Jennifer sorry to say that I made it only about 1/3 of the way through and stopped reading - too many great books out there to linger with this one!

Susan This book was a disappointment. I thought it got better toward the end, and I actually started enjoying the modern counterpart of the novel. However, if you're really not enjoying it, I wouldn't bother, and would just find something more to your taste.

Janet No, I didn't like this one, either, tho I did read it all the way through? Why? Because the two other books I'd also borrowed from the library weren't any better. sigh

Marnie I thought parts of the book dragged also. But when it wrapped up farther in the story, I was glad I read it. The back story is the European women in the Middle East/Africa and then the current story is the out-of-place Middle East guy in Europe. I think the story had lessons to teach about tolerance and comfort zones.

It does not get better. I just finished it earlier this week.

Geenyas Does it get better? In a word, "No."
I, too, found this book disappointing. I did finish it, but only because I was listening to the audio version in my car and had nothing else to listen to at the time.

Patti Can't tell you if it gets better - I gave up on it!

Peggy No, it does not get any better. Do yourself a favor and find something better to read. If you want my opinion on it, see my blog posting: http://www.my-book-diary.blogspot.com...

Heidi I pushed through, hoping it would get better. I'm glad I finished it but no, it doesn't get better.

Deanna I actually liked this book. It did start out slowish for me, but the 2nd half picked up - so, in my opinion, yes.

Nancy I'm sorry that so many of you didn't like this book. I can't say it was one of my favorites, nor have I suggested this book to others, but I actually liked it.

What a boring world it would be if we all liked the same thing!

Penny I won this book on the giveaways on this site and I have to say I quite enjoyed it. The two stories running parallel to each other kept me guessing to the end. How the two connected.
And the difference in cultures I found quite an eye opener.
