its a pleasure talking to you and your gang but Lily and I need to buy wands" I looked at him confused but i got up. Then i said "it was really nice meeting you guys bye" We walked out of the Ice cream pallor and we started walking around thenI asked him who James was and why was he so bitter towards him. Severus was silent he was trying to explain then out of nowhere Sirius, Remus, and James were running towards us. Then James said "you don't mind if we join too, Remus needs to buy his wand too we might as well go together."

Severus narrowed his eyes and his lip curled. But he obliged.
"And where are you from, Lily?" James asked me pleasantly as we walked to a shop entitled 'Ollivanders'. I didn't know what Severus was worried about with this bunch, they seemed decidedly kind. Just boisterous.
"Surrey." Then, i couldn't help asking, "were you surprised when you got you letter?" He looked at me, a little astonished.
"N-no, I've been expecting it for eleven years! Why, were you?"
"Well... yeah. No one in my immediate family is a witch..." Understanding seemed to wash over him.
"Right, you're a half-blood. Muggle-born." That seemed to make sense.
"So what are you?" I asked. He straightened with superiority. I giggled a bit at his obvious cockiness.
"I'm what they call a 'pure-blood', my whole family is magic." My brows knitted together.
"Does that make you a better wizard than me?" His eyes widened in shock.
"No, not in the least! Some of the greatest wizards of time were half-bloods!" That made me feel a bit better. I looked ahead at where Severus was walking, his stiff walk suggested discomfort. As opposed to James'... strut.
"How do you three know Sev?" I asked the gang.
"You mean Snivelly?" Before I could answer, Sirius and Remus launched into a long story about wizard parties and not quite hitting off on the right foot.
While they told the story, we entered the shop and began to try out various wands under the observant and knowing eye of Mr Ollivander.

"ok so you want know how i know him and why we don't like each other very much"
"Yes please and explain everything"
While he was explaining everything Severus was just watching us carefully. Remus and Sirius were just looking at wands, they seemed to already know the story.
" Okay so my Dad and Snivelly's dad don't really like each other. They had some certain feud that I don't recall what it was about. Our families seemed to hate each other ever since my great grandfather and Snivelly's great grandfather were neighbors. So our whole families just hate each other because if that beginning feud that we don't know about"
"Are you kidding thats so silly, you are fighting over something that you don't know what it is. While you guys should be making up and setting an example for your family to end this silly feud you are making it worse."
"Its not some silly feud if it were we wouldn't still be fighting"
"You don't even know what its about and you continue the feud"
Then we heard a glass break. Remus was still searching for his chosen wand.
I was so upset about Jame's ignorance for this feud and that while they should be making peace they continued fighting. That I walked out of Ollivander's shop and I heard footsteps right after me. I just wanted to run, all I wanted was for them to have peace with each other and stop being so mean and to end such a silly feud

"Lily!" A voice called from behind me. I whipped around and Severus was running up to me.
"What you doing? You haven't got your wand yet!" I went a little red. It was stupid to leave the shop when I'd just have to go straight back in again. I stalked back to the shop and the three boys were just exiting. I nodded curtly to them and hurried back in.
"See you at Hogwarts, Lily!" A voice yelled after me, which I ignored. "Until then, Snivelly," the same voice sneered to Severus as he walked in, shoulders slumped.
"Awful. Stupid. Ridiculous..." I muttered to myself as Mr Ollivander continued to hand wands to me.
I was totally enthralled by this shop and the long-box upon long-boxes of wands with every type of wood and 'Core'. Finally, a rather long one was set in my grasp; twelve inches, yew, dragon heartstring. It had some small knobs around the base, I suspected for a firmer grip. As soon as I held it, a warm, flooding feeling surged through every vessel in my body. I could feel its power itching to be used.
"Ah," Mr Ollivander murmured quietly. "A very excitable wand that one, capable of great achievements. Use it well, Miss Evans." I didn't bother asking how he knew my name, I kind of almost expected it. I paid for the wand and went outside to wait for Severus. He emerged several minutes later with a dissatisfied look on his face and a rather wonky, knobbly wand held firmly in his grasp.
"Oak, unicorn hair," he said with distaste. He screwed up his face and pocketed it. I couldn't stop examining my wand, it was just so... unusual. And pretty, in a sense. A pink smoke came whooshing out the end of it occasionally, though it seemed mostly harmless. It was only later, outside a second-hand robe store that I stopped walking and examined my now-singed coat pockets. A witch with green hair and a kind, pointed face noticed me scowling at the burnt fabric. She lowered her wand to it and moved it to the left ever so slightly. The brown patch disappeared immediately. I looked up to thank her but she was gone.
"Did you see where that lady went?" I asked Sev as he smirked at the ugly robes on the window mannequin.
"Who would wear these? Oh... and she probably Disapparated." Disapparated?
"What's that?" I asked.
"It's when a wizard learns to transport himself- and sometimes someone else- to anywhere else." He turned his attention back to me. I didn't like the way he sneered at the kids who were buying their robes from the second-hand store. Proud. Like James, I guessed. No wonder they continued their feud, they were just alike. James was just perhaps a little more forward.
Loaded with a large trunk and my new tawny owl, Caramel, Mum, Dad and a furious Petunia accompanied me to 'Platform nine-and-three-quarters'. Using the advice Sev gave me, I leaned onto the barrier between platforms nine and ten. I was surprised at the odd sinking feeling I got as I was swallowed and spat out by the would-be solid bricks. My parents, beaming, and Petunia followed and we all stared with amazement at a great scarlet train that was puffing smoke into the air. It must have had several hundred students filing in and out of it. There was noisy chatter from both excited students and pets alike.

