How to get notifications for things you actually want them for.

Are you tired of getting notifications for your groups other topics, but don't get notifications for things you want to know about? Do you feel bad when you don't respond to a thread for a long time because you didn't get a notification? Well I know the way! Just follow these simple steps and you'll have no problem.

1. In your group, go to the "edit" next to "You are a member" and click on it. Scroll to the bottom where it says "edit group discussion updates." Click on it.

2. You will now have a page that says "All topics within group." You want to click on "none."

3. Now the hard part: for the topics you actually want to get notified, you'll have to go through them manually. Above the comment box there will be "email me when people comment." Click on it.

4. Now go to the bottom of the comment box. "email me when people reply" just went grey. Beside it is "edit" click on it.

5. Now you have a pop up screen showing the different ways you can follow the thread. Click on "Notification only."

6. Do this for every topic in every group that you want notifications for. You will now only get notifications for those topics.

After you have done this, you can further control emails by doing the following:

1. Click on the arrow next to your picture and click on "edit profile."

2. Click on the email tab.

3. Edit "Mail from Friends", "Event Notifications", "Comment Notifications", and "Newsletters and Other Mail". You have already edited "Group email preferences"*, so please don't mess with that.

*Couldn't group email preferences helped? Somewhat because you can do steps 1 and 2 from there. But you still have to go through your topics and choose which you would like notifications for.
