LOL Cathy, that was a good one! Except that the guy would look horrible as we have to sew up his face. Heh.

message 102: by Haley (new)

Haley anderson (volleyballstar_94) | 5 comments i totally think JESS. Dean was to over her, he seemed stalkerish. but jess is so protective and loving and he reads and he really loves rory.Logon i also like but he just seems to not very considerent to rory, and what she does. but jess is TOTALLY the best. like when he see's rory durung her drop out period from yale. and he tells her that logon shouldnt treat her lik that and what she is doing with her life is not her. that was the best because you can see he cares for her. You didnt see Logon trying to stop her from quiting yale and steeling the boat or anything like that. GO JESS!!

message 103: by Annie (new)

Annie come on guys isn't anyone going to go for Dean?? I say DEAN- he was the perfect boyfriend for years until Rory fell for Jess and it was so obvious.
Dean was so loyal -he made her a car for pete's sake! He went to the horrible Chiltern Dance where that other guy tried to fight him...he sat through Pippi Longstocking repeatedly-he was a lovely person and so heartbroken by Rory.

message 104: by Annie (new)

Annie BTW- what else has Matt Czechy ( I can't spell his last name) been in? I haven't seen him in anything else.

message 105: by Tamar (new)

Tamar | 4 comments Oh, I'd definitely choose Jess. When they first dated, he just wasn't stable enough, but they were so right for each other. After he got himself together, they would be absolutely perfect. Dean was too clingy and whiny and while I liked Logan I don't think they had much of a connection.

Annie - just wanna say you're not alone. *wink*

message 107: by Jamie (last edited Mar 12, 2008 12:35PM) (new)

Jamie Annie,

I've seen Matt Czuchry on Veronica Mars and Friday Night Lights, but you can check out imdb.com to see everything he's appeared in, if you're interested. I wasn't really a Logan fan myself (I prefer Jess later on in the series), but I now have a hard time seeing Matt as someone other than Logan.

message 108: by Dana Melinda (new)

Dana Melinda | 8 comments I didn't like Jess the entire time he was dating Rory, but when he came back years later, he seemed like a decent guy. I think Rory would be much happier with him long term. And who knows...

message 109: by Sarah (last edited Mar 26, 2008 11:31AM) (new)

Sarah (songgirl7) OK, I think there might be something seriously wrong with me, because I just realized that if I went to Rory's fictitious Yale, I would have totally been crushing on Colin and Finn. Especially which ever one has the accent.

message 110: by Ryara (new)

Ryara Toft Logan was a total rich dork!
Dean was just plain ickola!
Jess was a bad boy!
I think Rory could've done better!

message 111: by Caitlin (new)

Caitlin | 6 comments I would have said Logan until he broke up with her because she didn't want to get married. If I had to choose 1 it would be the grown-up version of Jess. He brings adventure to her life like Logan, but also isn't as daring because he doesn't have th ecomfort of knowing that daddy (and his money!!) are going to bail him out. That was the problem with Logan; he did what he wanted because nobody would be too mad because of his dad. He was majorly spoiled. Grown-up Jess still has a sense of reality and consequences.

message 112: by Faith (new)

Faith | 2 comments i definatly agree that jess was the best.

message 113: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay Wolsey It took me 3 months to get over the Series Finale. I really wanted Rory to end up with Logan, but I think that she'd end up with Jess. And then she'd be poor, and never get to travel again. But she'd have someone to talk to.

But I do know that there were plans for Logan to appear in the final season that wasn't, so he would have turned up again.

message 114: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (songgirl7) I am absolutely positive that Rory would never be "poor." I'm sure she has a gigantor-sized trust fund from Richard and Emily.

message 115: by Meghan (new)

Meghan As well as her father, Chris. He inherited everything when his father died and became Daddy Warbucks rich. Well, rich enough to pay off her college tuition and close down a Parisian restaurant for the entire night to properly propose.

message 116: by Cristina (new)

Cristina (paienpoesie) | 2 comments I liked Logan the most. I was a Dean fan and I hated Jess because he made Dean suffer, Rory/Jess was a bittersweet relationship... Logan was so different from Rory, that's why he was perfect for her!

