:D Sounds like you've been busy!

message 352: by Julie (new)

Julie | 465 comments Hi Annie Mae,

Yes, it's been a very busy summer so far! I always wonder why I don't teach summer school- then summer begins, and I remember why! I'm too busy doing all kinds of random things!

Have you been having a good summer so far?

message 353: by [deleted user] (new)

lol!
yeah, actually I have. Nice and relaxing, and all this rain has really brought summer on with a bang! Just last week it finally started to hit the 70-80's.

message 354: by Julie (new)

Julie | 465 comments Nice!!

70's-80's!? Holy cow!! It's been in the low 100's here! Well, until today. We had some rain, FINALLY, and that cooled things off a bit. (...and made for some nice, stormy writing weather!)

Send some of your nice weather down my way, PLEASE!

message 355: by [deleted user] (new)

lol It hasn't been this cool in June here for 10 years, it's usually near 90's by now.

message 356: by Julie (new)

Julie | 465 comments Wow, that's still great! Enjoy the cool weather!

YAY! GOOD WORK!

message 359: by Julie (new)

Julie | 465 comments Thanks Tink!

I am proud to say that I'm back on the writing wagon, and it feels great! I will say, it was hard to get back on. Now that I'm back, my characters are running amuck through my head, as they should be!

Todays words: 2,196

Unfortunately, I now have to go run errands, but I can't wait to rejoin my characters soon!

message 360: by Julie (new)

Julie | 465 comments So, I haven't gotten as much written as I would like, but I did get some time in!

Today's words: 487

Now, I'm off to run errands, and then to sell photos down at the First Thursday Fair. I'm hoping to get back to writing today soon, as I was on a roll, and wasn't ready to stop. Grrr...

I need to figure out a total word count....that's next on my agenda!

*There is a slight scratching on the door. I open it to see who is outside*

it's BUNNY! Yay, I'm so glad you have returned. *picks up Bunny, and gives him a strangling hug!* I know I'll be able to write more with you around! Now, I need some photo-muse inspiration since I have all these photos to process! Speaking of, have you seen Bruno anywhere?

message 361: by Daisy (new)

Daisy | 1803 comments *leaves note in large box with a finger print lock, so if Paul comes to visit he can't read it. In the box there is a bar of chocolate too*

Hey guys,

I'm really bored and I wondered what would happen if I left a baby at Paul's place. So that's what I'm going to do! It's a robot but a very sophisticated robot that with the help of magic can do all that a human baby can do as well as grow up. I haven't created multiples for fear of a Rozen Maiden reaction. Which has happened before when multiple dolls have been created with magic. My great great grandmother made multiples of these dolls and they will kill anything and anyone denying the dolls of attention from there orderer.

No people were harmed in the making of this letter

LOL I know the feeling... I started shouting"NO"! in the middle of a conversation because Cassie had just filled me in on what happens next in her sequel... And my friend gave me a very odd look.

message 363: by [deleted user] (new)

lol

message 364: by Daisy (new)

Daisy | 1803 comments lol one time I got an idea and IO was like "I need a pencil and paper now!" and I was really mean until I got my pencil and paper and then I sat on my friend's bed and just sat there like a contented five year old writing out my idea

message 365: by Julie (new)

Julie | 465 comments Ha! Tink, I can just imagine the conversation, and the friend looking confused! I know I've zoned out in conversations, thinking about my story, and then being embarrassed when I had to ask what the person had been talking about. I felt so bad!

GreenDaisy, I've done that too! Usually that happens to me in the mornings when it does. I'm lucky to have a "note pad" feature on my phone. I'll grab that when I don't have the real thing. Then my friends think I'm texting all the time.

LOL She's kind of been avoiding me since.... maybe she thinks I'm insane... oh well. :)

Oh, I've done that too... or I'll get an idea in the middle of Math, and the teacher will call on me, and I'll say, "I'm sorry, what?" because I was totally zoning out.

message 368: by Julie (last edited Jul 05, 2009 03:22PM) (new)

Julie | 465 comments Happy 4th!

