Are we going to discuss topics/give advice relating to indie publishing, or were you just thinking this would be a place to discover indie authors?
I would love to hear advice and give advice ... I don't have much advice ...I am brand new to self publishing and promotion, so any advice would be great to share here!
My book will be free on amazon tomorrow and Friday (August 30th &August 31st please check out "The Rainbow Stick Boy" for free!

Find it on my book website. http://www.stuartfish.com/wordpress

Hi Eric,
The free promote is going pretty well I got about 275 downloads for 3 days which is pretty good for my little book considering I was averaging 1 download a day for the first month and a half the book was out.
Yes you are correct about dropping the price for free promote days, you get 5 free promote days when you sign up for KDP (exclusively on amazon for 90 days) I really want to get my book out on iBooks, B&N, and maybe smashwords. Anyone have any experience with selling on anything but Amazon? I would love to hear feedback about your experiences...Thanks for the post Eric!

275 downloads seems pretty good! Hopefully, it translates to more sales after the promotion. I was really bummed that I was unable to promote my books (Not a KDP member) for free on Amazon. Does anyone know a workaround?
I started on iBooks, then added Amazon. I am now in the process of making print copies of my books through CreateSpace. B and N would be next.
Overall, sales have been much better on iBooks than Amazon -- but I have been on iBooks for many months. Anyone with suggestions on how to get noticed on Amazon?
Thanks!
Just published my very first ebook, and proud as I am, I put it on the book shelf :)

how is the process of create space going? Is it costing you anything? As for amazon...since my promotion it shows I haven't. Sold a book yet. I don't know if promo. days work ...it might really depend on whet type of book you are selling. I'm curious to know about create space because I think a children's nook might sell better as a traditional book

Thanks for putting your book on the bookshelf...I look forward to reading it!

The process for CreateSpace is going very well. It did take some work to resize my images to make them fit correctly. The process has not cost me anything more than paying $7 for each proof copy (the first one came today!)
I am very excited for all four books to be ready. It was suggested to me to print my books as a way to promote my books to libraries and schools. I think it is going to be a good move. Regardless, it is pretty cool have a book to hold in your hand.
If you are interested in how much you would make from a CreateSpace book sale, they have calculators on their site to help you with that. I chose to keep my price as low as I could at $7.99 per paperback. I still make a $1.25/book on Amazon and about $2.25/book if they by directly from a webpage they set up for me. I also have the option of buying my books for about $4 each plus shipping to sell locally too.
Let me know if you have any specific questions.
I would take a look at it. Also, take a look at iBookstore using the Book Creator App for iPad (if you have one!) It is really easy.

Thanks
Michael