But they weren't the man. Rory has too much to learn before find him.

message 117: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (_queserasarah) I must admit, I was totally enamored with Jess -- when he wasn't being a complete poo-face at least. :)

message 118: by Jeanette (new)

Jeanette Can I just say how much I hate Dean? I always thought he treated Rory like trash. He was too selfish and at times just down right mean to her. I never really cared for Logan either. So I guess I like Jess. Although I agree with the comment made ages ago about the unknown guy.

message 119: by Holly (new)

Holly (menstrualpoetry) I hated Dean! Ever since he and Rory first started dating I was thinking "Come on already, break up!" I am definitely all for Jess, especially the grown up Jess, he was definitely the right one for Rory.

message 120: by Anna (new)

Anna (lilfox) | 199 comments I'm after Jess. I hated Dean, cause he was so so ....dumb. And than he got married with a girl Rory thought he left.

message 121: by Arctic (new)

Arctic | 571 comments ok. I've finally decided. Of the three, I choose Team Logan. I think he compliments Rory's personality the best overall.

And yes, Dean was dumb. but also sweet. Jess was smart, but also psycho. Logan was smart and sweet without being psycho. Plus, as much as the Girls try to escape it, I think class is a factor as well. I'd be interested to hear how others feel about that aspect of the relationships.

message 122: by Megan (new)

Megan | 118 comments Your comment about class is interesting. Technically, what class would Rory and Lorelai be in? I'm not completely sure.

message 123: by Arctic (new)

Arctic | 571 comments and that's a big theme to the show I think, that uncertainty about class status.

In Stars Hallow, they live a middle / upper middle class lifestyle, but they always have that tie to the upper class Gilmore grandparents to fall back on if they need to, whether they choose to acknowledge it or not. That alone would indicate privileges that set them above typical middle class families. In some ways they're just pretending to be less than they could be. And in doing so, in 'stooping', they supposedly tarnish their upper class standings (according to Logan's family), leaving them in some kind of class limbo.

message 124: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (songgirl7) I think there were even classes within the classes. The Huntzbergers were way more wealthy than the Gilmores, I think. Even though they traveled in the same circles, Rory was still very impressed with the Huntzberger abode. It was like a museum, whereas the Gilmore's house was merely a mansion (merely. Heh). Shira told Emily that Gilmore money was nowhere near Huntzberger money.

And yes, Dean was dumb. but also sweet. Jess was smart, but also psycho. -- Well said, Heather. Sometimes I feel Dean gets bashed too much that people forget how sweet he treated Rory (and I do think Rory didn't treat the poor guy the way he deserved).

And nice comments on the class issues, guys.

message 126: by [deleted user] (new)

Totally Jess. What a hottie!! Most my friends agree a that the bad boy image was hot and that there is still a hint of it, in his new, book writing educated life! Out of the three Logan is too self centered and thats not Rory. Dean is way to, stay in one place and make me dinner. Jess is crazy, and cool, and reads just as much as Rory, and well he is just Jess!

message 127: by Robbie (new)

Robbie Bashore | 592 comments I just really like the chemistry between Rory and Jess--at least before they actually get together. I've said it before--this show really helps me get reacquainted with my teenage emotions. And with my single 30ish emotions.

message 128: by Nicole (new)

Nicole | 38 comments For me it would be a toss up between Jess and Logan.

message 129: by whichwaydidshego, the sage of sass (new)

whichwaydidshego | 1996 comments Mod
For all of you that voted for the "new" Jess, don't you think that would be doomed? So much of what made Jess, well, JESS was that bad-boy side. You take that away and he's rather dull, actually. Sure, he reads and writes, but I think he'd loose his attraction pretty quickly because it was his fire that intrigued and drew her. I'm just saying. Of course, it's been a while since I watch it so I should get back to it.