(It's technically the 5th here now, but who's counting anyway!)

Today's words: 1,228

I'm surprised I got any writing in today, with all the excitement of the 4th, and the BBQ I attended. Though, my characters demanded some time with me!

I will say, this segment is a bit tedious, since I'm still revealing "rules," and my main character is learning more about her abilities. The two mains are getting closer, increasing the tension between them. That part is kinda fun! ;)

It's hard because I'm imagining different reactions, and different dialogue, working it through my mind to get the most natural effect. It's draining.

I'll sleep very well tonight... I'm hoping for some related dreams to help me continue from here!

Off to read some, then off to bed. Night!

message 369: by Julie (new)

Julie | 465 comments So, I did a total count...and it's not as far long as I would have hoped.

41,820 words give or take a few for some parts I was going to exclude.

Ok, it's time for some new goals. I need to start cranking out no less than 1,500 per day. (Ideally: 2000+ words) I just have to finish before summer ends!

New mantra: Stop Agonizing... just write!

Ok, now I'm off to bed!

message 370: by [deleted user] (new)

Awesome word Count Julie! Keep it up!

message 371: by Julie (new)

Julie | 465 comments Thanks Cali!

Whew, another emotional writing day - for my characters that is. I'm drained!

Today's words: 2,175
Goal: exceeded!

There's nothing like watching a testosterone laden movie like transformers to help you reach your fluffy-emotional side for a heavy writing jam session. It's like chocolate covered pretzels -- salty and sweet!

I will say, I enjoyed Transformers II for what it was. I was disappointed by the plot and the frequent crude references to male anatomy. I just thought there should have been enough material for them to work with so that they wouldn't have to stoop to that. It was action packed, and I enjoyed that part of it for sure!

message 372: by [deleted user] (new)

I agree with everything you just said Julie. I hated the crude parts, but overrall, it was a good movie!
It gave me ideas also :D

message 373: by Julie (new)

Julie | 465 comments Yay Cali, I'm glad the movie helped your creative process too!
:D

message 374: by Julie (new)

Julie | 465 comments It is a sad sad day.

Bob, my favorite witch doctor went missing in the line of duty. He had been defending Uniquely Moi's property from evil spirits while she was on vacation.

No one has seen or heard from him since this morning. An enormous plant is the suspected culprit. Since Horace the plant is incapable of language Bob's whereabouts have been lost forever.

We will remember him always. Rest in peace dear Bob.

Clears off writing desk and lights candles in place of laptop. Places a portrait of bob at the center of the desk and lights incense. Finds CD of Ave Maria and other hymns sung by a children's choir and plays it lightly in the background. Lights are dimmed. A lone rose, NOT taken from Uniquely's garden may I add, is placed under the portrait.

message 375: by Renee (new)

Renee (rjmiller) I will miss Bob, he was an interesting man. I don't think i ever understood a thing he said, but I liked him anyway.
Horace misses him too. He tries to be good, and I know he liked Bob far too much to eat him. Perhaps he was already gone before Horace got to him. Perhaps another more evil being, was at UM's and got to him first. I don't know, I'm just saying...

By the way Julie, awesome word counts. High five!!

message 376: by Julie (new)

Julie | 465 comments Renee, thanks for dropping by. I know Bob is smiling down at us from above.

Yeah, come to think of it, I never understood what he said either. Then again, that added to his charm. (He was easier to ignore.) **sigh** He will be missed.

Yes, Horace may be off the hook if indeed it was Artie who did poor Bob in. It could have been a team effort as well... the world will never know.

High five back at ya'! It feels good to be back in the writing groove after my long hiatus.

message 377: by Daisy (new)

Daisy | 1803 comments BYE BYE BOB!!!!!

message 378: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm sorry Bob has disappeared. I will miss you!

message 379: by Julie (new)

Julie | 465 comments Green Daisy and Anne Mae -Cali,

Thanks for paying your respects to Bob. I'm sure he's smiling down tonight.

