A bit late, but just finished Letters from Zedelghem yesterday.

* When I got to the end, I was all, What? Tapos na? And then of course, I'm sure there's more later, so I'm not going to ask why.
* I liked how it was written. I never got to Belgium when I was in Europe, but the description of the places reminded me of my trip to Switzerland for some reason.
* Also, after reading the spoiler posts, I did not even see the lovers thing between RF and RS. Haha, hindi ko nasense!
* In a way, I'm quite glad that Sixsmith is in the next chapter/story, although it is years later. Nakakita ako ng closer continuity, even if Adam Ewing was there in Zedelghem. But again, I am not going to ask questions, because at least I can see some kind of connections. Haha.

A little into the next story na. :) The sudden jumps in time can be a bit jarring, but I like how it feels connected and different at the same time. :)

3 ‘Half-Lives: The First Luisa Rey Mystery’ (Action-Thriller)

The setting is 1970’s California. Picture this: afro-haired people wearing floor sweeping pants and psychedelic tops. Done? Good!

Our intrepid journalist is Luisa Rey, daughter to an ex-cop/ journalist/ war hero father and philanthropist mother. She discovered that the local power plant is not safe as it claimed, through a scientist named Rufus Sixsmith. Yup, the long-distanced correspondent/ lover/ friend of our previous star, Robert Frobisher. Luisa is not only interested in getting the actual report from Sixsmith as proof, but she’s also most interested in RF's letters Sixsmith treasure all this years.

Since the day Sixsmith dismissed himself from Seaboard Corp., a chain of events rippled. And now Luisa Rey’s life is in danger.

I finished the third story last night while on the train to Pedro Gil (Hi Angus, Monique, Ingrid!), and I have to say it's my favorite so far. :D I pretty much love everything about it -- (view spoiler)[the mystery, the snooping journalist, the big ominous company who is set to kill anyone who stands in their way... (hide spoiler)] it reminded me of those books I liked to read when I was in college. :D

So I guess it's safe to watch the trailer now? haha or not. But I will take a peek! :D Never mind, I stopped somewhere 1/3 into the trailer where may line na sinabi pos feel ko spoilery so nope. I will watch all trailers after I'm done reading. :D

4 The Ghastly Ordeal of Timothy Cavendish (Modern Comedy)

Timothy Cavendish was so full of himself. The most selfish and unreliable narrator, but I enjoyed him, really (LOL). This memoir took place about six years ago. How much in his narration was accurate or theatrics, only he knows. Sometimes he can be very sincere, mostly arrogant, but all the while funny. His escape from the city to Cambridge was really traumatic. But who knew it was just the beginning of his ghastly ordeal.

Hi guys, have you come across the Cloud Atlas Sextet?

Spent the fortnight gone in the music room reworking my year's fragments into a 'sextet for overlapping soloists': piano, clarinet, 'cello, flute, oboe, and violin, each in its own language of key, scale, and color. In the first set, each solo is interrupted by its successor; in the second, each interruption is recontinued, in order. Revolutionary or gimmicky? Shan't know until it's finished, and by then it'll be too late.

I am convinced that each part of the novel is represented by the underlined instruments (it is evident in the novel's structure). I was wondering how you would assign the instruments to each part?
