A Game of Thrones
Who are you looking forward to seeing in the new series of the HBO show?

Thoros of Myr
Meera and Jojen Reed
Olenna Redwyne Tyrell (She's one tough old lady you wouldn't want to mess with)
I prefer to read about characters before seeing them on the screen. That way I can develop my own interpretation based on the author's intent without it being tainted by an actor's or director's interpretation.

In some cases I agree with you; like in Harry Potter for example, where a lot of the characters greatly differ from the actors they chose. I don't feel that way about SoI&F, though. Tyrion, for example, is probably a lot more handsome in the show than in the book, but I honestly don't think that the witty, sniping dialogue would have come across as well if he was hideous. When reading the book, our minds probably don't allow us to picture him as hideous as the author intends.

Admittedly she is physically all wrong for the Queen of Thorns -- but she is a wonderful actress, a presence that will be a great counterfoil to Cersei.

Well, They've aged everyone else in the show, it makes sense that they would age Mance.

You could have just said, "most of them"!

I hope they cast Hank Azaria.

A bald Jaime, without a hand comes second. Not a new character but I just can't picture Nicolaj Coster Waldau looking that way :D
Jojen and Meera. I don't know how they plan on introducing them now. The second season drifted far too away from the books.

They changed Asha to Yara, brought in a new character Talisa in place of Jeyne but LOCKE??? Who comes up with names so lame?

( fingers crossed)

I kinda want to see Daario...is he in Storm of Swords is that the next book?? They all sorta run together in my world.
I'd also really like to see some Podrick Payne. I dont remember him in the other two seasons really...
Mostly looking forward to Brienne and Jaime though. I've developed a sick sort of love for the Kingslayer....His character development is top notch writing IMO.
Plus more Arya...I cant wait to see how they depict her character change. Especially after the Red Wedding.

I agree. Jaime Lannister came from nowhere to my top 3 characters in the series. Excellent character development. I actually find him more interesting than The Imp now.

I agree with all of the above :)

Yes. I completely agree with you. At first I really disliked Jaime, and thought he was kind of sick for his relationship with Cersei. But when I finally got put in his POV. Holy shit. That character just burst out of the book and into life. And I love Tyrion, but yah. I'm always waiting for Jaime's narration. Just the way his character thinks and describes things.
Sadly I feel like I identify with his character so well. (Minus the sibling lovin)
He's like the bad guy in everyones eyes, but if he hadnt done some of that bad stuff people could be worse off.

Yes. I complete..."
So do I. I even put my middle name on Facebook as "Kingslayer" for quite some time :D
The irony Jaime faces is that the most honorable or let's say the best thing he may have ever done (killing the mad king) is what caused everyone to brand him as dishonorable. I think he realizes what type of world they all live in and is just disinterested in everything else but fighting, which is when he feels truly alive.
I actually have a lot of respect for Jaime and hope Lady Stoneheart doesn't get to him :D

Since I dont really care for Stoneheart, I'll be intensely annoyed if she kills Jaime. Especially since he's becoming such an interesting character.

Even if a lot of great characters die. I'm looking forward to that scene with Arya and the Hound. :) :) :)
And Yah, I agree I'll be interested in their portrayal of Stoneheart...even Dondarion. I'm fairly certain something similar is going to eventually happen to John Snow...but...thats a discussion for another thread. LOL

And watching Jaimie and Brienne will be very rewarding.

Seriously? :O Well your bad luck :D
Or maybe it was the Night's Watch and they don't allow women :D

Later I heard that they really had shot some scenes in Iceland at the time...
The place was really deserted (except for a film crew), even for Iceland. Nothing but bare hills. I saw men in leather clothes with some swords. Not much snow so I do not think it was the Night's Watch. ;) I really hope it was not what I am afraid of. I mean Iceland is a very unique place, many film makers choose it for their sets.
I am a silly person.

yes yes yes. I would have totally forgotten to mention Jamie but hell, yes.
And like everyone else, Beric Dondarrion, Mance Ryder and Oberyn Martell.

I'm hoping that HBO can portray his build as well as Martin did in his writing. I have been rewatching the first season and man, you really hate his ass in the first season and book. It will be such a surprise for people who havent read what happens I think!!

In the first season, he had a memorable scene with his father, while Tywin is skinning the stag and Jaime reads the letter. And he admits he didn't kill Ned because there would be no honor in that. You can see that in some way, like Tyrion, he tries living upto his father's expectations too.

Well, atleast you got a glimpse so good for you :) I live so far away it's really impossible for me.
And your English is great, why think otherwise? :D

Secondary question: do you like having a visual reference for characters you've only read about? Personally, I really like having seen the person and THEN reading about them.