He will be missed.

message 380: by Julie (last edited Jul 07, 2009 12:00AM) (new)

Julie | 465 comments Today's words: 1,611
Goal: met, but barely.

I truly didn't think I'd make it today, my mind was too focused on other things. I was tempted to get into some editing, but thought better of it, lest I be drawn away from the segment I really need to finish.

Meet daily word count first, edit later!

message 381: by Renee (new)

Renee (rjmiller) That's what I keep telling myself too Julie, and then I think of all those pages that need to be cut and shredded apart and I drift over to them. Then I say, 'no Renee, you must write your words.' Then someone or something poops and I have to stop anyway.

message 382: by Wendy (new)

Wendy (wendyswore) I had no internet on the day of your memorial, but I brought this sixpack for the service in his honor. What's that? they're empty? Yes I know- but he doesn't eat much anyway right? so it's no real loss.

So here's to you bob, may you dance in a better place.

message 383: by Renee (new)

Renee (rjmiller) That's nice Wendy. You might have save one for the rest of us, but we appreciate the thought just the same.

message 384: by Julie (new)

Julie | 465 comments Renee,
it's good to know I'm not the only afflicted by the draw to edit when one just needs to write! Yes, the pooping creatures do get in the way. My hat is off to all the moms out there writing!

Wendy,
The memorial is ongoing for the rest of the day, you didn't miss it! That's so sweet of you to think of Bob with a six pack, he would have liked that.

Next time fill a couple of those bottles with some crazy kool-aid for the mourners. ;) We'll remember you Bob!

:D

Replaces burnt out candles, and changes the cd of hymns to 80's hip hop

Bob did like to dance!

message 385: by Renee (new)

Renee (rjmiller) I'll go get the kool-aid, although here in Tweed we call it Killer Kool-Aid, but I'm sure it has the same effect

message 386: by Julie (new)

Julie | 465 comments Oh, I knew there was some alliteration with the name of that Kool-Aid, I just picked the wrong word! Killer Kool-aid it is!

I'm wondering if it's similar to "Trash-Can Punch?" I remember that from college, it pretty much is kool-aid, and whatever the college kids can get their hands on mixed together in a large, clean, new thrash can.

message 387: by Julie (new)

Julie | 465 comments Ok, so I've been very bad. I've been "dead to the world" (4th book -- I AM in the middle of) since I've been sucked into (pun intended) the Sookie Stackhouse series. Sigh...It's good summer reading...bad for my daily word quota.

7/8/09 words: 679
Goal: half-way

7/9/09 words: 0
Goal: not even close

So, if I'm going to make up for the deficit I need to write *computational sounds fill the air- I'm thinking of the ones from "The Price is Right."*

...I need to write 3,821 today...

Well, I better get crackin'!

message 388: by Renee (new)

Renee (rjmiller) You can manage that, I've seen your word counts. I did 3400 this morning. THat was before anyone was up, at like 4:30 while Paul and Andy distracted me. Man, if I had all day, think of the beautiful horror i could create.

message 389: by Wendy (new)

Wendy (wendyswore) Ha ha! I loved the sookie books. I thought they were great fun. I'm glad you like them. Some day when I'm not dirt poor, I'm gunna buy the series so I can read that in order. Borrowing from the library you gotta take what you can get, so I read it like: #7,#5, #8,#9,#6, #4, #2, #3, #1. In other words, I couldn't tell you the cronological order of any of it since I don't think it is possible to read them any more out of order than I did.

Someday...sigh.

message 390: by Paige (new)

Paige Miller | 4362 comments LOL I know the feeling... That happens to me a lot. Stupid Library. *pouts*

message 391: by Julie (new)

Julie | 465 comments Wendy,

I've had to do that with series before! I will say, I think she Charlaine Harris does a good job of summing up any pertinent backstories in each book. I'm lucky to read it in order because a friend has the whole set, and I've been borrowing 2 at a time. I'm on book 7...almost done too! :D

So, instead of writing, i've been reading... I'm so bad!

I did write a short story and submitted it to Paige/Tinks short story writing group. That one was about 1,300 words.