It must have had several hundred students filing in and out of it. There was noisy chatter from both excited students and pets alike.
We were all staring in amazement until a voice that called my name woke us from our daze. Once I realized who's voice it was I wanted to just walk away. It was James and he and his friends were walking right behind him. My parents asked me who he was, I introduced them to James, Sirius, and Remus. My parents were so delighted that I had found friends so quickly. When I gazed to see Petunia she looked even more angry than she already did. Then the sound of the train startled us, I gave a big hug to my parents and I tried to hug Petunia but she was so stiff and angry and she begged me to stay with tears in her eyes. I really wished Petunia was also a witch so we can go to Hogwarts together. Then we heard the whistle again and I whispered to Petunia that I would talk to the Hogwarts Headmaster and beg him to let her come too. At that she smiled but she was still upset to let me go. I said my goodbyes and ran into the train to see Severus waiting for me in the inside of the train he had saved me a seat.
I was really sad that Petunia couldn't come but i was thinking what would happen if the Headmaster wouldn't let Petunia come. I was scared that she would hate me forever if I backed out on my promise. Inside the train I couldn't help but be excited and nervous at the same time. I hoped I would be in the same house as Severus so I would at least know one person. But the excitement took over me! I couldn't wait to meet knew people and learn new things about a world I didn't know existed till now. While I was daydreaming Severus was talking to me I didn't realize that until he snapped his fingers and said Earth to Lily and chuckled. He was telling me all about the Slytherin house and how all of his family was in that house and if he wasn't in it, it would be a disgrace but he was pretty positive he would be in the Slytherin house. I asked him about how they would know what house each person would be in and he explained we had to put on a hat. I looked confused and he said i guess you will just have to wait and see. look out the window we are here!

An ancient-looking, great towering castle with turrets and spires loomed in the distance across at great black lake. The train came to a gradual stop and students began to shove at each other in their eagerness to enter the massive castle. A booming voice was yelling "firs' years, over here!" as the cool night air whipped at my face and hair. The great black figure with the loud voice was holding up a bright lantern. He was really the hairiest man I'd ever seen. Not to mention the tallest. He was about two average people tall. But in the ghostly light of the shivering lantern, he was grinning and, though growly, had a very welcoming voice. We followed him to the edge of the ominous-looking lake and to a shore littered with small sailboats. The giant man hopped in one and ushered the rest of us over to the rest of them.
"Go on, don' be shy! Hop in!" Sev and I got one to ourselves. As soon as we were in, the boat, er... magically started toward the opposite shore. The water was choppy and dark but the boats glided smoothly, effortlessly, sails changing by themselves as the wind did. I wished I was the one controlling the boat, sailing being one of my favourite activities to do with Petunia. I sighed. Petunia. She's going to hate me forever.

Once we got off the boats we were walking towards the great hall, the more we went into the castle the more i knew Petunia was going to hate me forever. The Great Hall was so big the ceilings were beautiful they were as clear as the sky of the night there were candles floating that looked like the nights sky. I still couldn't believe that a whole world, lived under my fingertips. My whole life I thought magic didn't exist seeing this whole new world was amazing. I wished the Petunia also could have seen this magical world. While I was staring amazed at the ceiling a professor was calling out names. All of a sudden she called out Lily Potter...... Lily Potter. I walked towards that stool and everyone was staring. The professor put a hat on my head I was thinking why on earth would i come hear and have a hat put on my head? then a booming sound came in my mind 'hmmm your muggle born..' then i said yes. "hmm what house should i put you in?" I asked the hat how do you choose how to put me in the houses?" He explained he can read my mind and is going through my mind trying to see what house I would best fit in." I asked him what house do you think I should be in? "I am thinking..... Then he yelled out Gryfindoor!!! All the people of that house were clapping and cheering. i remember looking at Severus's face and seeing sadness. I was thinking just because we are in different houses doesn't mean we still can't be friends. The next person who was called was Severus the hat was on his head for about a second and it yelled SLYTHERIN!!! Severus walked glumly toward the slytherin table.

