Linda B.D. (lindabd) | 25 comments I have 2, well really 3 new books to read. first, "His Sombre Rivals" by Roe, dated 1883.("A strong story. A study of love and of war; a tale of army service during the Rebellion, and of the home life- Philadelphia Inquirer. the next is,"The Claybornes:A Romance of the Civil War", by Sage, date 1902. Last book to read is, The Jubilee Trail" by Brisow dated 1950, a non-fiction (true) retelling of the history and people behind the California Gold rush. About romance & hard times. don't they sound great? Will let you know what I rate them!!!

Those certinally are "older" books! Written in 1883?
I have heard of The Jubilee Trail..let us know what you think when you finished reading them Linda, and how it was reading that style of writing from those dates/year that they were written.

Linda B.D. (lindabd) | 25 comments A Border Shepherdess - A Romance of Eskdale.A very hard read! It's never been on Goodreads so I tried to add it. Hope I did it right. You can also look at my read books under "old reprints" & see it there.Read my review- the book almost killed my brain! And yes, it's that old! I did find out some good news. The book, "His Sombre Rivals" can be read online for free. I contacted my local library & they sent me a link for itfrom the library. It’s about the Battle of Bull Run with romance. The text is available online for free—it’s a lot easier to read, and you can change the text size or print it out. copy & paaaaaaaaste this link to your browser & see if it comes up . I haven't done that yet.