Heather, I REALLY agree that class is a big factor. Especially once she'd finished college... she'd lived in that privileged world for quite some time, and that coupled with her intellect I think sets her far away from Dean or Jess by that time.

As for Logan, boy-oh-boy you gals are rough on him! I'm with Heather (again) in that if I had to pick one of those three guys (which I wouldn't), that it would be him because in so many ways they helped each other grow - and grow up - and in doing so, showed that they could make it through the storms as well as the lovely days.

The thing about Logan is, I get it. I get why it was an all-or-nothing thing. I'm sad about it because Rory needed time to go do her thing - live her dreams - and go to Fez and all that, but I really, really get it. When your love, feelings, passions, emotions are so strong that you want to commit your life to someone, if they aren't ready... you can't maintain something lesser because every day you'd be dying inside from the lack. Am I making sense?

Oh, and Sarah, killing me with this one:

OK, I think there might be something seriously wrong with me, because I just realized that if I went to Rory's fictitious Yale, I would have totally been crushing on Colin and Finn. Especially which ever one has the accent.

Killing me because as soon as you said it, I was like "Oh my God - ME TOO!!!"

Oh, and I LOVE how Logan called her "Ace." It SO worked that it annoyed her at first, but then became such an endearing nickname. I had that with my bro. Except it wasn't quite such a flattering name. We still call each other "Hoser." ;D

message 131: by Arctic (new)

Arctic | 571 comments oh man the "Ace" thing is the one thing that really gets on my nerves about Logan. I see what your saying about such names becoming endearing after awhile, but it just never grew on me.

If Logan is self centered, what is Jess? I agree with Robbie that Jess had great chemistry with Rory before they were together, but once they were a couple, he seemed like the worst, whiniest boyfriend ever, IMHO. sullen, uncommunicative, pushy, and disappearing without any notice whatsoever.

message 132: by whichwaydidshego, the sage of sass (new)

whichwaydidshego | 1996 comments Mod
SO with you on that Jess bit, Arctic! But I still like "Ace." ;D

message 133: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (songgirl7) After reading all these comments and recently re-watching both the Jess and Logan episodes on ABC Family, I'd like to retract my vote. I had voted for older Jess but I agree with those who've said Rory wasn't ready to settle down yet. Of the three, though, I think grown up Logan was most suited to her. He's not perfect by any means but I think their shared backgrounds and also their shared interest in the media industry would have been best for her.

message 134: by Marisa (new)

Marisa (guitargeek0624) | 15 comments As an outward cynic with the heart of a hopeless romantic, I have to say that Jess is my ideal man. He has everything I, personally, could ever want in a guy: wit, great taste in music and books, a highly intellectual side, and...well, he's not bad to look at, either! There was so much chemistry between him and Rory in season 2; in fact, although I adored them together in season 3, I prefer watching the season 2 episodes that built up to their relationship, especially "Teach Me Tonight." I see them as a modern-day Romeo and Juliet: a small-town, somewhat naive girl with high aspirations, and an inner-city "bad boy" who is mislabeled and misunderstood collide, much to the dismay of their parents (well, just Lorelai for Rory). There's something a lot like destiny with them that transcends the circumstances of the show. If there's ever been a couple that has tugged at my heartstrings, it's definitely them.

