do u lend books easily? or not at all. and why?

Once I lent a Library book to my friend and her sister ripped it and colored on it. Another time, a friend ripped my book while I was watching her. I ended up paying 15 $ USD for each book. After that, I have never lent a book to anyone! But I still take books from people..
