Dean, Jess or Logan?
All Jess, the new Jess that is. When he comes and visit Rory it's just perfect. He's all put together what with his book and all. And he realizes something that Rory doesn't, that she has to go back to school.

Good looking, intelligent, A WRITER, and completely in love with Rory. Plus, who doesn't love a secret good guy masquerading as a tough guy?
What more could you want?
Oh and I completely hated the fact that Dean cheated on his wife with Rory. Actually, I thought it was ridiculous that he got married in the first place. I'm with Rory - who ever said it was wrong to just DATE when you're nineteen?

Logan I hate from the start, though. He is just too much of a spoiled rich guy, who thinks can do anything that he feels like doing, even if it hurts others.

If not Logan, then a truly grown up Jess. I don't think we got to see enough of him to really see if he'd changed. I hope he did, but I would need more opportunities to observe.

marty wasn't an option for a GOOD reason, he was a jerk to her and avoided her like the plague for a year!

Give the guy a break. Yes, he did some terrible things as a kid. Did he cheat on her? No. Did he pressure her into something sh..."
Caryn, that's exactuly what I was going to say about Jess! You worded it much better than I would have, though. :)

Which I guess makes grown up Jess ideal because he's got the swoon with better communication skills.
Logan - gag (although I'm bound to rewatch that bit soon and reserve the right to revise this) and Dean - double gag and hell whiney. Boooooring.

Haha but seriously Jess ALL THE WAY. Logan was ridiculous and I cannot believe how many people actually liked him. Tristan and Jess challenged Rory. They both had amazing chemistry with her and I think she inspired them a little to be better people. I mean grown up Jess was amazing. I thought that episode really showed how wrong Logan was for her and somehow she still ended up back with him. His proposal just proved that in his world Rory would always have to be someone she wasn't. Rory was in awe of him, Jess was definitely better for her and always full of surprises.
Dean makes me want to tear my hair out. I cheered for Tristan and Jess while Rory was foolishly dating Dean. But I suppose it's normal to date the wrong people in our youth. When they cheated on Lindsay I think I threw a pillow at the TV. No one would be that stupid, least of all Rory Gilmore.

I agree with you on the Jess parts and the ending parts. I didn't like Logan at all. He was turning Rory into something she was not where as Jess allowed her to be herself. To me, Logan was a rich ass the majority of the time. Jess was at least trying to do something with his life in the end. He changed because of Rory and he made her a better person in a way. Logan was tearing her down. I think he was one of the main reasons she dropped out of Yale. I think Jess was one of the major voices that made her go back to Yale. He was definitely better to her in general. He never stopped caring about her. Jess does balance her.
For the ending, I believe that she should have turned around, saw Jess leaning up against the tree, and have him just say "Hey, Rory." and let it end that way. That would have been my ideal ending.

I never like Dean, he was so... uninteresting and lacks spunk and character.

I really liked him for Rory.Even though it was kinda weird later on when he was dating Lucy,I always wished she could give him a chance sometime.

And Logan took a while to get used to. He was always so hot and cold. And I was upset when he insisted that Rory marry him right after graduation although he knew she had other plans. And then he wouldn't wait. What the hell was that?
And Dean, oh I did love Dean. But he was just so dependent on Rory. I found that annoying. He just wasn't on her level intellectually and was completely aware of it. Though he did try to get better for her sake.

I fell in love with Jess the moment he got off that bus. Okay, he was not very nice to Lorelai and Luke (but he got nicer) but I liked the fact that he was nice to Rory. There was something about her that he liked the first time he saw her. You could always tell that he really cared for her. She was propbably the first person he'd ever loved. He was a bad boy, but he was smart and funny, too, and he loved to read, just like Rory.
I think Rory loved Jess, and I don't think she felt the same, strong emotions about Dean. She needed him in her life. I really wish he would have turned up in the last episode, but since he didn't, I'm going to keep envision it in my head: Rory meets Jess again, and they'll be together forever :D

So I'd have to say Jess in the later years, because in high school he was just a jerk.

They completed each other and really made a great team. Ahhh, as you Melanie, I was sooo sad when she walked away!

I totally agree. I watched the episode where Martha and Davey get christened the other day and thought exactly the same thing as you. She seemed fake, especially when talking with Lane. I couldn't decide if it was the direction Rory had taken or Alexis's acting which had changed though.
I think this is part of the reason why I don't like the later seasons so much. Rory was very opinionated to begin and wouldn't care so much about 'fitting in'. She seemed to have a complete change of direction (even personality) in around Season 5/6, but maybe that was her trying to find out who she was. Or maybe she was trying to fit into Logan's lifestyle - I just never felt she really belonged there.

LOGAN.
Dean and Jess suited her well durring the times they were with her, but Logan was just so nice. Like her, he grew up with rich family (Rory's case is different, but still). Jess was nice when he grew up, but it was ridiculous that he expected her to wait through all of his nonsence before we see that side of him. Logan had his bad moments. but still. However, I think it was VERY out of character for Logan to say "Marry me or break up." He loved her sooo much, and for him to make her choose between him, and the life she wanted to live was a bit extreme. I realize that, in this show, it was inevitable that Rory would eventually break up with Logan, but (just saying) if it were me, I would've married him.

I feel like Logan (while he was understandably upset) let go of Rory too quickly. I'm glad she didn't decide to marry him, she still had a lot to do on her own, but to just give up after everything they had been through seemed to be really unsupportive of her goals and dreams.
Dean was a good first boyfriend (and third boyfriend) but he had a lot of his own growing to do.
As for those saying that Alexis's acting was different (or possibly Rory was different), there was that big staff change in the last season(s), so it's probably a little of both. Plus the last season was a little rushed. While I'm glad they pretty much wrapped up story lines (and got Lorelai and Luke back together!!!!!), they could have gone one more season. I mean, they brought back 7th Heaven, and they had totally wrapped that up!

The million dollar question that put a wedge in my friendship with my best friend! :)
I always saw the good in Jess. But then Logan came along and, as Rory grew up, I saw them as an equal match and since Jess was gone, no one knows how he grew and evolved. But I will always have that soft spot for Jess.

Then Logan came into the picture. It was love at first sight! Omg, THE SMILE. Isn't he gorgeous when he smiles? One just has to love his little wrinkles around the eyes. Sure he wasn't a perfect match for her in the beginning and he used to be a jerk, but I was so touched when he decided to make a commitment to her! He did make some mistakes along the way, but let's face it - which boy doesn't? Despite some of his antics from the past he was a hell of a gentleman and he really loved Rory. And I don't really think that he was spoilt! Well, at least not as much as he could be in his position.
I skipped Dean because I just simply couldn't stand that guy!
VOTE LOGAN! ^^
