Karen A. Wyle (kawyle) | 97 comments I need reactions to a possible title. I won't go into what the book is about. If you saw a book called The Story of Our Days, then:
--what subject matter/genre would you expect?
--what associations would the title have in your mind?
--would you be bored, intrigued, or something else?
Thanks!

Christine Rice (christine_rice) | 82 comments These are my first thoughts about the title:

Memoir, autobiography.
Reminds me of "The Days of our Lives" soap opera.
Not interested; sounds boring.

Just being honest.

Bryn Hammond (brynhammond) I too thought at once of Days of Our Lives, and that's unfortunate. Without that, I think I'd have liked the title. In fact, yes, I like the cadence and a sort of mood.

Karen A. Wyle (kawyle) | 97 comments I had the same problem, but was hoping that younger folks wouldn't know about that show. I've had several people make the same response, but I don't know their ages.

Hmmm. I'm in my forties; but I hear the kids making fun of Days of Our Lives, that their mothers watch or they themselves watch to have a laugh. When I was at uni students used to watch the daytime soaps for amusement - maybe they still do.

Sherri Moorer (sherrithewriter) Sounds like a biography, autobiography, or some sort of regional fiction story. It's not really strong or "catchy."

My first reaction would be that the book would be general fiction, or women's fiction, and a drama (possible a family drama) or saga. The title did remind me of Days of Our Lives, but I used to watch the show so in that respect it caught my attention. However, if I'm critiquing it, the title is nice but seems a bit generic.

Literary Chanteuse My first reaction is it is possibly a bio or drama/historical. Perhaps an older couple or a family with a look into their past. Hope this helps!

message 10: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 14 comments The title sounded to me as if it would appeal to an older generation, or to a market that only enjoys biographies.

message 11: by C.M. (new)

C.M. Truxler (cmtruxler) | 3 comments I would expect that the book would be non-fiction, possibly auto-biographical. I could also possibly have to do with a generation of people, or an overview of a decade or certain time period.

I think the title may intrigue history buffs, or those into portions of time. Others may be turned off by it. It depends what the genre of the novel is truly.

message 12: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Garrett (heidi_g) I immediately thought memoir, biography, too:)

message 13: by Kayla (new)

Kayla (sweetlykayla) Memoir. Romance. Family. Life. OR-
(and I apologize) a YA book about two teens who run away, maybe sci-fi/fantasy...
-A person catagorized as "younger person"

message 14: by Rhoda (new)

Rhoda Baxter (rhodabaxter) | 4 comments Sounds like a memoir. It's not a terribly interesting title to be honest and I probably wouldn't pick it up. (Sorry!).
I haven't seen Days of Our Lives, but I have heard of it (Mainly from watching Friends).

message 15: by Grace (new)

Grace (fictionaladventures) | 56 comments I would think it'd be some kind of biography or a historical thing, not the type of writing I usually read. I think it's a decent title, but not so eye-catching that I'd pick it up.

When a thread has become obsolete, as this one has, does anyone know a way to remove it?
