Book 2 - Tempting the Player

Hey y'all. I just finished this on Friday. It was good, BUT... I have a huge problem with it. Miss Gore is a horrid, awful person. The stuff she said to Bridget was truly heinous. She threatened her financial security, destroyed her self-esteem (which was already in the crapper), implied that she would destroy her credibility. I kept waiting, and waiting....and WAITING for Miss Gore to get her commupance. And, it never came. Not only did she not get what should've been coming to her (fired? humiliated? at the very least, yelled at forcefully?!), it seemed that, at the end, Chad and Bridget actually wanted to THANK her! Just because the ending was sweet and all turned out ok doesn't excuse that horrible scene in Bridget's apartment between she and Miss Gore. And, I'm honestly really disappointed that this was completely glossed over.

Not only that, but I gathered (and had confirmed by checking out this thread) that the third book will focus on a relationship between Chandler and the villainous Miss Gore. For some reason, this bothers me. A lot.

Didn't this bother anyone else? At all??

Krista, it didn't really bother me at all. Every book needs a villian and Yes book 3 will be able Miss Gore and Chandler but I really think we'll learn more about her in book 3 that may explain why she acted like that. I trust Jen and know she never glosses something over if it's not without reason.

Btw when I first started reading your comment I was like that Krista for saying I"m a horrid, awful person, I <3 you too LOL

I don't know - I finished this two days ago, and it's still bugging me. I agree that every book needs a villain. And, one of the greatest things in a book is when the villain gets what's coming to him/her. It's inherently fulfilling and seems to make everything come full circle. Like, this nasty stuff was done, but love persevered and together they put the smack-down on the big bad and now all is right with the world. And, I sooooooo didn't get that here. It feels like this huge loose end hanging out there.

And, since Miss Gore will be the love interest in book #3, I really don't think that the aforementioned smack-down will happen then. Do you? I mean, Chad and Bridget have found their happily ever after - going back for a rehash at that point will seem really out of place. I think we're just supposed to pretend that it never happened - or that we were blinded by love.

And, trust me, I feel badly that I'm this unsettled because you know how much I love JLA. I'm just thinking that perhaps I need to stick with Lux and Covenant.

(Because, honestly, there was a loose end in Tempting the Best Man that bugged me too, although not nearly as much as this one. (view spoiler)[ Anna and Chase never cleared up the whole room swap thing at the end. You know - when she was upset because she thought he left and then he was upset because he thought she left? I really wanted them to talk about that and clear the air, and that never happened. Bummer. (hide spoiler)]

Oh yeah I know you love JLA. And you can't only stick with Lux and Covenant what about when they are both over? Maybe stick to her YA?

I think Chandler knows how she treated Chase and Bridget so maybe he'll give her her comeupance?? Idk

Sooooooo........is it just me that thinks Armentrout must get the best sex in the world! I mean JEEZ my husband is pretty freakin awesome but if Chad was real i would totally become a stalker in the snap of a finger!!! And (hang my head in shame) most likely would have loved to be on his list of one night stands!!!!! Hahaha

yeah i sometimes think that lol!!! i mean all her scenes even the YA are totally hot! i think the 'laptop scene' was probably one of the sexiest YA makeout scenes i have read so jla must know what she's writing about ;) and no need to hang head in shame i would love any time with Chad :D!
