First vs Third POV

I hate that the books are written in the view of Katniss. The story wouldn't be so limited and incomplete if told from an outside author. What do you think?

No, I think Katniss' point of view is fine. I still understand what is going on even though it is a little more biased.

I love first person. It's make the story more intense and faster paced.

I know it makes it faster paced, but to sacrifice length for quality is foolish.

I like first person because you get to know the narrator way better.

First person focused on Katniss worked fine for #1 and #2 but in Mockingjay it would have been better to open up the story a bit. Chapters from Peeta's point of view, chapters from Coin's point of view (so we can understand her better as a villain), and maybe some from others.

Faster paced doesn't necessarily make a shorter book. And just because it's third person, doesn't make it 'quality'

Actually a third person view does bring in quality. It brings more depth, more views, more actions, and more clarity. Maybe the issue is I typically read books over 1000 pages long. The stories are filled with depth, perception, and details. Not books crammed into 390 pages, probably for audiences with short attention spans or authors who think longer books won't sell as much.

The point of the book is to show Katniss' view of things. But I'm just saying it could be of been longer and better.

For instance when poor Gale is getting his wounds healed, who doesn't wonder what Snow is doing? What Peeta is doing and thinking three house down? More subplots would of been nice. I would of enjoyed a longer story.

Well, that's a matter if opinion really, about first versus third person.
I don't read for depth or moral fulfillment. I read for entertainment and an escape from reality, so I prefer short books, and also first person because I find it more exciting and faster. Which is why I read. So it's purely a matter of opinion.
And I'm guessing you are older than the average demographic of the hunger games.

You make good points about other peoples reactions, but since I live life in first person, its logical for me to read it too.
But some people prefer third person, which is fine.

I really don't mind either of the two :3 For me, I usually find entertainment in both perspectives. Hey, I might be a picky eater, but I'm not picky with writing.
