Knight by Steven James. He is a relatively new author and, therefore, might be a fresh and unpredictable read for the group. This book is from his "Bowers Files" series. I have read books 1 & 2 in this series and have found each book in the series to stand alone. While there are some characters that have been in one or both of the previous books in this series, the series does not require one to read them in any specific order. Books 1 & 2 (Pawn and Rook respectively) were both incredible reads in this genre, so I highly recommend this one for the Sept/Oct group read.
Common Enemy was a great thriller I read a few weeks ago. Serial killer on the ocean. The antagonist was REALLY creepy, gave the chills every time his voice was core in the story. Intense book this, you'll like it :)
I nominate Dark Prairiesby R.S. Guthrie. This is his magnum opus and getting rave reviews (including one from me). Once you start reading it, it's hard to put down. Usually I can see where a story is going but I had to pick my jaw up off the floor several times with this one. I hate the cliche didn't see that coming but it's appropriate with this book. Even if it doesn't get picked, I highly recommend it.
I'd like to recommend The First Lady Sleeps by my friend John Mullally. It's a real page turner about the challenges a President and the first family faces in the White House and the investigation one Secret Service agent takes upon himself in a time of great danger at the White House. Recommended for political buffs and mystery fans.
Wow, that seems amazing, three people in a row nominating a novel to read. I haven't seen that before, w/o some kind I'd discussion about the novel between the nominators.
That should read: w/o some kind OF discussion. I hate it when I am on an Apple device that fixes words for me, incorrectly!
Unless they're all friends of the author. I don't see a lot of reviews of it anywhere. At least not on GR or Amazon.

I couldn't find it on Barnes & Noble either. That doesn't mean it's not a great read, but it may be hard to find.
Caitlin, Robby and Ryan, can you tell us where to find the book?

All I was saying is that I just don't trust it when there are only three reviews and I think it was only rated by 1-2 on GR.

I read the ARC of "And WHen She Was Good." Lipmann is a superb writer, and the story herein was surgically presented and elegantly written. I couldn't put it down.