A boy with jet black hair and a familiar smirk slid over the bench to me.
"Nice to see you're in Gryffindor too," he said with a wink. "Better than Slytherin," he added with a disdainful glance at Severus sitting, slumped alone on the benches.
After we'd all been sorted and the Headmaster, Professor Dumbledore, had said a few odd words- "Nitwit, Oddment, Blubber, Tweak!"- a feast larger than any we'd ever had at home, not even for birthdays, appeared on the table. There was everything from roast chicken to fried chicken to marinated chicken... and some rather odd dishes I supposed were normal wizard dishes. I tried to have a go at everything but there was just so much! Dessert came and went with flurries of conversation and constant chatter. James tried to talk to me, but each time, I stuffed more food in my mouth and made the signal to mean "eating, can't talk". He gave up eventually and went back to muttering secretively with his friends. When we were all full and the dishes were mostly empty, they disappeared and the plates were left sparkling clean.
"Now that you're all full to burst, it's time for bed. Off you go!" There was a scraping of chairs and a congested flow of people nudging at each other to get through the doors.
"Follow me, Gryffindor first years," said a high clear voice. I looked around and found the source of the voice. It was a girl of about sixteen wearing a large, shiny badge entitled "Hogwarts Prefect". She ushered us along a hall, up staircase after staircase and to a rather large portrait of a rather large lady. "Remiscence Decorpes," the prefect said. To my astonishment, the lady nodded and her portrait swung open and revealed a hole just big enough to get through.
"Now," said the girl. "You must all remember those passwords as they change otherwise you may be locked out until you find someone who knows. This is the common room. Boy's dormitories-" she pointed to the left staircase "-and girl's dormitories," she pointed to the right. "Now, off to bed, all of you. First years, you've got a big day tomorrow."
We obeyed and wandered up to our dormitories.
I couldn't sleep.
It was ten-thirty but I couldn't sleep.
I pulled several books from my bag, Including the Defence Against the Dark Arts one- 'Learning your Defences' by Xerphyn Langslade- and went down into the common room. I sat in one of the huge scarlet and gold chairs by he fireplace, which was mostly embers by then. I let the Dark Arts book fall open on my lap, to any page and started reading.
"Now really," said a disapproving voice, to my shock. I looked around but there was no one there.
"Who's there?" I said in a small voice.
"Look up, you silly girl. On the wall." I did and it was a painting. It was a taut woman in a very uncomfortable looking corset. She adjusted her long frock and stared expectantly.
"Oh, uhm... I couldn't sleep..."
"Well, you should be in bed, at the least," she sniffed. I nodded and walked back up the stairs and did my studying of the book in the confines of my four-poster, drapes shut.

Sorry I haven't written anything thank you so much for continuing the story! Your an amazing writer! Okay now I will continue the story.
The next day we had double class of potions with Slytherin. I was the first to arrive in class, I saw the professor he was startled by how quickly I came to class. He was setting up cauldrons for each desk. He introduced himself and said "I know good student when i see one. I hope you will enjoy my class" I asked him if he needed any help setting up the potions. He said please set a book on each desk. A few minutes later the students came in one by one. Severus came and sat next to me in front of the class. I was so excited I was actually going to learn how to brew up potions in a cauldron like a real witch, I knew i was going to enjoy this class. The professor Slughorn wanted to see if we can make a perfect polyjuice potion of the person next to us just for fun. Snape and I made perfect polyjuice potions ever since then according Professor Slughorn Severus and I had both rare talent for potions. Right that moment we heard an explosion sound we both turned around James face was burned and his hair was sticking out from the sides and Sirius and Remus both bursting out laughing and James was just so shocked that he also burst out laughing but also seemed really embarrassed. Slughorn looked shocked but also chuckled he told us to all pack up for our next class. And not to worry it was just a test to see how well we are with potions. Later he asked Severus and I to come to his "Slug Club" tomorrow evening I told him I would be delighted to go! Snape also thanked him and we headed to our next class. We also both had Defense against the dark arts Severus was really excited for that class our professor was a kind old man named Dumbledore. He started off the class by introducing us to the three unforgivable curses. As he was teaching us about them I could tell Severus was really intrigued by the dark arts and wanted to learn everything about them..... And that truly frightened me but I thought nothing of it. I thought it is just a phase we I was hoping it was just a phase. I wasn't the biggest fan of that subject but the teacher was nice though. But eversince that class I knew my favorite subject was potions and Severus's was the dark arts. Ever since that day I knew there was a little darkness in him and I was hoping that I could help him to get rid of it and get into the side of good.

