What do you as a reader get, out of reading a Sci-Fi and Heroic Fantasy Book?

Well, because I also love history and Greek mythology, I am fairly partial to those sf books that raise import questions and scenarios regarding issues that mankind faces currently or endlessly. I like books that challenge a person's values, interests, ideologies, etc.; that make the reader view the world or a topic in a new way, or even convert it. Authors that can create a eloquent world and narrative that successfully accomplishes this is to me a consummate artist and thus one up in my book.
