The first book was great as it had a plot hiding beneath Greg's daily entries. Subsequent books seemed less inspired by following the same formula. The Last Straw was just a compilation of funny anecdotes that were so disconnected, FOX skipped over it to make Dog Days instead.

The book is alright but it is a bit old and the attention is given
to the newer books in the series.