(Dumbledore was a transfiguration teacher! -sorry if that sounded rude :) Can we make up a professor? Professor Elsordy?)
As I slowly became accustomed to the odd classes that are essential to wizardkind, I began a bit of a routine. When I realised what I was doing, I giggled. That's exactly what Petunia would've done! I was once again overwhelmed by the massive distance between my sister and I. Come to think of it, I was unsure of where Hogwarts was exactly situated. They say it looks like a burned down building with 'Danger Do Not Cross' signs dotted around to Muggles, but where it is was always a mystery. And because Petunia was a Muggle, I couldn't share this with her anyway. She would see only ruins. Not the spectacular spires and towers and ancient architecture I could. It was unfair but Petunia had her own talents. She was a great seamstress- when mum let her to the machine. And a fantastic cook. But I was hopeless at anything housewife-y.
Every night before I went to bed, I would kneel down on my knees and pray for my family and thank the God the way our mother taught us. I did this until the girls who also slept in the same dormitory as me started asking me what I was doing, then giving me weird looks, which progressed into snickers and just plain talking behind my back. I thought that kind of catty behaviour didn't show itself until we were at least fourteen. But I was wrong. I resulted to saying my prayers in my head, lying on my back in my bed before we went to bed. The whispers continued though.
I confided in Severus and he knew exactly what I was talking about. It was a sunny Saturday and we were lounging by the lake, throwing stones to a giant squid. I named it Gaudral.
"I know what you mean, I get all sorts of codswallop from Potter and his cronies," he sneered.
"And how do you deal with it?" I asked in wonder.
"I don't at the moment. I'm... well, you could say that I'm creating a... weapon of sorts." His eyes darted from side to side as if waiting for someone to jump out of the thick bushes and try him for murder.
"What do you mean 'weapon'?" I asked, alarmed.
"Did you know that Professor Elsordy is giving me extra Dark Arts lessons?" He changed the subject hastily. Well, if he didn't want me to know, I wasn't going to push him- his secrets had a tendency to make him very fragile.
"Really?" I responded dully. And he went on about all the curses and jinxes he was learning. They sounded interesting but I was thinking about a book I'd read, borrowed from a sixth year. It was entitled 'Spell Inventing for the Learning Wizard' by Lard Ambercarp. I thought Severus would be interested. I interrupted his rant about a jinx that made a persons head fill with air and then blow up.
"Hey Sev? You seem pretty interested in this curse stuff, I know someone with a book on inventing your own spells if you want." His face literally lit up and he looked as though he could've hugged me but didn't.
"You do?"
"Yeah, do you want me to see if you an borrow it?"
"Please!" His face broke into that smile so rarely seen on him. But his eyes moved from my face to beside me and the grin faded. I heard snapping branches and heavy footsteps. Reflexively, I jumped up and got out my wand. I felt Severus do the same. The fact that they weren't talking or calling set of alarms. But there was no need to panic. A familiar boy with black hair and glasses emerged from the bushes, batting away a fly. Remus and Sirius followed. I lowered my wand and rolled my eyes. Severus remained standing, wand poised to strike.
"How is it we always run into each other?" I say lazily.
"It is a lovely surprise, isn't it?" James replied warmly. "Mind if we join you?" I looked at Severus to exchange glances of annoyance, except that he was nowhere to be seen. He literally seemed to have vanished into thin air. Fine.
"Yeah, whatever..." I said and plopped myself onto the springy grass. James sat next to me and Remus and Sirius sat next to him, jabbering on about some prank that Peeves, the school poltergeist, had performed. Meanwhile, James struck up a conversation with me.
"Do you like it here?" I looked at him. He seemed serious enough, so I answered as honestly as possible.
"Yeah. It's really cool. I just wish I'd known magic existed before this year..."

Omigod you are absolutely right about Dumbledore I completely forgot!! Professor Elsordy is a great name! sorry I forgot that Dumbledore was the transfiguration teacher.
"You haven't missed out on much you will learn everything you need to know here and now you know all about magic. Better late than never, right." He said
"Yes I guess you're right."
All of sudden I saw Sirius whisper something to James but I didn't quite understand what he said. Then James nodded and Remus and Sirius walked away.
I asked James "Where did they go? IS something wrong?"
'No I just wanted to ask you if you could tutor me in potions since you are so talented at it." he said
I couldn't help but smile
"So can you tutor me?"
"Well you know studying the textbook can help you know?" "But I guess I can help you a little in Potions."
"Thank you so much. When should we start the tutoring?" he said
" I guess we can start tomorrow and I'll help you out with the homework and I'll help you study for the test."
He grinned
"Well I'm going to the library to check out some new books, I guess I will see you tomorrow at the common room." I said
"Do you mind if I join you?'
"Sure but you don't seem like the type of guy that reads for fun"
" I do read a lot." he said
"Oh really I just didn't take you as a guy who would be found at the library reading." I said "What types of books do you read?"
" Quidditch of course"
"Of course.... I should have known" I said sarcastically

