Which current players would you cast as Warren Tracey and Joe Castle?

I was trying to think of what current players fit the mold of the two players in the book.

In the role of aging pitcher who failed to live up to his potential and is known as a bit of a jerk, I nominate Brett Myers. I could also see Erik Bedard in the role of Tracey.

Castle is easy. It has to be Mike Trout. I suppose it could be Bryce Harper too.

Bryce Harper without a doubt is Joe Castle.

If Roger Clemens does indeed pitch for Houston this Sept as has been rumored then he would be a good Tracey....especially as he will not be close to his.previous self. Agree with Trout as Joe Castle.

Francisco Liriano is another possibility for Tracey...or he would be my pick if Clemens does not return

Grisham and I are around the same age. The guy I thought of as Castle was Joe Charbonneau, the former Cleveland Indian rookie of the year. Warren Tracey is Clemens...

When I think of pitchers who can't really control their emotions, I would have to go with Carlos Zambrano. A pitcher who at his prime was on the verge of being a premier pitcher but could not quite get there.

A vote for Trout or Harper, both phenoms in the game today!

After re reading the book....I would not include Clemens. Warren Tracey was a mediocre pitcher at best. Clemens and even Zambrano don't fit this character. Liriano is still my choice...he gets too emotional at times.

Oh..and for Castle...even though he was a pitcher, how about Mark Fidrych? All the national attention he received in the days before Twitter and the Internet....

Bryce harper is too much of a showman for Joe Castle. I would pick Todd Frazier of the Cincy Reds.
As for Tracey,I agree with Brett Meyers. They have the same personality type.
The interesting question is which actors would play them in a movie. Ryan Gosling could pull it off as Tracey despite his youth. Maybe Zac Efron or Channing Tatum for Joe, but he is a bit old now.

I agree, Trout would be my pick, Harper doesn't remind of Castle.

For Tracey, how about Zach Greinke? He got into it with both the Padres and D-backs this year.

Tracey was mediocre at best. Grienke is too good and a former Cy Young winner.
