I've actually thought about that but some people may have not read all 3 of the books.

message 252: by Polus (new)

Polus (halbpolus) How about these people just say that they did not read that book?

Or make a first read, reread, rewrite, burn game out of it?

Just two ideas that came to my mind.

Adriana Stone | 322 comments I think it would be very gelpful if someone posted a thread each month that included all the challenges you can start to sign up for or are continuing and the winners and finishers if last month's challenges just bc it's hard to keep up with everything that is going on.

message 254: by Gisbelle (new)

Gisbelle | 25787 comments Hi there Adriana. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll think it over and see what we can do with it. While I think it sounds acceptable, in the meantime, I don't think it's necessary.

Each participant in any challenge is encouraged to post when they complete the challenge in that challenge thread, so creating a new thread just to gather that information to keep in one place will only add more workload.

As for posting about new challenges so that people will know when it's time to sign up, I have already posted links on the group homepage, right under the masthead picture. Therefore, I don't think having a new thread on top of that will be necessary because as soon as you click on the group, you'll see the new challenges. I only remove the links after the signup is over.

Moreover, we also have a folder where everyone in the group is welcome to start their own thread to keep track of the challenges they have joined. MEMBER FOLDERS: CHALLENGES
Each thread will be kept there unless it hasn't been updated within one year.

Jandy Salguero (goodreadscomjandysalguero) | 7 comments Hi there, I have a 5 day free promo coming up in mid-October on my YA novel, and I was wondering if it's okay for me to post somewhere for this group to see when my book becomes free on Amazon. If so, what's the preferred way for me to do so?

message 257: by Gisbelle (new)

Gisbelle | 25787 comments Hi Jandy. You may post in one of these folders:
Promotion | Beta Readers & Reviewers | Freebies & Giveaways

message 258: by Ross (new)

Ross Friedman | 6 comments Hello,
I am an author who has a few e-book stubs for free download and I was hoping to offer a free download to anyone who is willing to rate/review it on Goodreads. How can I do that in the group?
The name of the book is Apotheosis and my name is Ross Friedman. Thanks for any support!

Alyson Stone (alysonserenastone) | 300 comments Question about the monthly books. If we can only get one of them, are we still allowed to participate in the discussions? I'm on a long waiting list for one of them.

message 261: by Gisbelle (new)

Gisbelle | 25787 comments Sure. You may post your opinions, but you cannot vote.

Jessica When we make the Buddy read threads I noticed we have to do the arrow a certain way, but i don't know how.
Is there a code for that?

You would have to copy and paste the arrow. :)

message 274: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (jennyhammy) Hi everyone. I'm a little confused about how this work. I put in to read the Maze Runner with a group that posted it would start today. However, there is nothing showing that anyone else has started reading it. So I guess my question is do I have to have consent to join a reading group before I can join it, or is there a different section that maybe the discussion of the book takes place, do they assign chapters we read or do we just read all of the book. Any insight would be helpful. thank you!

message 275: by Gisbelle (new)

Gisbelle | 25787 comments Hello Jenny,

I'm not sure if you talk about the Group book or the buddy read. Our group had Maze Runner as the book of the month over 2 years ago, so I assume you talked about a buddy read.

Each buddy read is different depending on people who participate. Some people assign how many chapters they should read each day, while some read at their own pace and then post when they find anything worth mentioning.

The group has no control over the buddy reads, so sometimes people start a buddy read, but end up not reading the book. Inactive buddy read threads will be moved to Abandoned Buddy Read folder after not being active for at least 1 week.

I hope this answers your questions. Please let me know if you need any further assistance.

Thanks.

message 276: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (jennyhammy) THanks Gisbelle. It is helpful and explains a bit, but a its a little disheartening too. I was hoping for something more active with continuous participation.

message 277: by Gisbelle (new)

Gisbelle | 25787 comments Like I said, it depends on who you choose to do the buddy reading with. I have noticed that there are a few people who just create the threads and don't actually read the books later.

message 292: by Maria (new)

Maria | 786 comments I have a question in the challenges i see that when a person finishes a book there's a line across the book title or a tick next to it. How can I do that?

message 293: by Mehsi (last edited Apr 17, 2015 10:30AM) (new)

Mehsi The line across is basic HTML stuff. < s> < /s> (remove the spaces) And I am guessing the tick thing is either an image or the ascii or alt code image: ✓ or ✔. For the code (if you don't want to keep copy pasting it), I would recommend checking google, as it various per key board/regions/fonts it seems.