Yeah! Please write! It doesn't matter if it doesn't make sense, it's still really fun!
(Things are heating up with James and Lily! ;) Love the tutoring idea, Anita!)
"You know quidditch?" He asked in astonishment as we made our way to the castle. I made a sort of snorting sound.
"No. Not at all."
"Well, would you like to know?"
"Sure..." And he launched into a lengthy explanation about a game with seven players who play on BROOMSTICKS and four balls entitled: The quaffle, bludgers, and the golden snitch. I zoned out most of it but I knew enough now so as not to look like an oblivious idiot.
We entered the library and went straight to the potions section. I pulled out two quills and several rolls of parchment. We found a table near the back where it was silent and uncrowded and started our studying.
"This is ridiculous!" James whispered harshly, pulling me out of my book and making me jump.
"It's only been twenty minutes," I said, looking at the clock on the wall. If anything, he looked bored with the work, rather than frustrated. My brows furrowed and I pulled his parchment towards me. It was impeccable.
"Er, James?" I asked.
"Yeah?"
"This is... fine. You don't have much of a problem problem with potions." I looked at him curiously.
"Uhm... Well, I thought a little extra help couldn't hurt..." He stuttered a bit.
"You're lying," I gasped. "What's up, James?" I started to tease. We were both almost collapsed in silent giggles when a dark-haired figure approached us.
"Hey Sev!" I whispered brightly. He just nodded and walked on, pausing as if to turn back, then thinking better of it.
"Uh oh. He's not happy..."

I made my way-with a little help from a Slytherin Prefect-to the Slytherin commonroom, in the dungeons at around five o'clock. The portrait of a man on his stallion, both spattered in blood, wouldn't let me in.
"But I have to see my friend!" I cried. He rolled is large black eyes and retreated from his frame. I could only guess he'd gone to one of the paintings inside the commonroom and consulted Severus. The door swung open and Severus emerged, looking darker than ever.
"Oh. Hi Lily," he said dully.
"I-I came to give you this," and I handed over the Spell Inventing book I had promised him earlier on.
"Oh, thanks," He said in the same monotone.
"Are you okay, Sev?" I asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine," he made a show of making a huge fake yawn "Just tired. Night, Lily."
"But it's only five-" But he's shut the portrait door gently before I could finish my sentence. I'd never seen him so... blank. Not since he turned up in Diagon Alley with a bruise-covered face.
I headed back to the Gruffindor commonroom and was ushered over to James, Remus and Sirius, who were playing a game called 'exploding snap'. It was great fun. I'd almost forgotten about Severus by dinner time.

I went to bed at around eight, forgetting Severus completely. I woke up to the sound of an owl tapping on the window lightly. Yawning, i went over to let it in.
It wasn't an owl i was familiar with; Chestnut brown, with big, wide eyes. He was holding a letter in his beak, and with some struggling i managed to pry it free. Lily Was written on it in the most curious handwriting. The owl looked around the room and hopped down onto her unmade bed. it looked at her; it's head tilted to the side, staring at her curiously.
She tore the envelope open carefully and peered inside. There was a letter and a pouch holding something small.
(You're a really good writer! :))
Lily, the letter said.
Never forget who your true friends are.
And that was all. The small object was like no other I'd ever seen. It was cigar shaped with rounded ends. When I touched it, it glowed a bluish radiance, when I let it go, it faded to a dull grey. And it didn't seem to be made out of anything in particular, either. I knew that it was in my hand, but I couldn't feel it as such. It was more of a presence rather than the physical being of an object.
What use was this?
And object that's kind of there, but not really, but is? What does the glow mean? I looked back at the letter, then the object. Maybe it was the kind of object that could tell who your real friend is? And the blue glow meant that it knew I was here? I mean, how could it judge my friend as me?
I hover the device over a girls called Pamela, who had started some of the rumors that I was crazy and talked to someone who's not there. The object began to softly whirr, then growl as it lit up bright red and started to vibrate. I yanked it away in astonishment. Yes, this thing tells me who my friends are, but who was it from? I gave the chestnut owl a few flakes of dried food, usually reserved for Caramel.