I think that after season 4, Rory changed quite a bit (and for the worse, in my opinion). I guess post-season 4, Logan is a good choice for her, but I have always believed in the Rory of seasons 2 and 3. So I guess I'm partial to Jess because my mind is stuck in that time period of the show. :-)

Wow. That was a really astute explanation. VERY well put, Marisa. Rock on.

message 136: by Robbie (new)

Robbie Bashore | 592 comments Marisa:
I totally agree. In fact, instead of my lame-o answer earlier, I should have just posted "what Marisa will post in the future." :D

message 137: by Marisa (new)

Marisa (guitargeek0624) | 15 comments Glad to see some other Jess fans here! I've had plenty of practice in refining my pro-Jess argument, as I have two friends (one for Dean, one for Logan) that are just as ardent in their justifications. I can get pretty intense about it. :-P

Aside from what I said before, I can't really explain why I love Jess so much. Just watching the show and seeing Jess and Rory connect says it all better than I can. Subtle things, like the way they look at each other...heart-melting, for sure.

message 138: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (songgirl7) I wonder how much that had to do with the fact that Alexis Bledel and Milo Ventimiglia dated for a couple of years.

message 139: by Marisa (new)

Marisa (guitargeek0624) | 15 comments I'm sure that their off-screen chemistry translated on-screen. The connection between Rory and Jess seemed so natural, so I guess that's the reason why. :-)

message 140: by [deleted user] (new)

Team Jess.

There is no doubt in my mind.

message 141: by [deleted user] (new)

JESS is the BEST

message 142: by Synova (new)

Synova | 20 comments Does anyone watch the reruns on ABC Family?

Currently the episodes are the ones from season one, and right now Tristan (Chad Michael Murray) is on there, and is it just me or is Tristan how you imagine Logan to be at that age?

message 143: by Caitlin (new)

Caitlin | 6 comments I never thought of it that way, but I do think that Tristan does sort of seem like a younger version of Logan.

message 144: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay Wolsey That's what I was thinking too! Except for getting into more scrapes.

message 145: by Esme (new)

Esme | 1 comments I love Jess

message 146: by GraceAnne (last edited Jul 14, 2008 04:19PM) (new)

GraceAnne Tremain | 31 comments I have to admit that I never really loved any of the guys Rory dated. I just viewed them as temporary but necessary learning experiences. Dean was more interesting in the first season, until they added Jess and the Dean character seemed to be "dumbed down" to exaggerate the differences between the two. Jess was refreshingly literate but so immature that I just wanted to shake him. I guess that I want Rory to end up with someone that we did not meet yet, maybe someone that she will meet while covering the presidential campaign.

Although, I do like the idea of the grown up Jess that we met in Season 6.

message 147: by Liz (last edited Jul 15, 2008 07:24AM) (new)

Liz | 18 comments I say Jess. He was a bad boy in early seasons, but in the later seasons he became more responsible and less bad boy. He even published a book. I never liked Logan; he was too Emily and Richardish. Basically the opposite of Lorelai. And Dean was nowhere near as smart as Rory. He was a good 1st boyfriend. I actually think Marty might have turned out to be a decent boyfriend for Rory...maybe if they make an 8th season...
Oh and I agree about Tristan being like a younger Logan.

message 148: by Robbie (new)

Robbie Bashore | 592 comments Okay, so I saw Rory and Logan and Rory's scoop on the Life and Death Brigade last night, and I have to confess to liking Logan and Rory together. Not permanently, mind you, but I think it will be fun for the college years. Doesn't everyone need some time with a spoiled, crazy, rich friend? Of course, I was kind of rooting for a relationship with Tristan in high school, too.

message 149: by Juliane (new)

Juliane (juliegilmore) | 1 comments Team Jess, again :)

I totally agree with Annabeth [in every word]!

message 150: by Hillary (new)

Hillary | 2 comments I would've been happy with Jess or Logan. The bad boy and the money are equally appealing when both guys are so good looking. Dean was too obedient and going nowhere.

Response to message 25 - I think you were talking about Logan, not Jess... but that was not an "almost date rape" (they were just hanging out - Rory wasn't upset or in danger at any time), she didn't quit school to live with Logan - she quit school and lived with her grandparents in Hartford and do her own thing, and I'm not even sure what that third reference is about...
