Julie | 465 comments Ok, unfortunately, I didn't get at much written yesterday either. I think I've finally come to terms with the fact that I won't make 50k. It's ok, it was quite a large undertaking during a very busy month so, the fact that I've gotten this far is pretty good for me. *sigh*

Friday's words: 629

NaNo Total so far: 25,024

I may be behind, but I'm not throwing in the towel! I'll still be adding to my word counts. Just so you know, If I still wanted to make it, I'd need 8,334 words each day. That would be today, tomorrow, and Monday. Realistically, I know that won't happen, but I'm still going to write anyway. I mainly just want to finish this story!

And I'm off to write!

Julie | 465 comments Hey, I got a lot written, but it still won't be enough. I think if I can get over 30k, that will be just fine, and everything else is gravy. 30k, from this point, if definitely within reach.

Saturday's words: 4,624

NaNo total: 29,648

Here's to a happy sunday and I hope everyone gets the rest you need, or in my case the gets the chores you need done completed before the beginning of a new week.

Ok, I have 2 days left of NaNo...let's see the damage I can make!

Hey Julie,

You are doing a great job with NaNo.

Especially with your work load. I am very impressed. The best thing about doing NaNo is that it gets you writing :]

Go make some more damage ;]

Julie | 465 comments Hi Dee!

Thanks for the encouraging words! Yes, NaNo did get me back into a routine of writing, and my story is SO close to being finished. Finishing the story was my ultimate goal for NaNo anyway.

Here are the last couple of word counts:
Sunday: 107 words

Monday:430 words

Total for NaNo: 30,185

It's officially December 1st, and NaNo is over. I'd like to take a moment to reflect on what I've learned.
*I WILL start a new piece of writing when I do NaNo again next year. Trying to finish a current piece is too taxing when you are trying to meet word minimums.
*Try to cut a few more social events if possible, and try to get ahead on grading for before November.
*I can write an average of 1,000 words a day for a month, and not go completely insane...a little insane is ok, and fairly normal in my opinion. ;)

It is a relief for it to be over, I'd like to read a little, and catch up on a couple of TV shows. :D

My new goals for December:
*finish my story
*Edit a good chunk or all of the story

I better be off to bed! Night all! Have sweet and restful conclusion of NaNo dreams!

Julie | 465 comments Good evening!

So I took a day off from writing, but got back into it today. The kiddos had another writing benchmark test so in the interest of showing solidarity I just had to write too. I was able to knock out some more words.

Wednesday's words: 1038

Whoo hoo!

The kids were so dramatic today! Some of them love writing, and others... not so much. This one little boy really worked himself up, he was throwing a silent crying tantrum, which is very unusual for 4th graders by the way, and would tune it up a notch when he thought I was looking. I sat nearby so that he could see I was writing too. (They did seem to get a kick out of their teacher writing a story too.) I did what I did best, reminded him of the task, and let him cry it out until he realized that I wasn't going to let him get out of it or do it for him. He cried for about 20 minutes or so, then it was time for lunch. He came back from lunch feeling much better, and began writing without having to be told. The funny part was that after lunch he started encouraging others with, "Don't forget your story web." Looking over what he wrote, it wasn't half bad either.

I'm off to bed! Night!

Taking a day or two off from writing can be a good thing. It charges your imagination :]

Outstanding word counts. I am very proud of you and look forward to your finished story.

Even better than your word count, is that you have encouraged at least one young writer to keep to it! That is the best gift you could ever give anyone :]

Wishing you a most wonderful weekend.

Julie | 465 comments Thanks Dee!

I have had a lovely, and somewhat relaxing weekend. I hope yours was too!

Thanks again, for all your encouragement. I can't wait to send you a finished copy! :) It's wonderful to have you to encourage all of us out here trying our hand at writing. We are so lucky and blessed to have you here.

Thank you, as always, for spreading your cheer, and for nurturing all of us fledgling writers.

Wendy (wendyswore) Hey Julie! if you like tales with a hook, here is 30 fun/scary/romantic/thought-provoking stories that are perfect for you.

http://www.menage-a-20.com/

My 2 shorts are called "Letting Go" and "The Foundation" and you can find them towards the back of the book. All of us helped with the 30th tale as a great big joint writing project, and all of our pictures can be seen on the author's cover art link.

You might recognise a few of the other authors as well: our very own Renee, Gwen, Paul, Rita, Henry..