I headed down to breakfast early that morning and was startled to find James sitting alone near the middle of the table. I looked over to the Slytherin table, but Severus was nowhere to be seen. There were few Gryffindors there, but the hufflepuff table was almost half full. I decided to sit next to James, no point in being rude and avoiding him completely.
"Good morning, Lily," he said warmly as he helped himself to a bowl of porridge.
"James." I looked at the selection of food presented before me and retired to a bowl of porridge, like James.
I pulled the odd object from my pocket and showed it to James.
"Do you know what this is?" I asked. He picked it up from my outstretched hand. The object immediately began to hum and emanate a rhythmic, pulsating glow from green to pink, green to pink. It wasn't angry like it was with Pamela. It seemed...content. James was examining it in awe.
"Wherever did you get it?" He asked with wonder.
"Got it from an owl this morning. Do you know what it is?" I asked eagerly, he looked as if he knew.
"Yeah, a Frenemator. It shows you people you can trust and what they'll be to you- as in in terms of friend, acquaintance, partner... It glows a different colour for each. I hate to say it, but we might need to make a trip to the library to find out what it means..." I laugh at his dread of the library.

OMG I loved the idea with the Frenemator!!! Its kind of like a mood-ring or something but way more interesting!!! I would totally love to have a Frenemator!! :)
As we were walking towards the library I saw Severus he was walking the same way but once he saw us he walked the other way. I told James we can search the different colors of the Frenemator tomorrow. "I have something to do right now." As I was walking towards Severus's direction James pulled my hand and asked me
" Lily why do you always look after him, why are you even friends with him? He isn't right in the mind.... He's not a good person. Everyone seems to understand that except for you. Everyone steers away from him but you don't care and you value is friendship either way."
"How can you tell if someone is right in the mind or not. Who are you to say that Severus isn't a good person. You just don't know him like i do." I was furious how can James be so rude and judge a person without even knowing them.
"I beg to differ Lily I know him way better than anyone else. I know what goes on in his twisted mind."
"I can't believe you James! You know what leave Severus and I alone! I would never want to be friends with type of person who judges someone without truly knowing them" I ran away trying to catch up to Severus. James just stood there dumbfounded.
I was running to find him and I froze seeing him sitting down on stairs looking out the window.
I sat next to him but he didn't budge he looked up but he didn't have an expression on his face. "Hi Sev what happened are you okay?" "Please talk to me I can't stand to see you upset at me without knowing the reason why."
note: Severus is just sitting there when Lily finds him just saying to make the location clear. At the place where Hermione was crying in the half-blood prince when she saw Ron and Lavender snogging

(Oh, thank you Starhyphen! I love writing :)He continued staring.
"Sev!" I yelled, it made him jump at the tone in my voice; but other than that- didn't seem to notice.
I was practically shouting now. "Severus Snape! Don't you dare ignore me!"
"What do you want Lily? Why don't you go pester your new friend, James? You seem to become great friends in the matter of days. You completely forgot who your true friend was and you became friends with his enemy. What do you expect me to do? Do you want me just to wait for you to see and understand that James isn't your friend and that he is just using you? Lily there is no need to pity me just go ahead and go join James's crew if that is what you truly want. There is nothing stopping you." Severus took a deep breathe and waited for me to answer. That was the first time I had seen such frustration and anger in his eyes and tone.
I was speachless but when my voice returnd I said in a soft voice. "You're a better friend than James, Sev." He looked at me with hope in his eyes and i couldn't help adding: "If fact I ditched him to go look for you"
"You really like me as a friend?" I sighed, rolling my eyes. "Don't ever think otherwise." He smiled.
And at that my heart soared! I was just so happy that I knew I had at least one friend in Hogwarts who would always have my back. After what happened that day Severus and I weren't quite fond of James and his crew we always tried to steer away from them. Ever since that incident Severus and I were always together through thick and thin.
A few days after we had a assigned seating in our potions class. I sat in between James and Severus. Severus and I ignored James completely we acted as if he didn't exist even though he was my partner in that class and I was supposed to help him out. James tried talking to me but I always acted as if I didn't hear him. After a couple of days of ignoring james it became like routine Severus and I chatted a little while and helped each other out on the potions were working on and James would work on his potions alone. After a few failed attempts of James trying to talk to me I received a note that said meet me at the Black pond after (lunch or dinner whichever you guys prefer)

I was reading the note over again for the fifth time before lunch, when Severus popped up over my shoulder and said "Who's that from?" then he saw James' named scrawled at the bottom, and his face fell. "You're not gonna do it, are you?" He asked me, becoming serious.
"Of course not!" I lied.
Sev had to catch up on some transfiguration homework as that was his next period. My curiosity got the better of me and I grabbed my books from the table and wandered out of the hall. People in the corridors were few and far between, as everyone was in the Great Hall enjoying lunch. I went out through the large mahogany doors, one of them asked me why I wasn't in the Great Hall, I ignored it and giggled at the pompous huff that followed. I made my way to the pond and sat on the mossy bracken near the bleached-white pebbles that retreated into the glassy water. It was warm and sunny, but I was getting agitated after ten minutes. I got up and started walking away when I heard a soft voice behind me.
"Were you not going to wait for me?" I heard James ask in a mockingly offended tone. I laughed sharply and turned around.
"What do you want Potter?" I said coldly, my anger toward him abruptly returned. He looked almost innocent when he asked me the next question.
"Why have you been ignoring me? I thought we'd decided on being friends." I was brought up short at the expression on his face. It was sad. And it wasn't an expression that suited him.
"Oh, uhm... well, I..." I didn't know what to say.

