I'm not sure if I should read What Happened to Goodbye by Sarah Dessen

message 8: by Lorena (new)

Lorena (brasilgirl3598) | 28 comments I've read What Happen To Goodbye and I really liked it. It helps that I've read a couple of Sarah Dessen's other books and have liked those too. If you like contemporary or Sarah Dessen I think you'll like this book too.

@Diana

I've read The Angel Experiment (Maximum Ride, #1) by James Patterson , if you're looking for a fun and easy read then you should. It's a good book with a simple plot and likeable characters.

I second that, I gave it 5*.

Should I bother reading City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1) by Cassandra Clare ?

Is the love triangle handled well or is it simply annoying? I've really started to hate love triangles, half of the new YA books have badly written love triangles.

I enjoyed it, it's a fun read with strong and likeable female and male protagonists, and great action. It does have one downside though, while it's not insta-love, the romance is underdeveloped and rushed.

not sure to read... I'd Tell You I Love You, But Then I'd Have to Kill You (Gallagher Girls, #1) by Ally Carter

message 19: by Jan Bethel (new)

Jan Bethel (jan_bitz) | 10 comments I'm not really sure if I should buy The Mortal Instruments or The Infernal Devices. Which one is better on the plot and romance area, anyway?

Also, the books that are on my "maybe i'll buy list" are:
The Scorpio Races
Blood Red Road
Shatter Me
Under the Never Sky
Wake

Well Jan, I can tell you that both series have some pretty intense romance stories.
The thing is, The Mortal Instruments have more action and The Infernal Devices has its focus on the relationships between the characters, so you may find it more dramatic.
Personally I think that TMI is a better series because, to me, the characters in general are more interesting and the same happens with the plot.

Lucy Qhuay Should I read The Forest of Hands and Teeth (The Forest of Hands and Teeth, #1) by Carrie Ryan or Wither (The Chemical Garden, #1) by Lauren DeStefano or Under the Never Sky (Under the Never Sky, #1) by Veronica Rossi ?

ok so i read the mortal instraments first, because i wasnt aware of the infernal devices, the 2 series are connected, because the people from TID are the ancestors to the people in TMI..get it ?>?? And they are both awesome :)

You really should read Under the never sky. It's one of my favorite book of the year and maybe ever! Maybe you won't like it, all people have different taste after all but I really recommand it.

Don't buy Shatter Me, it was awful, I gave up on reading it a few chapers in.

message 28: by Marie (new)

Marie | 10 comments Really? I heard so many great things about Shatter Me. Many of my favorite friends(well, internet friends since my real friends don't read) thought it was one of the best books of 2011-2012.I did read a few bad reviews but I still think it sounds like a great bok.

Well, I'll give it a shot anyway. Specially now that they got rid of the horrible cover with the girl in a white dress.

I thought Shatter Me was amazing. One of my teachers read it and she thought very highly of it. The only thing I didn't like about it was the cover.

message 30: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm torn with Shatter Me also. But now that you've said that I might have to read it. Usually, I read a book even if it has a bad reputation just to see what it's like.

message 31: by Marie (new)

Marie | 10 comments I do that too. I do use reviews and recommendations to select books I want to buy because I don't have enough money to buy all the books that I want but if a book caught my curiosity, I'll read it no matter what the reviews are saying. One of my favorite series Wicked Lovely (Wicked Lovely, #1) by Melissa Marr got very mixed reviews but I thought it sounds great so I gave it a try anyway and I thought it was amazing.

message 32: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm more likely to buy a book if it has a good reputation but I will also read books with bad reputations for a number of reasons. Sometimes it will be because of the cover (a bad habit of mine) but other times it will just be out of general curiosity.

I just couln't stand the formatting and the heroine (I can't remember the story now). I actually liked the cover :)

message 34: by Marie (new)

Marie | 10 comments Yeah, I've heard mixed opinion about the heroine and I also feel like I'll have some issues with her but I'm getting used to it with YA loll.

And about the cover, hey, everyone has a right to his opinion ;) I did like how shiny it was but I'm not a fan of the model on it and I just love colors like the ones on the new cover.

Melissa (melissa_94) | 124 comments The Casual Vacancy by J.K. Rowling I pre-orded it, and i got really excited when i went to get it. I started it the same day, but 45 pages in and 2 weeks later, im still at the same place. Really cannot be bothered to carry on with this book. Anyone else read it, and if so, does it get any better? :D
