Normandy (bookwitch69) I don't know what the name is but I am terrified of cockroaches. Also a fear of suffocating. That is it.

Hey so I'm gonna make my list, some of my phobias are directly linked to a certain event and I'll write down if that's the case. -clears throat- Okay, it's a long one....

Aeroacrophobia - fear of open high spaces
Agoraphobia - fear of leaving a safe place
Agraphobia / Contreltophobia - fear of sexual abuse (This thought crosses my mind basically every time I leave the house, whether it's to school or to walk to the gas station just outside my apartment. I was sexually abused by my father, and I was raped by a different man)
Anthropophobia/Social Phobia/Sociophobia - fear of people or society
Atelophobia - fear of imperfection (Okay this one is a long explination.. I've been told since I was little I was the worst kid out of my siblings, my younger sisters are geniuses - actual geniuses, not just saying that - so I'm compared to them and their AP classes and college classes while still in high school.. a lot. On top of that I have an eating disorder I'm struggling through, which for those of you who have suffered with one know just how "must find perfectionism" that can be...)
Claustrophobia - fear of confined places
Clithrophobia - fear of being enclosed (don't have an explination for this, just want to add that this is a VERY bothersome phobia for me...)
Ephebiphobia - fear of teenagers (SO BAD! Which sucks cause I AM a teenager... 19.. have had this since.. fifteen or sixteen, and dropped out of school)
Gelotophobia - fear of being laughed at
Illyngophobia - fear of vertigo or looking down (my dad has vertigo, and once when I was little he was carrying me during a hike, and he got a spell and fell, dropping me. Ever since then I've been scared to death that I'll get the same thing, or whenever he would have a spell.)
Katagelophobia - fear of ridicule (once again my past of abuse and being the lesser of my younger sisters.)
Ligyrophobia - fear of loud noises (4th of July is my least favorite day of the year.. I always have major panic attacks.. this last one I had overdosed on sleeping pills just so I could sleep throughout the day/night)
Merinthophobia - fear of being bound or tied up (history of abuse caused this one as well)
Metathesiophobia - fear of changes (I'm pretty ocd, like a miniature Adrian Monk, and I'll panic if there's change. My mom always told me I'd grow out of that, but here I am 19 and still panicking if I can't eat/do exactly what I had planned)
Obesophobia / Pocrescophobia - fear of gaining weight (eating disorder)
Pedeophobia - fear of dolls (Like NO FREAKING OTHER... I used to nanny for this family that had victorian dolls everywhere... I quit after one week, couldn't do it.)
Philophobia - fear of falling in love (I think this is very common...)
Rhabdophobia - fear of being severely punished (once again, history of abuse)
Scriptophobia - fear of writing in public (I believe I read somewhere once that it's also the fear of reading in public. I have OMA, and got teased a lot when reading/writing for my head movement, so I just can't anymore)
Virginitiphobia - fear of rape (I was raped, and now I can't go anywhere without that being in the back of my mind that it might happen again)

Lucy (vintagequeen) Oh, my, gosh... I am very sorry to hear about your past with abuse and rape. I completely feel for you, and can see why you have a lot of fears for that. You've had quite a hard life growing up, which is very sad. :C

message 61: by Lucy (last edited Sep 08, 2012 01:26AM) (new)

Lucy (vintagequeen) Sure, just listing them will be fine.

message 62: by schu (new)

schu Aww, Silver. I'm sorry. I hope you're okay.

message 63: by [deleted user] (new)

Thank ya for the sympathy, I'm doing okay. I've learned to live with it. The only thing I'm finding hard is finding a way of income because of my phobias. Currently I'm in an apartment my mom is paying for.

message 64: by schu (last edited Sep 12, 2012 04:45AM) (new)

schu Oh Goodie! You live alone, How was it/ :) I haven't live alone.

message 65: by [deleted user] (new)

Living alone isn't all it lives up to be, but the freedom from having my mother breathing down my neck is nice. I have a history of doing some 'unsafe' things like cutting/burning/hitting myself and starvation, so she would watch me closely. I know she was doing it because she loves me, but I'll admit it was getting rather old, and was probably more triggering than anything else to be constantly asked every time I wore long sleeves if I was cutting again.

message 66: by schu (new)

schu Ahhh, But at least your mom had your good intentions. :) Even though they're pushy sometimes. :) I hope your doing well, Do you go to school or not? ;)

message 67: by Lucy (new)

Lucy (vintagequeen) Agreed, mothers are just doing what they think is best for you because they love you. I also hope you are doing well Silver, you're in our hearts and I pray to the Lord that you will be blessed with a more fortunate future. :)

message 68: by [deleted user] (new)

:) You guys are so sweet, but to answer your question Nicole yes we're in school. I checked what Silver had written and she did mention the DID, well I'm Jess, the oldest, at 23. Since I clicked on it and it won't ever say "2 new" again I thought I'd better write a response. Silver is working on getting her degree in "mythology" - though the name mythology has always gotten to me, because it is still a practiced religion. They should call it ancient religious studies.

Oh, What do you do when you see one? ;)

message 72: by Celine☆ (new)

Celine☆ | 26 comments I'm sometimes afraid of driving highway speed in small vehicles. I'm getting over that, but when I was little I nearly cried (i think i did a few times, actually) when we drove over bridges or highways with deep ditches. I got stomach aches as we drove from tensing. It was gone for a few years, but it's kind of coming back.

message 73: by Lucy (new)

Lucy (vintagequeen) Oh! I'm deadly scared of bridges, I'm always afraid they're going to collapse.

I usually just walk away slowly and awkwardly 0.o

message 75: by Celine☆ (new)

Celine☆ | 26 comments Really? That's a cool fear. XD If fear can be considered cool in any form... lol

message 76: by Billy (new)

Billy M. | 10 comments Haha yeah, Its very odd :) but I guess its strangeness could be classified as cool! lol

message 77: by Celine☆ (new)

Celine☆ | 26 comments LOL Yeah. Is there like, a reason for you being afraid of them? An allergy or somthing, idk? There's no reason for me being afraid of being in a driving car, beside crashing and stuff...

message 78: by Dean (new)

Dean MacAllister (deanmacallister) I Love phobias! I kind of lost most of mine because of overinteraction. (Lost fear of heights through sky diving, fear of drowning by diving etc) But phobias interest the hell out of me. The dizziness, adrenaline, heavy breathing....sounds like a good night to me!

message 79: by Dean (new)

Dean MacAllister (deanmacallister) Ok...check this out. My wife is afraid of people touching her elbows, moths landing on her eyeballs and styrofoam. My mates wife is afraid of sloths, which is weird on it's own...thats pretty specific...but she won't even watch the movie Ice Age...as it fears her.

message 80: by Lucy (new)

Lucy (vintagequeen) Interesting, I haven't heard those ones before!
