Julie Q's Room of Rouge (if you can can can)
Morning Julie,
Oh I love drama...how did the deception go? Did your character get away without harm? Did her pursuer get close to catching her? How far along are you in your story until the end?
Can you believe that summer is nearly coming to an end? When does school start up again? How is the house hunting coming along?
No construction guys this weekend. It feels so wonderful to have peace and quiet.
Have you seen the True Blood series? I just purchased the whole series of books that the TV show was based on. I hope I am not going to be disappointed. Have you read any novels by Charlaine Harris?
Wishing you a most peaceful weekend, filled with tons of time to write :]
*feeds some baby carrots to the funny-bunny*

First!
Tink, thanks for the link...I'll read it tonight!! :D
Dee! I'm so glad things are going well with the Hobbit house, and that you are back online!!
To answer your question about the story, yes, Joy escaped- but barely. The timing of the whole situation is tricky- with the time aspect. I have to think about whether or not the pursuer knows she's still on the train...then I have to stage it where he thinks she is still on the train...then...well lets just say, he makes bad things happen. (Don't worry, Joy is safe...for now!) I'll need to email you an update the next time I can piece together these parts I'm working on. :D
School starts up, for me, next Monday. The kids come back the following Monday.
Soooo, I haven't been on in quite a while because...
1) I closed on my house!! :D *Bruno and Bunny join me in a happy dance*
2) I've been packing.
3) I had an out-of-town teacher workshop.
4) I have been moving
4.5) I have been shopping for all the random crap I need for a new house.
5) I've been tired.
6) ... (my least fav. excuse) ...I haven't had much time to write.
Seriously, today has been the first real chance for me to get on the internet and return emails and what-nots.
I'm still getting my internet situation figured out at the new place too... then it'll take a week or two for them to set up the DSL. The good news though...I'm down the street from a High school if I really need to scam some wi-fi I can drive 1 min to the parking lot. (It's not illegal for me since I work in the same district!)
I've got most of the big stuff moved, and now things are beginning to slow just a tiny bit before I'm thrown back into the craziness that is the school year.
Night y'all! Sweet dreams!

Dee, I've read books 1-8 of Charlaine Harris' Sookie Stackhouse series! I was HOOKED. It was bad... I barely got out of bed for two weeks straight. I'm waiting to borrow book 9 from a friend. I've watched season one of True Blood, and anxiously awaiting season 2 to come out on DVD. I hope you are enjoying the series.
Now, I'm watching the Buffy series I borrowed from a friend...I just finished season 4. It's truly been the summer of vampires! Whoo hoo!

So, last night's words: 1,221
Whoo hoo!

Thanks for sending the link! I loved the last few chapters a lot. I think it's brilliant how Cassie and Claire have to work together.
:)

Julie, I was the same way! They are great books and I hope there will be many more to come. It's just too fun. SOmeday I'll read them in order.. someday...

Wendy, I have no doubt! OH, I just got the 9th book, Dead and Gone, from a friend! I can't wait to have a good chunk of time to read it. I'll be so sad when I'm done and have to wait months/years like all the fans who started the series earlier. *juts out lower lip in a pout*
I'm just completely slammed with getting the house put together and now getting my classroom together...I was dying to work on my story today, and am exhausted now. I'm hoping maybe I'll have a little time to myself tomorrow to revisit my story. Here's to hoping!
I hope all have a wonderful day!

For when you need a break from getting your classes ready.

Dropping a line here...been completely crazed with school-work. We are under a "new regime" this year, so the new admin are very by-the-book. Nothing wrong with that, but they want all this new paperwork, and they want it yesterday.
On a very happy note, my class is super sweet. :D
I find myself thinking about my story, and trying to plan out more in my mind, but my brain won't let me get too far. It's like my brain is saying, "don't bother planning too far ahead, you'll only forget."
So, I'm going to write a little tonight, even if it's only 50 words. So, I'm off to write! :)

I'm sure you are up to your ears in work as well! Are you able to fit in any writing time yourself? How is Firebug coming along?
:)

Happy September Writing to you too!
Oooohhh...the thunder is going crazy here, and I think there will be a huge downpour! We need it! I just wish I were at home today. I love writing with the rain hitting the windows.
Happy 9/9/09 everyone! I hope it inspires some great stories!
:D

My students had to take a writing benchmark exam today. The room was very quiet most of the day, but towards the afternoon the kids got a little more restless. What better way to keep them motivated than to model writing. So, I took a little time to write too. Then it started to pour down rain. We haven't seen rain like that in quite some time. One kid whispered, "Look! Precipitation!" The kids became quite fidgety, so we took a rain break, and stood by the window for a few minutes. The kids were glued to it like they were watching aliens landing. It was a nice little moment, and the rain made it great for writing.
So, now I have some pages of writing to type up. I'm very happy with what I was able to come up with, and am dying to incorporate the parts into my story. I feel that l am closing into the details of how the story will actually end, and that is a great feeling.
There were other aspects of today that were very difficult, but I'm deciding just to bask in the happiness of those little successes today.