He scowled slightly when I couldn't respond. "Is because of Snape?" he asked coldly, his sad face becoming stormy. That stung. I straightened up and said "What if it is?"
"Lily can't you see he is trying to push me away. So you will only be friends with him. You shouldn't be friends with that Slytherin slime ball."
"Who are you to say who I can and cannot be friends with. I have known Severus for a very long time. He is the best friend I have ever had. He will always have my back. We will be friends through thick and thin. I can't believe I am wasting my time with you, thinking that you may be different deep down."
"Lily please..." he was trying to hold my hand and pull me back from walking away. At that very second Severus stood right infront of us.

I chase after Sev, who is making his way back towards the castle, and quickly too. "Sev!" I shout after him, my speed-walking turning into a run. Once I reach him, I'm panting. "Sev, please listen." I plead. He faces me, but his eyes slip over the top of my head, refusing to look at my face.
"Sev please! I didn't know who it was from!" I lied. But I was a very good liar and Sev turned and faced me.
(Reckon we could say this letter thing happened in their third year and write the story from there? I just think it's a little heavy for eleven-year-olds. Let me know if you disagree:))
"You didn't know who it was from?" He mocked me.
"What, was the fact that it said James at the bottom not enough of a hint for you?" He continued with varying levels of poisonous venom in his tone.
"Severus," I said softly, abandoning the nickname. "I was just curious. It was a curious mistake, everyone does it." He laughed a short, cold laugh, his eyes empty and black.
"Curiosity killed the Clabbert, Evans. And maybe one day..." he seemed to be deciding his words. "Maybe one day curiosity will kill Mudbloods like you!" He froze in shock at his words, but with the unyielding wound opened, he whipped his cloak around his shoulders and sauntered away. I stood motionless and astonished. And hurt. Gouged deep beyond repair. This was not the kind of wound Madam Pomfrey could heal.
Dark shadows visited me in my dreams that night. Black smoke and blacker fire, swirling around a small, significant figure I knew could only be Snape.

I woke up shaking, sweat trickling down my forehead. The sky said it was still the early morning, four o'clock probably, but I snuck out of bed and down into the common room. Little did I know, I wasn't alone.
Just then, I heard another noise. Someone else was coming down the stairs. I sat, frozen in my seat, my eyes glued to the boys staircase. The door creaked open and I took in a deep breath as James slid out, his eyes alert, and his scraggly hair looking messy, as usual.
I stand up, planing to return to my room. He holds a hand out and says "Wait! I didn't know you were down here! I just came down cuz I couldn't sleep." I narrowed my eyes at him. I wasn't buying this.
Then, believe it or not, he laughed.
"Lily, calm down and stop being so suspicious," he said with a grin. My tension was eased a bit and I sat back down in my chair beside the fire embers. He sat in the one opposite and conjured a glass of water from thin air.
"Want some?" He asked, offering the glass to me. I took it. He was a really exceptional charms student. And he'd developed this annoying habit of pulling his mouth up into a lopsided grin. But it struck me how much I actually liked it. Of course, I never told him.
"So why couldn't you sleep?" He asked.
"Don't want to talk about it. How about you?" I replied glumly.
"No reason in particular... Seriously tell me, it can't be that bad," he pressed me. I smiled weakly at his eager expression. But then my face fell completely when I remembered Severus's face before he whipped away.
"You're pale," he said with concern. "What happened, Lily?" He was actually serious for once.
"It was Severus. When he saw us, he got upset and we argued..." I stopped, not wanting to continue.
"So? Just an argument, Lily."
"Yeah, but then he called me..." I paused. "He called me a Mudblood, James. And he said that curiosity killed the Clabbert and then he said that maybe... curiosity would one day kill Mudbloods like me..." Without meaning to, a tear escaped my eye. James had held the same shocked expression since I'd said 'Mudblood' the first time. I wiped the tear away quickly and looked at my knees.
"That good-for-nothing son of..." he muttered angrily.
"I just don't know what to do, James," I whispered helplessly. I slumped out of my chair and sat, hugging
my knees. He came and sat next to me, putting a caring arm around my shoulders.
"Don't cry, Lily," he said in a strained voice. I looked up at his and he was wearing a pained expression.
"Are you okay?" I said in alarm.
"Yes, why?" He was confused.
"Well, do you know what your face looks like at the moment?" I asked with a watery smile, touching his cheek.