Especially me. :)

It's been CRAZY! The good news is that we are starting to settle into a routine at school. The new admin. is asking for a LOT more paperwork, and many more meetings. We are "meeting-ed" to death. I just finished report cards, Parent/Teacher conferences, and we just had our big-bad-school-wide-review where the head honchos from downtown come to observe tons of classes. (It went very well, by the way)
So, with all that said. I FINALLY feel like I can breath again. I can call back the friends I haven't had a chance to call back, and catch up on all my emails, and best of all...I can write!
I'm off to get ready for bed, and to write! Night!

Holy Cow I was just breezing through some cubis' and realized that I've missed so much around here! Now that I have some more time to myself, I need to catch up on everyone's stories! I think I need some coffee time tomorrow afternoon to catch up. Pumpkin Latte, here I come!
*raises right hand in a promise to myself*
I solemnly promise to leave work before 4:00pm tomorrow, and not stay until 7:00 like I have been many evenings.
...I keep telling myself it will get better. It has to.
:)

Last nights words(most were after midnight ;)) and this morning's words: 1981
Whoo hoo! I'm back!!!!
I'm so hooked into this section that I just have to finish. I don't even want to get out of bed today....I want to write all day!
I keep saying I'll visit other cubi's, and I will...later. ;)
I'm thinking..if I can keep this momentum...maybe I can finish this story this month or next.
Hey Julie,
How goes your word count today?
I am sure that I have you on my buddy list, but can you re-post your NaNoWriMo page? Please :]
Excellent word count for the kick-off day!

Excellent word count for the kick-off day!

Yesterday's (Nov. 2nd) word count was: 946 (I need to do better than that each day if I plan to make it!)
I tried to write more, but I've been so tired since I got this stupid sinus infection. I can't be my night-owl self as much when I'm sick. BOOO!
I just added my total to my NaNo site too! Speaking of my NaNo site, here's the link:
http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/user/539974
Add me as a buddy!
Here's to more words today!
Thanks Julie,
I can't believe that I didn't have you on my buddy list already. Thanks for posting your NaNoWriMo homepage...we are now both buddies.
One of the silly things about the NaNoWriMo site is that they only display 11 buddies (and you cannot pick which buddies they are displaying).
Excellent word count by the way :]

Yesterday's words (Nov 3rd): 1,012 (i still need to add to the NaNo site. It's not enough to meet the daily quota, but at least it's over 1,000...that's what I'm shooting for for the weekdays, I'll have to play catch up this weekend, and try to get ahead on holidays!
I'm having fun so far, and my brain is back into writing mode. I find myself wondering how my characters would handle random daily situations.
Still have some work to do before I can work on today's quota. Here's to at least 1,000 words!
:D

Today's words for Wed, Nov. 4th: 1,721 words
Personally, I'm quite shocked. I really broke through a wall today, and also had a major breakthrough in my story line as well.
What a satisfying feeling! I will sleep very well tonight, and it's not even midnight yet!
...Now if I can just keep this awesome momentum!
:)

I found that momentum works amazingly well for me as well... when I have it, I keep it. But once I let it slide... it's gone, and I have to work twice as hard to get back to where I was. :)

I totally hear you with the momentum! I took a momentum hit this week. Thursday I didn't get a chance to write, since I worked, and then sold photos at the monthly fair. Then Friday, I went to my old high school's homecoming game, just for old time's sake, then began to feel sick when I got home. Then today, I was sick all day with a mean little stomach bug. I slept ALL day.
Luckily I feel better now, but am way behind on words. I woke up about 8:30pm, ate some soup, and felt better enough to write some.
All that to say: Saturday's words: 2,182 words
I think I'll see if I can sleep, after sleeping all day, I may not be able to. If I can't sleep, I'll write some more. Here's to feeling better!

So...down to the nitty gritty...I've set a new personal record...Drumroll please...
Sunday, Nov. 8th's words: 5,736
I kid you not, and I'm not making that up either. No fudging or rounding.
That brings me to 7,918 for the weekend, and 13,578 for my NaNo count. So, as of right now, I'm on track for NaNo.
As for my story, I'd say I'm easily 3/4 of the way through or even a bit further along that that even. I know when I get to all the big climactic stuff at the end, it'll probably be longer than I expect. I'm approaching that point in the story very rapidly, and will probably begin those scenes sometime soon. I can't believe I may actually finish my story sometime in 2009!!! EEEK! I'm getting excited just thinking about it!!

Monday's words: 6
Tuesday's words: 434
Wednesday's words: TBD
Work is REALLY getting in the way this week! GRRRR!
I have a little more grading to do tonight before I can dive back into my alternate universe. *sigh*

I hope you have a terrific writing day!

Yay! Thanks for dropping in! I've missed everyone since I was MIA for work for a while. It's good to be back, even in a limited capacity. I've missed visiting your cubi!! I'll pop by!
I hope all your writing is going well! I bet you can breath a little easier now that the harvest is done...it is done, right? Are you doing NaNo too?
Thanks again! I hope you have a wonderful Friday!
:D

I sure hope I can catch up this weekend... :-/
I have faith that I can! I was able to crank out nearly 8,000 words last weekend, I'm hoping I can do that again this weekend.
I hit a wall last night in my writing, so I did what I do best, jump the wall, so I can come back to that troublesome part later. It's kinda a fluffy part anyway.
Here's to a great Friday y'all!

And no, I'm not doing Nano.. I'm happy to be puttering around putting the farm away for winter and finding my house. (I know I left it around here somewhere)
I've started peeking at my writing, but most of what I've been doing has been for the Menagere-20 over in On Fiction Writing.

Yeah, you have a some big tasks to accomplish before you have any time of your own.
Hey, I checked out the On Fiction Writing group and the Menagere-20 page. That looks like a lot of fun! I can't wait until the piece is published so I can read all the wonderful stories! :D
Well Folks,
This weekend has been very busy with a housewarming party last night, and a triple birthday party at a winery tonight. I haven't even touched my grading, and I was hoping to get progress reports out this week.
Friday's words: 381
Saturday's words: 0
Sunday's words: TBD
I'm starting to freak out....I just need to breath, and think happy thoughts.
It will be ok!

Thanks for the cookie! *devours it cookie-monster-style* You are an awesome lady!
So it's been a busy time, but I've been managing little by little!
Sunday's words: 1,079
Monday's words: 0
Tuesday's words: TBD
My NaNo count so far is 16,958... more than I thought I'd be able to do in two weeks time, but I still have so far to go!

It's been a looongg weekend. I had a friend in town this weekend, and of course New Moon was released, so there was lots of fun to be had. I also had to do lots of preparations for my friend visiting, which was fine, that's why I took Friday off. On top of that, since I have my house now, my parents wanted me to pick up more of my crap that had been at their house forever, AND I had sod delivered for my back yard. I kept asking myself..."WHY is all this happening in NOVEMBER!?" So, I got very little writing done, but here are the numbers for the little I did write.
last Tuesday 272
last Wednesday: 184
Monday (last night): 219
Tuesday (tonight): TBD
That brings my NaNo count up to 17,633. At least it's something! I'll be writing my fingers off this weekend! I've gotta catch up!

Thanks, I'm feeling so much better now that most of my stressors are gone...for now! ;) I'm looking forward to a writing day! I think I'll even go to one of the local events this morning! A friend an I want to have our own write-in as soon as she gets off work today! Here's yesterday's word count:
Last nights words: 726
Today count (so far): 293 (I'll be adding to that soon!!)
Here's to a happy writing day, and a wonderful day before Thanksgiving!

So, I did get myself in gear a bit yesterday. I didn't get as far as I would have liked, but if I can keep up the momentum, I think I may have a chance of reaching 50k.
Wednesday's words: 3,636
this brings my NaNo total up to 21,995... at Ieast I broke 20k...My goal today is to break 25k...or higher!
I better get crackin' if I'm going to do that! OK, I'll give myself an hour of writing before I get ready to go see my family.
Ready, set, write!

I'm thankful for momentum, and hope for some more quiet time to write today!
Happy Turkey Day!
:D

Yay! My problem is the segment I'm writing...it's a chase scene, and it's really testing my creativity. I shouldn't say chase, it's more that my main character is being followed. I had to decide whether the pursuer would know that she's onto him or not. I decided that she's going to play it cool, and try to outwit him that way. He won't know the she knows he's following him.
It's not the BIG showdown, so I know she gets away. I have yet to decide just how close he's going to get to catching her. Hmmm things to ponder while I sleep.
Speaking of...it's late y'all. Night!