(u guys are awsome writers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! btw i think being a 3year is better then a 1year since it might be a little heave for 11 yearolds )
" it looks like you actully care!" i said softly. " who would not care? you are so nice lily... don't let one stupid comment from Snivvelly Snape get to you!Don't you love the rush of excitement from being a wizard Lily? Don't you feel energy in your every step? Huh?"
Suddendly there was a suddend RAP on the window. Caramel flew in. On a white envelope read "to my favorite wizard. Love Mum." I ripped open the evelope and saw 7 lemon drops.A note in peacock blue ink read " come home for christmas and do well in your schoolwork. Show me some tricks. maybe you can make it warm in this cold house.haha Mum" James smiled and whispered," I have not gotten mail in ages! Mind if I have a lemon drop?" i dropped 3 into his outstretched hans as he gave me 10 berties every flavored beans. the first two were cocunut lemon cake and the next was pepper. Then i ate the rest. THEY WERE VOMIT! I gagged while James laughed." Don't cha know the speckled yellow green ones are vomit?" " That was a nasty trick james!" i screeched. Sirus looked up from his game of chess and smiled. but then i started laughing, it was a strange time too but i did! " lily.... do you want to go geta butterbeer when we get out of hogwarts?" he asked tenatively.someone made snogging sounds." is this a date?" i whispered " you guess." he smiled then I ran to my bed in my dormity yelling " see ya tomorrow in Charms James!"
(Haha, good idea!)
I didn't re-emerge for the rest of the day, thoroughly embarrassed at James's suggestion of a maybe-date. I shuddered a little, boyfriend-girlfriend stuff had never been in my best interests.
Charms class came and I sat next to James, Severus was keeping his distance three seats down.
'Are you going to accept my offer?' James wrote on a piece of parchment to me. I slid it back to him with a: 'I'm trying to learn how to move objects magically, bug off.' I heard him snicker but I didn't dare look at him. Professor Carmen whipped her stern head around to us at the slight sound of scrunching parchment.
"Passing notes, you two?" She sneered. I saw a flicker of dark in my peripherals move, Severus was looking-rather, GLARING- at me. The whole class was silent. It was a great treat when Professor Carmen lost it... unless it's you who she loses it at.
"Well I suppose you wouldn't mind sharing what you think is so much more important than your precious education?" She remarked snidely.
"Not at all, Professor," James said with a smirk. "We were merely discussing whether or not Lily would like to go on a date with me. She told me to bug off, but," he raised his hands to a group of boys near us. "Worth a shot, right?" They nodded in agreement. I was pretty sure my face was the colour of ripe tomatoes, though nothing compared to the putrid puce of Professor Carmen's. She looked as though she could spit fire. James was grinning at first but, as Professor Carmen continued to fume, he faltered and I shrank into the back of my chair.
"One more unauthorized word from either of you," she said deathly quietly, "And it'll be detention for three weeks." She whirled back around and added "In the dungeons, too."
James and I didn't dare move for the rest of the lesson, other than waving our wands stiffly when instructed.
The lunch bell rang at long last and we hurried out of the classroom.
"She's awful," I said to James, still in my form of shock.
"She's Slytherin Head," he said snarkily, just as Severus stalked past.
"Oops," James said quietly to himself. "Wouldn't want to get on Snivelly's bad side... wait, everyone already is!"
I punched James's arm and told him to shut his trap.
We sat together at the Gryffindor table for lunch and I headed to the Lake with the lot of them for lunch break. I went over to the shore and skipped rocks, James joined me while Remus and Sirius played Wizard's Chess.
"So..." He started. "Do you want to go to the Three Broomsticks with me on Saturday?" He asked. I mulled it over again.
"Fine," I gave in.
"Brilliant."

I couldn't help but smile at the fact that I, Lily Evans who truly got annoyed at everything that James has ever said was going on a date with him. I guess the main reason I even wanted to go out with him was that I was truly intrigued that I got annoyed at him at times for his bullying but I felt that there must be something deep down that qualifies him as good person. At the same time I felt like I was betraying Severus. I felt contradictory feelings. I was excited to actually get to know James better but at the same time James and Severus aren't exactly found of each other. I guess another main reason I wanted to go out with James was that I knew that it would make Severus furious and I just wanted to show him that what he said truly heart me but I couldn't put it out in words. what hurt the most was that I didn't expect him to talk to me in that manner. I thought we were friends for life when I was younger. I guess his actions has proven me wrong.
